Today is Monday, May 20, and the Minnesota Timberwolves shocked the world and take down the defending champion Nuggets with an incredible game seven performance. Holy shit. Pft. Oh, I should have said. Also congratulations to Hank. Boston Celtics for NBA champs.

[00:04:52]

Yeah, because the Nuggets are out. The only real competition that they had. So congratulations, Hank. That's very big for you.

[00:04:59]

Congrats, Hank.

[00:05:00]

You're not worried about the Pacers at all, right? No, I don't think so. And you're not worried about the Mavericks, not worried about the wolves?

[00:05:07]

No.

[00:05:07]

I'll be watching the Mavs wolves with with some intensity.

[00:05:10]

So watching these games I've started to around maybe just cuz I'm hanging out with Hank too much. But I. I see his point when he says, you guys just hate me for existing. And it's true. We do hate you for existing, but your entire existence is very infuriating. You understand that?

[00:05:27]

That's true. That's also true. I just. I just exist.

[00:05:29]

And people choose to be infuriated. I can't. I can only control myself.

[00:05:33]

You just exist and throw looks?

[00:05:35]

Yeah. Again, it's like I have to look like I have to look places. And then if, you know, you get mad at me for not talking, then when I talk, it just enrages you.

[00:05:45]

But holy shit. The Timberwolves down 15 and a half. They played like dog crap in the first half, and then the second half, it was like the nuggets forgot the monstars, talked him at halftime. I guess I want to know what that halftime speech was like, what adjustments they made on both sides, because the nuggets went from looking unstoppable and the wolves looking like trash to the complete opposite. Second half, a total 180. Nothing was falling for the Nuggets defensively. The wolves were just swarming them.

[00:06:11]

Yeah, they, and they also, they. Jokic taking what he ended up taking ten threes.

[00:06:16]

Yeah, he just kept shooting because he was like, they have to start falling.

[00:06:19]

They can't, that can't be in the game plan. Then the wolves I like in terms of impressive series wins, the way this one went down, because obviously they would go up two o and everyone crowns them. And then the Nuggets remind everyone that they're the Nuggets and they go back three two. And you thought like, okay, that's it. Like, it's over. The Wolves are dead. Friday night, they absolutely kill the Nuggets. And then even tonight when they're down 20 points early in the game and you're like, there's no chance this team is just not ready yet. And they just kept fighting. Just like Anthony Edwards didn't have his best game, kept fighting. Nas Reid was just that, that stretch he had where he was like a couple free throws, block cysts, dunk. Like he just, just absolute electricity put into the. To the Timberwolves team and they take down the champs.

[00:07:08]

Be real careful out there if you're typing Nas Reid with your autocorrect or guy Marquis Noel from Kansas State, he had, he felt victim of this, like ten minutes ago. He just said, like, nazi played a great game.

[00:07:20]

Oh, no.

[00:07:20]

He said, ggs. Nazi, GGS, buddy.

[00:07:25]

But it was, it was a full team effort from, from the Wolves. Because if you told me going into game seven that Anthony Edwards would have the Kobe six for 24, which is that, was that his famous stat line from the game seven they won? I'm pretty sure it was six for 24 from the field. I'd be like, no chance the Wolves win this game.

[00:07:44]

Well, here's a fun stat about Anthony Edwards. So when he's held below five points in the first half of the game, the Timberwolves are seven and one this season.

[00:07:52]

Damn.

[00:07:53]

Pretty crazy. That's the formula.

[00:07:54]

So you just gotta not score.

[00:07:55]

Just have him not score at all in the first half.

[00:07:58]

But like even Carl Anthony Towns goofy ass, that, that one, that one moment where he couldn't inbound the ball and he just started, he looked like he was going to like run up to the ref and be like stop the game fully. Not even just call timeout. He didn't call a timeout.

[00:08:11]

Anthony Edwards will do something every game that makes you scratch your head and Carl Anthony Towns. Yeah, Carl Anthony towns will do something in every game that makes you scratch your head and say like how, how is this guy still having a job in the NBA? And then he'll do something every game where you're like, oh, this guy's one of the best basketball players on the planet.

[00:08:27]

Yeah, but he was, yeah, I mean, he was getting tough rebounds. He was, you know, he scored like, I'm just, I couldn't be more impressed with the Wolves. This series was just, it was the anti Minnesota series because Minnesota sports fans have been through hell and back and up two, oh, they were, they were starting to be like, maybe this is different. And then down three two, they're like, nope, same old Minnesota Timberwolves. Same old Minnesota sports. And then in this game specifically being like a no show in game seven, can't believe we got our hopes up.

[00:08:57]

Boom.

[00:08:57]

You look up and they win the game somewhat convincingly because they were up ten with like three minutes left. And over in the Nuggets building, they win three games in Denver. I mean, what, what a, what a performance. They're, they're for real.

