It's a case that's been so emotional for all of Washington county. But Don Coleman was rather unemotional, learning she'd spent at least the next quarter century behind bars, who couldn't feel for what happened.

[00:00:13]

It's weighed so heavy on the hearts of community members like Janet Irk, who just don't understand how this could happen.

[00:00:20]

I don't know. I'm trying not to cry.

[00:00:22]

Judge Larry Medlock addressed Don Coleman Tuesday. Now. Now. Convicted of helping kill and dispose of five year old Cairo, Jordan in April of 2022.

Police say Coleman and the boy's mother to John Anderson, dumped the suitcase in a wooded area of Washington county. She remained silent through her sentencing on Tuesday.

[00:00:49]

We felt that there was nothing she could say today that was going to bring Cairo back. There was nothing she could say today that was going to change honestly, people's opinions about her.

[00:00:57]

Police believe Anderson is primarily responsible for Jordan's death. As part of her plea deal, Coleman will have to testify against Anderson if she's ever brought to court.

[00:01:06]

I'm confident that that will happen, that we will find her.

[00:01:09]

Police say Coleman's conviction is only one step on the road to justice.

[00:01:13]

I won't even say it's halfway over. It's a milestone in this case. So we're looking forward. It's a very active investigation.

[00:01:20]

If you believe you've seen Anderson, you're.

[00:01:22]
