This is why you might not want to hang up on that prank collar. October 21st, 2012, was quite possibly the worst day of Maria Menezes' life. Her murdered son's body was lying right in front of her in an open casket inside of her home. They were mourning his death. Now, even worse, this prankster was calling her on her phone to tell her that Gilberto was actually not dead at all. He was still alive. But hours later, when Maria was still standing in front of her son's casket, she heard screaming coming from the front of the house from other mourners, and she could not believe who was walking in the door. It was Gilberto. And he said, Mom, I'm alive. Come here. Pinch me. It would turn out a day earlier, a man who looked exactly like Gilberto happened to die, and Gilberto's brother misidentified this man as Gilberto, hence the mistake. The prank collar was Gilberto trying his best to convince his mother that he was still alive, but ultimately, when she hung up on him, he just had to go to his own funeral to prove it.