[00:09:13]

Pretty good.

[00:09:13]

They're for real, Hank. I am not, I'm not saying they're not.

[00:09:16]

I loved after the game, the second to whistle blue, first shot. Not, not the real team owner, not the coach dealing with a torrent patella. Not a crying fan in the stands that made the long trip from Minnesota. A Rod. A Rod speaker two, a Rod.

[00:09:30]

First boss man.

[00:09:30]

When I think Timberwolves, I think Alex.

[00:09:32]

Rod speaker two winning, winning culture. But yeah, shout out Minnesota fans, this has to feel like. It has to feel almost bizarre and like, when's the joke going to happen? Yeah. Because you have the young star and it felt like this series slipped away and it didn't. And now you're on to the Western Conference finals for the first time, I believe, since, like, 2004 when they had Kevin Garnett. And their last time that they were in the. Their only other time in the Western Conference finals. It's awesome, you know? Shout out Minnesota sports fans. It's been a long time to have a team that you're like that. It's, again, it's the opposite. Minnesota soda sports where every other team they've had, it's always been like, ah, they'll end up losing. This team is just a bunch of dogs. You're like, no, maybe they won't.

[00:10:17]

Yeah, they're fun. They are. The game that you look forward to watching.

[00:10:20]

Yeah.

[00:10:20]

I'm bummed that the series is over, actually. Even though we didn't have a whole lot of really close games. I was just looking forward to these games because you didn't know who was going to win.

[00:10:28]

Friday night was. Was like, that was the biggest joke of a game ever.

[00:10:32]

They all have kind of been jokes.

[00:10:34]

Yeah.

[00:10:34]

Like, it's. It's the most lopsided seven game series where both teams were lopsided.

[00:10:38]

Also, the Nuggets Wolves jersey mismatch tonight was probably the most profound there's ever been because I don't know what the fuck. Burn that Nuggets jersey. Never wear it again. Is it there? Is this the zip code?

[00:10:52]

I don't know. It's like. It's the.

[00:10:59]

Row.

[00:10:59]

Yeah, I'd rather have the zip code.

[00:11:01]

They put it on their court, obviously, but like that. Put it on the jerseys and having the really dark blue ones, you got to have something more intimidating.

[00:11:08]

And then you let.

[00:11:08]

That's not a game seven uniform. That's a game two uniform.

[00:11:11]

And then you let the wolves walk in with the. Their awesome, clean throwbacks.

[00:11:15]

Yep.

[00:11:15]

And they just. That it was over right then, even though it wasn't.

[00:11:19]

Even though first half was just all nuggets.

[00:11:20]

Yeah. Yeah. So, Hank, you gotta be feeling it.

[00:11:24]

I'm excited. I'm excited for the next few weeks.

[00:11:27]

Yeah. Well, so who you got facing is the Indiana Pacers. I want to start this because I want to start it by saying. Talking about the pacers because that ESPN broadcast.

[00:11:39]

Ooh.

[00:11:40]

Was something else. I've. I didn't even know that they were like, if you're. If you tuned into that game, you would not have known who the Knicks were playing today because they, even at the end of the game, like, Doris Burke sounded like she was going to cry, having to be like, the Pacers are about to win this game. Mike Breen I get, because he's the Knicks regular play by play guy and he's a Knicks fan, but the beginning of the game started with Tyrese Hall, Burton, Jalen Brunson walking through the tunnel, and then Stephen A. Smith also walking through the tunnel like he was a player. It, before tip off. They did. They kicked it to Stephen A. Smith, who gave a Knicks pump up speech with Spike Lee. You would never have guessed the Indiana Pacers were playing in this game.

[00:12:27]

And then at halftime, the Pacers are winning, they're playing a great game. And then at halftime, they just talk about what a tough guy OG and Obi is, which credit to him for playing. But then Bob Myers just lectures America on, on what an outstanding feat of strength this guy is pulling off tonight.

[00:12:42]

I wrote down the quote, because Malika Andrews asked Bob Myers at halftime, what stood out to you for the Pacers? And he wrote, he said back, well, starting with OG, couldn't go. And then went on to talk about OG. He's like, no, no, the question was about the Pacers. So the Pacers deserve the credit here. They went into the mecca in a game seven and dropped 130, just did not miss 67% from the field. They like this team. Yeah, their defense is great, but their offensive, like, when it clicks, they have so many dudes who can score. And like TJ McConnell again, every time it comes off the bench, like, holy shit, tyrese Halliburton was awesome. It was just, they took it right to the Knicks. Completely took the crowd out of the game. And their teams, down zero two in a series have, I think, won the series 7% of the time, and home teams in a game seven win 75% of the time. The Pacers just buck both those trends.

[00:13:40]

And it was the best shooting performance in a game seven on the road in NBA history, where they shoot 67%, 67% from the field is insane.

