Vishnu is essentially the universe that has the source of life, takes a form. That form, it appears to have color, but it's colorless. It's like the ocean. The ocean is not actually blue. The ocean is colorless. Anyone will tell you that. But it is appearing blue because of its depth. That is Vishnu. He's appearing blue because of the depth of his character, the depth of his being. That is Shyama Krishna, and that is the same thing with Kali, the depth of their beings. So all of that idea packed into the color. I mean, that's how the rishis saw him, and that's what they passed on to us. So it really, it's such a seemingly simple image of a deity that's reclining. But there's so much that comes from that.
