Back on NFL Daily. So excited about the Rosenthal Bowl. That's it. Seahawks, Patriots. Yeah, back in the old around the NFL days, we drafted the games. This would have been my number one overall draft pick for the entire season. And I love that Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma are on it. I love Vilma's energy. To me, he is the perfect guy for this game.

[00:00:24]

Yeah, the perfect guy for the battle of the heart and soul of Greg Rosenthal because the Seahawks, three and a half point favorites on the road at New England, where the Seahawks made the type of mistakes that the Bengals did against the Patriots, but Seattle managed to win. Now, are they going to do the same type of thing? They allowed two safeties in the first half against the Denver Broncos. It's just a calamity of errors, but they managed to find a way to win. Here comes New England, where we're getting Christian Gonzales back. He looks good. It's a solid opportunity. Can they get to 2-0, though, Steve?

[00:01:03]

Well, okay, this is where I'm going to play the West Coast, the West Coast, early Coast. Yeah, you can always get to 2-0, but remember, I said week one is the great non-truth teller. Yes, New England, page, it should be Jacobi %. Sky high for what they did to the bangles. They went out then to put it on them. I mean, they out-physicaled them. I think they out-coached them. But you know, Greg, the Seahawks are my... That's my team no one's talking about that I'm very high on it. Okay, same. I know you love Gino. This is just one where I think they're ground game. We saw Kenneth Walker. We saw them come out, and they rushed for a bunch of yards, I think 180 plus yards last week. I think that continues this week. I think they'll be able to go there, control the clock, get things going. It gets a Patriest defense that is underrated. I don't think people are going to sleep on it for too much longer. I think it's going to continue to play well. But I just think this week, Seattle, with its ability to run, set up to play action the way Tyler Locket looked last week, it's going to open up the field to some of the other guys.

[00:02:00]

I just think Seattle's offense is really going to start getting going.

[00:02:03]

Yeah, look, if I had to pick the game, that three and a half sounds about right. I think the Seahawks are a favorite, but it wouldn't shock me if the Patriots won this game because of what you said about the defense. What they have, I think most teams don't have, is a great combination of continuity and experience, but not aged experience. If you look at all the guys on their team, it's Duger. It's some second-year players like Gonzales, who was great last week. Now, you maybe Travel. I mean, he traveled around last week with Chase, and will he do it again with Dike? That would be fascinating. And Kean White, so some young players, but other guys who just been in the system, not superstars, but Anthony Jennings in the prime of his career, Johan Bentley in the prime of his career. Jelani Tovai has played great ball for them. He has. Kyle Ducker in the prime of his career. So, okay, it's not a new system either. Gerard Mayo is running this defense already. And so Marcus Jones, they just play well together. Jibril Peppers. There's a cohesion and an aggression that takes me back to the 2001 days.

[00:03:02]

That's their recipe. If they're not going to turn into a Super Bowl champion, but what they'll try to do, and we'll see if they can, is just not be sloppy, not beat themselves on offense, and see if the other team can make enough mistakes to scrape out a bunch of wins. Because Bill Belichick's team, he doesn't like to talk about it, last few years, they were making all sorts of mistakes. They were terrible on special teams. A ton of penalties, mental errors. You didn't see that in week one. So that's the promise because we know the offense isn't going to be explosive.

[00:03:29]

And that's the There's a difference between the early era Belichick teams and the late era teams where things got late and it started to feel like, Oh, well, Bill will figure it out. We don't necessarily need this mid-vet guy. He can go somewhere else and make his money. Then in comes rookies and things are disjointed. Matt Patricia is leaving, coming back. Josh McDaniel is leaving, coming back. It's all... But now there's actual real continuity among the unit, among the secondary. It was 20 to 28 routes for Gonzales lined up against Jamar Jason.

[00:03:58]

That's fine.

[00:03:58]

Wow. Three catches for 15 yards against Jamar. And again, Jamar's missed, but it's still Jamar Chase. I don't think he forgot how to get open. It was a great performance.

[00:04:09]

It's exciting. He was so good.

[00:04:10]

But if he travels this week, does he travel with Dike or did he float him? Because he can travel with Dike part of the time. He can travel with Jack Smith and Jigwa sometimes. There's ways to do that. You talk about the continuity doing this. But let's also keep it real because the overrunner here is 37.5. Greg, you make it-That's perfect. You make it how the overrunner should be six. You talk about the You're talking about a 3-2 ball game with a way you're really excited about this Valuant-No, I'm just saying they can be a top eight defense.

[00:04:38]

Ultimately, it's an offensive league, but the Seahawks offensive line certainly struggled early in that game, and they figured it out, and they were awesome in the second half, the offense was. It is tough to cover up these three receivers. Kenneth Walker is awesome. I do think that's why they probably lose because unlike the Seahawks, the Seahawks have both sides of the ball.

[00:04:57]

You could be pretty-We haven't talked about their defense.

[00:04:59]

You could be pretty excited about their new style. They talked about how they were going to play, and they were great tackling, flying around. They looked disciplined. So all the good things I said about the Patriots, the Seahawks have that on defense more or less, too, and they have a lot more explosive playmakers. And everyone, even Drod Mayo was like, You guys overreacted by the offensive line. I said it was going to be fine. They gave up the second most amount of pressures in terms of dropbacks in the NFL last year. Jacobi Percet in the offense barely moved the ball through the air. And as much as I'd like to give credit to the offensive line, Ramond J. Strevenson broke like 12 tackles. It was more just that he was awesome in that game. That's going to be tough to do every week.

[00:05:36]

Well, when they added an offensive lineman, when they had six offensive lineman, they averaged four yards of play, and they scored their only countdown of the game. So that's it. That's how you get that 3-2 game, Steve. That's not happening.

[00:05:46]

They're bringing an extra lineman. What, six offensive lineman? Yeah, it seemed like they were doing that every other play, which is...

[00:05:52]

That's all. Smart coaching. That's smart coaching.