[00:13:48]

Yeah. All 16 of the ESPN analysts before the series picked the Knicks. The Pacers used that on their twitter after. And so the Pacers deserve all the credit. They deserve the shine that ESPN just did not give them whatsoever.

[00:14:01]

Think Rick Carlisle is right? Yeah, for the small market. Well, actually, in New York, it's not called a small market, it's called a bodega.

[00:14:07]

Yeah, that's true.

[00:14:08]

Get that straight with a cat.

[00:14:09]

Yeah, cat sitting in, like, a box of old, like, twix. Yeah.

[00:14:13]

Yeah. Usually there's a Ritz container, like, a box of Ritz crackers. That was from the 1980s.

[00:14:18]

Yeah. If you. The beauty of a bodegas. If you go, like, past the first two or three things that are on the shelf, you can see one that's like, oh, shit. Was this a war ration?

[00:14:28]

Yeah. Vienna sausages.

[00:14:29]

Yeah.

[00:14:30]

They got everything. Neither.

[00:14:31]

But. But the pacers, like, full team performance. Everyone was. Everyone scored. They had. All five starters were in. In double digits in. Actually, the lowest starter was Miles Turner had 17, so. And then TJ McConnell put in twelve from the bench. And. Yeah, I. I know that you shouldn't be worried about the Pacers, Hank, but the Pacers do have an offense that, like, when they get hot and they run, they play a weird style of basketball that could sneak up on you. Not worried.

[00:15:01]

They could. They could maybe sneak in a game.

[00:15:04]

Yeah. I mean, I agree with you. The songs win this series, but I'm just saying, giving some shine to the Pacers.

[00:15:09]

How do we feel about Tyrese Halliburton being. It seems like he's embracing the role of a villain, but to me, the best villains aren't the ones that have to be like, you know what? I'm going to embrace the role of villain. A real villain just doesn't give a fuck. And they're a villain.

[00:15:21]

Yeah. I didn't like that he did the too small to deuce McBride on Friday night behind his back, and then pretended to pick his nose because he. You got to do the too small with full force.

[00:15:30]

Well, the too small is a hate crime.

[00:15:31]

Yeah.

[00:15:31]

It's people of my stature, but I'd have no. I have no problem with him wearing the Reggie Miller choking shirt after the game. Yeah, that's good. Like, the Knicks were talking all the shit, as he saw in the media. Everyone was picking against you guys. Nobody was really respecting the pacers. So, yeah. Talk all the shit once it's over. But a guy like that, when he loses, that's. He doesn't have that same. I don't know. Do you know what I'm trying to say about, like, people who anoint themselves as a villain.

[00:15:54]

Yeah.

[00:15:54]

Versus people who are just naturally.

[00:15:56]

Well, I think he's kind of hated.

[00:15:57]

You think?

[00:15:58]

Yeah, I think he's hated in the fact that when he's good, he's great. And then there's some moments where it's like, what is he doing out there? Yeah. Just running in circles. But you got to give Tyrese Halliburton credit. It's his first playoffs, and he's made it to a conference finals. Joel beat has never done that.

[00:16:17]

That's pretty good. It's very good.

[00:16:19]

People are obsessed with it. With Joel Embiid.

[00:16:22]

You're obsessed with Joel Embiid?

[00:16:23]

Well, I mean, yeah, I'm the one who brought this up. Tyrese Halliburton has made the conference final before. Joe own beat is his first playoffs. Don't care.

[00:16:32]

Cat two.

[00:16:33]

Cat.

[00:16:34]

Oh, yeah.

[00:16:34]

Well, it's not his first playoffs.

[00:16:35]

No, I know, but.

[00:16:36]

But he's made it. He has made a conference finals before Joel Embiid. So who do you guys think with Anthony Edwards?

[00:16:42]

So who's a better big man, Rudy Gobert or Joel Embiid?

[00:16:46]

Hmm.

[00:16:48]

Be honest.

[00:16:50]

If I'm being honest, it's true. Once made a conference final by a ton. But, yeah, the pacer. So. So the Knicks went out. So sad.

[00:17:00]

Well, they died as they lived with another heartbreaking injury.

[00:17:04]

Yeah, Jalen Brunson broke his hand. I heard that Tom Thibodeaux actually sat on it at halftime. We got to figure out a way to blame him. Yeah, this one as well. Here's the thing. Two things can be true at the same time. The Knicks had incredibly bad injury luck in these playoffs. And you can be excited, if you're a Knicks fan, about the future, because Jalen Brunson is a up and coming superstar. I said it. Up and coming. Not there yet, but a superstar in the making. Knicks fans also should understand that they have to get laughed at because all they do is talk shit. And they had the we want Boston Chance and the Bing bongs and the after every game, the interviews, and then you just lost game seven at the Mecca to the Indiana Pacers. Yeah.

