Today, President Joe Biden joined French President Emmanuel Macron, Britain's King Charles III and others in marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy. Daily Wire reporter Megan Bascham has more.

Biden told a large crowd of veterans who years ago stormed the beaches there, democracy is never guaranteed. He then praised the men who fought in the critical World War II battle that turned the tides against the Nazis. Biden also made a point to say, The struggle between a dictatorship and freedom is unending, and then took a notable swipe at Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Here in Europe, we see one stark example. Ukraine has been invaded by a tyrant, then on domination. Ukrainians are fighting with extraordinary courage, suffering great losses, but never backing down. We cannot let that happen. To surrender the bullies, to bow down to dictators, is simply unthinkable.

Many critics of the President were quick to point out how disoriented and confused he looked at times during the occasion. At one point, Biden appeared to try sitting down where there was not a chair, and he later left the event rather abruptly with the first lady. This comes a day after the Wall Street Journal's explosive report, in which lawmakers and other officials on both sides of the aisle voiced concern over Biden's mental acuity.

The trial of President Biden's son, Hunter, entered day 4 today and brought testimony from Halley Biden, the wife of Hunter's late brother, Bo. Hunter and Halley were also romantically involved after Bo's death. Here to break down what she said is Daily Wire's Senior Editor, Kavit Phillips.

Halley Biden took the stand today testifying about everything from Hunter's drug use to how he acted when on drugs, and importantly, gave a first-hand account of finding the gun that Hunter had purchased after allegedly lying on background check forms. She says that she disposed of the gun in dumpster to prevent her kids from finding it and also to prevent Hunter from hurting himself. Mrs Biden also testified about when Hunter would use drugs, saying he continued to smoke crack cocaine while working and seeing family, and that she would occasionally go with Hunter to drug deals. Prosecutor Derek Heinz said yesterday the prosecution could rest its case as soon as today after hearing testimony from six witnesses.

In a rare press conference with international journalists, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a slew of warnings to Western nations. Dilly The Wire reporter, Tim pierce has the details.

Putin warned that Russia could provide long-range missiles to its allies in order to strike Western targets. He also reaffirmed that he's willing and ready to use nuclear weapons if Russia's sovereignty is threatened. These announcements come on the heels of the United States's decision to allow Ukraine to strike Russia with American missiles. While President Joe Biden said American arms were only to be used for protection, Putin seemed to disagree, saying that would mark their direct involvement in the war against the Russian Federation, and we reserve the to act the same way.

Steve Bannon has been ordered to report to prison on July first. Bannon, who is a longtime ally to President Trump, lost his appeal of his contempt of Congress conviction in May after refusing to testify about the January sixth riot. Judge Carl Nichols delayed Bannon's sentence while the appeals process played out. Bannon says this is an attempt to keep him quiet as the election approaches.

The Trump campaign has reportedly reached out to multiple candidates with paperwork in order to begin the vetting process for VP. Among them are Republican senators Marco Rubio, JD Vance, Tim Scott, and Tom Cotton, as well as North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, and in the House, Elise Stefanik, and Byron Donalds. Donalds, who is in the Morning Wire studios this morning, said there's nothing to do wait for the former President to make a decision. It's his decision. He'll decide what he wants to do and whatever his decision is, I'm going to support that. I just want to win. I'm a real simple dude. I just want to win, be successful. That's it. That decision likely won't come until just before or even during the Republican National Convention in mid July. And as Brian Hughes, a senior advisor for Trump's campaign, put it, anyone claiming to know who or when President Trump will choose his VP is lying unless that person is named Donald J. Trump.

A man in California was arrested this week after shooting wildly at passing cars on a busy street. He reportedly fired close to 30 shots randomly into traffic after attempting to buy alcohol with no money. After running out of bullets, he tossed the gun and took off all his clothes. Nearby store owner Enrique Torres said he was scared for his workers after hearing the shots.

He just started shooting just like that.

Two cars, two windows, two doors.

Multiple cars were hit, and one man, Victor Leon, was shot and killed during the incident. Leon was a husband and father of four. The suspect was arrested by police and charged with one count of murder and 10 counts of attempted murder.

Staying in the Golden State, California Governor Gavin Newsom proposed slashing public safety funding, including law enforcement. California faces a $28 billion deficit. Though a Newsom spokesperson initially said that there would be no cuts to law enforcement. That doesn't seem to be true. The California Department of Justice's budget decreased overall, including a cut of almost $190 million in court operations, law enforcement, and prison funding. On the other hand, Newsom has proposed $1.7 billion for climate goals and equity programs.
