Preston Lord played basketball here at Comes High School before he was killed. His family was in attendance and watched the community rally around them, wearing orange in honor of their son. A sea of orange at Comes High School. On Tuesday night, as Comes took on Eastmark High School, supporters stood behind the team and a movement that goes far beyond the four walls of this gym.

Three months ago, this team lost one of its players, 16-year-old Preston Lord. He was killed outside of a Halloween party.

Preston was a brilliant and kind soul whose life was taken in a horrendous act.

She was a really bright kid. She worked really, really hard.

Two other teens in the Southeast Valley killed in separate incidents not long after Lord, including Haley Stevens, who was shot at a house party in Casa Grande.

It can happen to the cheerleader. It can happen to the football player, the basketball player, and we need to be aware.

The teen violence shaking this community to its core, prompting residents to come together, demanding justice and change.

Before the game, community members picking up signs and bracelets, all to raise awareness about the ongoing problem.

I had already started my own little tiny bracelet business. It was just a no-brainer to start making these, donate the money to the family.