[00:17:49]

And Spike Lee pretty much crying in the front row afterwards. That was tough to watch.

[00:17:53]

Like, I think, I don't know. I mean, maybe I'm. Maybe. Maybe most Knicks fans aren't memes. What? You're a Knicks fan? Memes, by the way, is going through the playoffs of hell because he's an Islanders and Knicks fan and hates the Rangers, who are maybe going to win the Stanley cup. We'll talk to PK Suban about that. But what do you think, memes? Do you think it's fair, or do you think Knicks fans are in their feels about people talking shit back to them? Because I saw a lot of that being like, oh, we're so injured. We're so injured. You guys talk a lot of shit for not being in a conference final since 2000. Yeah.

[00:18:30]

I think everybody's just in their feelings right now.

[00:18:31]

Yeah. Which is fair. That's how sports work.

[00:18:34]

I think. I think both sides are overreacting with Knicks fans are like our Pacers fans are saying, well, Knicks fans keep using the injury card on everything, and then Knicks fans get pissed off at that. And I think the truth is in the middle where it's like your team was, your team had devastating injury.

[00:18:50]

Yeah.

[00:18:50]

No, you were all hurt.

[00:18:51]

Yeah.

[00:18:51]

It's, it's a valid excuse, but it's still definitely an excuse.

[00:18:54]

Right. And it's also, you talk a lot of shit along the way. You got to expect it to come back at you when you end up losing, especially game seven at the Mecca.

[00:19:01]

Yeah.

[00:19:02]

And that was, I mean, that crowd, like, they, the Pacers just took it right to him. Hank, are you sad you don't get to play the Knicks?

[00:19:10]

It doesn't really matter. I would have liked to, I would have liked to shut the Knicks fans up and just sweep them real quick, but they would have just, you know, played the injury card anyway.

[00:19:17]

So.

[00:19:18]

Yeah, this, this will get the in season tournament revenge game.

[00:19:21]

Yeah.

[00:19:22]

Yeah. But Knicks fans, do you think they're going to be rooting against the Celtics? Could, are they going to be able to bring themselves to root for the Pacers?

[00:19:28]

I don't think there's, they don't have.

[00:19:30]

That hate in there.

[00:19:30]

They don't really care. I mean, the Pacers watch basketball.

[00:19:35]

They do that.

[00:19:36]

Pacers and Knicks have more of a rivalry than the Celtics in the next.

[00:19:39]

That's true. But I feel like people from New York just don't want to see people from Boston succeed.

[00:19:43]

It's true.

[00:19:44]

Here's a weird stat. Now, the Pacers have been to the Eastern Conference finals a bunch of times. You know, they went to the NBA Finals in whatever it was, 2000, but 1994, they went to the Eastern Conference finals. 2004, they went to the Eastern Conference finals. 2014, they went to the Eastern Conference finals, 2024, Eastern Conference finals force. So let's put in a reminder from 2034, make sure that's in there.

[00:20:08]

Sounds good.

[00:20:08]

They have been other times, though, but still, that's kind of cool.

[00:20:11]

I'm going to bet so many shit coins on that game.

[00:20:13]

Yeah.

[00:20:13]

I'll be so rich from Doge.

[00:20:15]

I'm happy for the Pacers. I mean, they got a young, fun team, but Tyrese Halberd and what, so, me too.

[00:20:22]

I'm happy for him.

[00:20:22]

Tyrese Halliburton Tyrese Halliburton, Jason Tatum, Luca or Anthony Edwards, one of those four is gonna win their first ring. That's pretty cool.

[00:20:31]

Very cool.

[00:20:31]

I got some passing of the torch of the NBA. I'm not saying those are all in the same level.

[00:20:36]

Which player do you think is the best out of that group of four you just named?

[00:20:39]

I would still say Luca.

[00:20:41]

I would like Hank to answer that question.

[00:20:43]

I would like Hank to answer that question, too.

[00:20:45]

I would.

[00:20:46]

Tatum is better than Luca.

[00:20:49]

More experience.

[00:20:50]

Okay, what? How?

[00:20:51]

Played longer.

[00:20:52]

Nothing but success.

[00:20:53]

Nothing but success.

[00:20:54]

I mean, they've more playoff games.

[00:20:56]

I mean, Luca played overseas and then played here. They.

[00:21:00]

I mean, it's close. It's close. It's. It's a one. A one beat situation, Lucas. Very good.

[00:21:04]

But so if you call from the Dallas map, Mark Cuban, who still somehow owns them tomorrow and said, hey, we want to trade Jason Tatum for Luca, straight up. Do the Celtics hang up that phone call?

[00:21:19]

I don't know what they would do. I'm not sure.

[00:21:22]

Okay.

[00:21:23]

I would pick up that call.

[00:21:24]

I would pick. I would take that call out for.

[00:21:25]

There to entertain the call.

[00:21:26]

Yeah.

