Retired pediatrician Richard Coff is charged with raping and sexually assaulting two patients decades ago. The now adult women came forward after connecting and sharing similar stories on social media. I think it's always courageous for people to come forward.

The 68-year-old Norwell man faces four counts of child rape and 12 counts of indecent assault and battery. The women say they were raped and sexually assaulted while they were children and teenagers, sometimes with their parents in the room.

The women didn't know each other, but soon realized they had the same doctor as kids when one of them used Facebook to talk about her experience. Authorities say 22 other patients have since come forward with similar accusations. Two of them are juveniles.

She made a Facebook post after discussing how she felt uncomfortable about her visits with the defendant to her therapist, and her therapist told her this behavior was not normal and had to contact the police.

Doctor Kof left court without comment. He retired last year and voluntarily gave up his license, having practiced in Norwell and Kingston for more than 30 years.

When I was in the hallway, three different people came up to him to shake his hand and say they support him. He has been out and about for a month with this weight on his shoulders, and he is here today with his wife.