[00:21:27]

You would answer it.

[00:21:27]

Okay. We should talk about the Mavs. That was an awesome, awesome game. Six. The shot making at the end of the game was just, like, just such high level back and forth. And also the thunderbolt. I feel like the thunder blew. I don't know, like, four or five different 15 point leads during that game. They just kept on getting these huge leads, and the Mavs kept coming back. And the Mavs, Kyrie Irving, fun fact is 14 and o in close out games, which is a weird way to say it, because he's lost elimination games, but.

[00:22:00]

Yeah, but not game sevens.

[00:22:02]

No, he has lost. No, no, it's. It's.

[00:22:05]

With enough win, three wins.

[00:22:07]

Yes. Yeah. Close out games.

[00:22:09]

Okay.

[00:22:09]

Not lost. So that's cool, I guess.

[00:22:12]

Yeah. Listen, the Mavericks are good. I know that there's some rivalry baked in between the Mavericks and the Celtics. Kyrie did step all over lucky the leprechaun.

[00:22:20]

Yeah.

[00:22:20]

It's gonna be a big time lucky revenge series if you're lucky enough to make it through the pacer sank. I would be. I would be worried about whoever came out of the west, to be honest.

[00:22:27]

Yeah. Yeah.

[00:22:29]

It'll be a fair. It'll be a fair, fair fight.

[00:22:31]

This game was awesome, though. Derek Lively was incredible. And Derek Lively, fun fact goes back to last year when the Mavs got fined $750,000 for tanking the final two games. Now teams tank all the time. They got fined specifically because they were like, hey, we're tanking. And they said it out loud, but they tanked for a specific reason, because if they had stayed at the 11th spot in the standings, they would have had an eight and a half percent chance of keeping their pick because they would have. It was a trade that they would had to lose their pick. They tanked. They ended up having a 79.8% chance of keeping their pick. They get the 10th pick. They trade the 10th pick with the Thunder at twelve and they take Derek Lively. So they traded Derek. The Thunder technically took Derrick Lively at twelve. They get Derek Lively. Derek Lively was the difference in that game. He had 15 rebounds.

[00:23:29]

His rebounding is everywhere. And his defense is awesome, too. He's. He's a good role player on the Mavericks. They've got a couple of those guys. PJ Washington. I, I don't. I think it's disrespectful to call him a role player at this point.

[00:23:39]

He's. I mean, he, he got a little bit cooler the last two games, but he still hit the big shots when he needed to. Cause he was. There was a couple games where he was scoring like 25 points, hitting every three.

[00:23:50]

Yeah.

[00:23:50]

I just, I just wanted to remind people, because I remember specifically last year, people were very upset at the Mavericks because I think they started tanking when they technically were still alive for the play in.

[00:24:01]

Yeah. They didn't want that.

[00:24:02]

I'm a big proponent for a team to do that because the play in is a joke. As someone who gets hurt by the play in every single year. They created the play in to give the illusion of playoffs to all these teams. The Mavericks made the right decision. They got a good big young guy who can help Luca in his prime win a title this year instead of trying to make, and probably failing to get in the play in. And then if they're in the play in, probably failing to get in the playoffs. And even if they're in the playoffs, losing to the Nuggets and trying.

[00:24:33]

And then. Yeah, then trying to sign like a free agent or trying to lure another guy in there to make a super team.

[00:24:38]

Right.

[00:24:38]

Get a good role player.

[00:24:39]

Taking works sometimes.

[00:24:41]

Was the heat where the heat in the play were in the playing game. But what seed would they have been last year?

[00:24:46]

What do you mean?

[00:24:47]

So they were the eight seed last year, right?

[00:24:49]

Yeah, they were in the. Yeah, they lost the first one and they. Okay, they beat the ball seven.

[00:24:54]

If there was no play, they would.

[00:24:55]

Have been the seven. So they are alumni of the playing tournament, but they did not benefit from the expanded playing field, correct? Yeah.

[00:25:01]

Correct. They didn't, they didn't end up like, oh, a team all the way from the play in.

[00:25:07]

Yeah, this is, it was a weird ending of this game, too, where they had the free throws at the end.

[00:25:11]

Yeah.

[00:25:11]

And so he makes two of them, misses the third one intentionally with two and a half seconds left. Chet looked like he was in disbelief after the game was over. He could not believe that they lost that game. It was close.

[00:25:21]

Well, chet, I like Chat, the Thunder have a very promising future, which is also a scary thing to say to the Thunder fans because they had a promising future before they traded James Harden. Chet, you need someone else out there to help with Chet because he is not like what he had like three rebounds. He's not a traditional big. I actually think you want to hear this one. I think the thunder should draft Zack ed.

[00:25:49]

Interest twin towers. Enter careful. Grant.

[00:25:52]

A little, little this, little that. Yeah, you know, that's it. You got the, the nimbly three point shooting, skinny center, and then you got a little bit more of a traditional center in Zack Edie.

[00:26:06]

DJ Burns.

[00:26:07]

I like.

[00:26:08]

Yeah, why not get, get a big boy in there.

[00:26:10]

Get a college all star team.

[00:26:11]

I like it. I don't hate that idea. So you're off the Kevin Durant to the Thunder train.

[00:26:14]

No, I'm still on that.

[00:26:15]

Him and, him and Chet stand next to each other. Look very, very funny.

[00:26:19]

I'm still on that. I actually think that the, I think Kevin Durant wants that. I don't know if the thunder want that.

[00:26:25]

If I'm a Thunder fan, I don't know if I'd want that either.

[00:26:27]

Yeah, but the thunder have a bright future. I'm, I am. I don't know why everyone has written off the Mavs. It feels like everyone just assumes whoever wins the Wolves Nuggets was going to beat the Mavs quickly. I think the Mavs are going to give again when you have the best player and Anthony Edwards is very, very good. I still think Luca, as of right now, is better. And if you have the best player in a series, you have a puncher's chance every single time. Every single time.

[00:26:53]

They're not out of it.

[00:26:54]

No, I just, I think it's gonna be a good series. I think the mast Mads played really good defense against Thunder. They have some really good role players. If you get them to a close out game, Kyrie Irving literally does not lose those which are, again, I 314 and, oh, I feel like touting the closeout game stat is weird when you've. When you, like, got injured and your team lost. When was you lost in five to the. To the warriors because they technically didn't have a close.

[00:27:19]

Also, some of those closeout games are on LeBron Stat sheet, too.

[00:27:24]

Correct.

[00:27:24]

So when was the last time the Kyrie Irving made it this far? It had to be when he was with the Cavs.

[00:27:29]

They. Well, they won. They won. They beat the year that he got hurt. They won the first round match, and then they. He got hurt before the series against the Bucks in the second round that they took bucks to seven. And Kevin Durant stepped on the line on the, you know, for the three pointer. Yeah, but, yeah, the closeout game stat is. Sounds awesome, but then you're like, wait, but you've lost series before.

[00:27:53]

I don't think he's been to the. It's a western conference finals. The last.

[00:27:56]

Yeah. No. Is far.

[00:27:57]

In the playoffs. I think was probably like 2018. 2017. Long time ago.

[00:28:04]

Where is it? What was the farthest? He made it with the Celtics. No, he got hurt.

[00:28:07]

Get hurt.

[00:28:08]

Yeah, he got hurt and he was out, so, yeah, it's been a long.

[00:28:11]

Time, probably, but he's 14.

[00:28:12]

Oh, and closeout games. Pft. You want to let everyone know that.

[00:28:14]

Yeah, 14. That's the important stat.

[00:28:16]

14. Oh, and close out games doesn't count. The. Yeah. Losing in five to the warriors.

[00:28:20]

Mm hmm.

[00:28:21]

That doesn't count because you never chance at a closeout game.

[00:28:23]

Yep.

[00:28:23]

You just get him to a closeout game and he'll win that shit. So you guys all have the wolves and how many?

[00:28:31]

I got wolves in seven.

[00:28:32]

Oh, okay. So that I can. I can deal with.

[00:28:34]

I would have had the Lakers in five if they had made it this far.

[00:28:37]

Yeah. Lakers probably would have beaten. I mean, the Lakers would have beaten in this. These nuggets.

[00:28:43]

Yep. These nuggets are not those game seven nuggets.

[00:28:45]

Miss every shot.

[00:28:46]

Yep. Well, game seven, second half Nuggets.

[00:28:48]

Yeah.

[00:28:49]

Yeah. Lakers smoke them.

[00:28:50]

By the way, going back to the Knicks real quick, real leader move, which I love from Jalen Brunson. Someone asked him, was like, given everything this season, you know, the growth you guys have had, how far you made it was a success. He said, no, love that.

[00:29:05]

Okay, that's good.

[00:29:06]

I like that answer.

[00:29:07]

I like that shit.

[00:29:09]

Mavs and seven.

[00:29:10]

Mavs and seven. I'm starting to believe in the Mavs. I don't know, it's just. And that game six, as good as the end of the game was, if you're an NBA hater the first half, you would have had a lot of material. Because Luca has never been more annoying to the refs than he was on Saturday night.

[00:29:28]

I don't know if you saw he.

[00:29:29]

Was going to get kicked out of the game.

[00:29:31]

I don't know if you saw the foul. I think it was the foul against PJ Washington. Luca called the foul before PJ even hit the ground. Yeah, he had that call before the ref did. He was turning his head on slow mo. It was lightning fast reflexes to call foul for a ref. Also, I can't believe we didn't open up the show with this bad job on our part. This is very important. Speaking of the Knicks, this day, 35 years ago, Jordan scores 40 at Chicago Stadium in game six of Eastern Conference semis to beat the Knicks. In my check collection is the phone bill he paid that day. Darren Revelle.

[00:30:07]

That's huge.

[00:30:07]

That's awesome.

[00:30:08]

That's huge.

[00:30:10]

It's literally a bill. Yeah, he paid his phone bill, but he has it. He has it that same day.

[00:30:16]

Yeah. He's quite a weirdo. Yeah, weirdest of the weirds. All right, so, Hank, give us a Celtics Pacers series prediction as well.

[00:30:25]

Celtics in five.

[00:30:29]

Five. Okay, so that would easily cash my under four and a half losses that I said before.

[00:30:36]

Yeah, I could see it maybe going six, but definitely not seven.

[00:30:40]

Okay. And Chris ops can be back. Yeah. Well said. It's. It's imminent, right? His return is imminent.

[00:30:46]

Yeah.

[00:30:47]

That's huge.

[00:30:48]

Less than several. That's what we're down to now.

[00:30:51]

Yeah. I think Celtics Mavs would actually maybe be the funnest matchup.

[00:30:57]

Yeah, that would be fun because you get to go to Dallas.

[00:31:00]

I even think about that.

[00:31:01]

Yeah.

[00:31:02]

That's crazy.

[00:31:02]

Yeah. More on that later when we have Mister Bing Bong on Jerry O'Connell. We should probably talk about the PJ championship.

[00:31:10]

Yeah.

[00:31:10]

Let's talk about what happened on Friday morning.

[00:31:12]

Yeah.

[00:31:13]

So we recorded part of my take. Go to sleep, wake up in the morning, first thing that I saw. Tweet alert. Jeff Darlington reports that Scottie Scheffler has been arrested outside of Valhalla.

[00:31:25]

Mm hmm.

[00:31:26]

And I don't know about you guys, but when you saw it, what was your first reaction? The same as mine. Which is like, this is simply not true.

[00:31:33]

My first.

[00:31:34]

I read it as Scotty Sheffler killed a man.

[00:31:35]

Same. That's how I read it. There was for the first 30 seconds that I had my eyes open.

[00:31:40]

Yep.

[00:31:41]

Was like, Scotty Scheffler ran over someone. Holy fucking shit.

[00:31:45]

Did you really? You thought Scotty. Scotty Scheffler just pulled a Tony Stewart?

[00:31:49]

Yeah. I was like, this is crazy.

[00:31:50]

I saw the mug shot and I was. Yeah, I was like half asleep. It was like, Scotty Scheffler arrested person died from car accident. I was like, oh my God.

[00:31:58]

Yeah. Oh.

[00:31:59]

Cuz it got lumped in. Yeah, there was a, ya know, that pedestrian fatality right in the morning.

[00:32:03]

So I read that whole thing together and that's what I thought. I was like, oh my God, this is crazy. It's.

[00:32:08]

It's the wildest golf story maybe ever.

[00:32:11]

Well, Tiger woods happened. Yeah, I would. Tiger woods. There was a lot of wild you could do. Tiger woods part one, Tiger woods part two. I wouldn't say it was the craziest.

[00:32:22]

But I. I think it's, you know, you just did.

[00:32:25]

You just did your rg three.

[00:32:26]

No, no, wait.

[00:32:29]

Is the craziest sports story ever. Everyone's like, dude, Aaron Hernandez.

[00:32:32]

It's not. But why it might be up there for craziest golf star. I'm not talking about just the getting arrested part, because obviously Tiger hasn't beaten. Just in terms of quantity. Yeah, that one. But in terms of who you would expect this from.

[00:32:44]

Yeah.

[00:32:45]

Waking up to see Scottie Scheffler has been arrested the morning of a PGA championship and thrown in jail and charged with a felony assault on a police officer. And it's Scottie Scheffler. Yeah, that's the crazy part.

[00:32:57]

But Tiger woods was Scotty Scheffler.

[00:33:00]

No, but he wasn't like.

[00:33:02]

Yeah, he was.

[00:33:03]

He wasn't like Scotty. Yeah, he was Mister super, super squeaky.

[00:33:07]

Yeah, he was.

[00:33:08]

I don't. Not to the same extent.

[00:33:09]

Before Tiger woods got the. The Thanksgiving with. With the car and everything, he was like the perfect guy. No one knew that any of that shit was going on.

[00:33:19]

But Scotty is just so very much.

[00:33:21]

I think you're forgetting how, like, squeaky clean Tiger woods was. I remember.

[00:33:25]

I do know that he had a great image back in the day, for sure. I remember it. I remember Tiger Wood.

[00:33:29]

It's been so long that we've known the other tiger woods that it clouds who the original Tiger woods was. He was like a brand. I remember, like, reading stories were like, brands are coming themselves. Like this gift from the heavens of Tiger woods, who's never done anything wrong. He was born to play golf.

[00:33:47]

Yeah, but Scotty is in terms of just everything that you've seen from on. If it's the full swing, behind the scenes documentary, his interviews.

[00:33:54]

Oh, shock.

[00:33:55]

He's like. He's like a very boring, very nice guy.

[00:33:58]

Yes.

[00:33:58]

That's why him getting arrested was.

[00:34:00]

No.

[00:34:00]

Holy shit.

[00:34:01]

It was shocking. I just remember so vividly when Tiger woods. That whole thing happened. I was like, what? He's done? And he does what? In a Perkins restaurant?

[00:34:09]

Yeah. You know the text messages coming out?

[00:34:11]

Yeah.

[00:34:12]

Credit to Scotty's lawyer, by the way, for. I don't know how this normally works for regular Americans, but if you get arrested for felony assault on a police officer, do they usually let you out in 2 hours so you can make a tee time speaker one?

[00:34:24]

So I think that police officer might have been a little embarrassed with who he arrested after the fact.

[00:34:30]

I would think so.

[00:34:31]

I think he might have not realized he was arresting the number one golfer in the world, and then after was like, yeah, but he dragged me on the ground and my pants ripped. Because reading that police report, there's just no way that Scottie Sheffield would have been let out, like, 30 minutes after.

[00:34:49]

Yeah. It said, I think the police report, the officer's pants valued at dollar 89 were damaged beyond repair, which, by the way, if you read that, if you.

[00:34:57]

Just will buy those.

[00:34:58]

He will buy those. I would actually buy those. But wear those the way that it's. Well, you can't, because they're beyond repair.

[00:35:05]

Yeah, we'd find a way.

[00:35:06]

Massacred those.

[00:35:07]

We find ways.

[00:35:08]

They are. They're the most destroyed pants in America right now. And. But if you read that, that police report and just take it at the text value of it, he might have shit his pants. Oh, it didn't say, like, the pants were torn. It didn't say the pants got run over. It said, the pants are damaged beyond repair. This officer might have shit his pants and destroyed his own pants. And then now Scotty Scheffler is getting arrested because he made a police officer poop in his pants.

[00:35:36]

That would be awesome. If he pooped his pants after the fact, like, the whole thing goes down.

[00:35:40]

Yeah. Then he arrests him, and then.

[00:35:42]

And then is like, sergeants, like, hey, you realize you just arrested Scotty Scheffler, and then he shits himself.

[00:35:47]

Yeah. And there's a few golfers on tour right now where it's like, this guy got arrested for doing that. Then you'd be like, okay, that sounds, I guess, not totally crazy. It's still crazy. Like, if you told me John Daley did this, I'd be like, okay, yeah, fair enough, Phil. Yeah, Phil. I'd be like, yep, some. Something happened, but the folks is a.

[00:36:06]

Little bit of a bad boy. I don't think he would get arrested, but it wouldn't. I wouldn't be like, what?

[00:36:09]

Yeah, but it'd be cool if he did.

[00:36:11]

He would be. He would be definitely a cool way to get arrested.

[00:36:13]

Great mug shot from him.

[00:36:15]

The fact that Scotty then shot a 66.

[00:36:17]

Yeah.

[00:36:18]

Yeah.

[00:36:18]

That was pretty impressive. And he almost eagled the first hole.

[00:36:20]

I thought that.

[00:36:21]

So I thought that he was going to go out there and shoot lights out in his first round. Because I don't know if you guys ever been arrested, but the way it kind of goes is none of us have.

[00:36:30]

Yeah.

[00:36:31]

Yeah. What do you mean?

[00:36:32]

Oh, the dog thing?

[00:36:34]

Yeah. I've been arrested three times at dogs.

[00:36:39]

Spent a couple nights in a slammer.

[00:36:41]

Oh, yeah. You got you for Brady four.

[00:36:43]

No, but, like, legitimately, what happens is you get let out of jail in the morning and then you're like, that's pretty fucking cool. Like, you. You're kind of feeling badass. And then the next day is when all the repercussions and the thoughts about your future. Did I really screw this up? Start to sink in? So he's. He's riding off the high of all the adrenaline of breaking the law because that's a cool feeling.

[00:37:04]

Yeah. And then each. And then on Saturday. How the fuck. I still don't think like that. So Scotty Sheffer got arrested on Friday morning. It was an all time Internet moment. It was crazy. Goes out and shoots at 66. I know this is nuts to say, but I'm just going to say it. I still think that the fact that his caddy skip Saturday is a bigger story. That's so crazy to me. He sucked on Saturday. He's a system golfer, Ted. Scott is the re. Is the system.

[00:37:33]

He's the reason why Scotty's so. Yeah, and that one shot that he had that ended up behind the fin. Yeah, I would love to have my cat either for that one.

[00:37:39]

I would have loved to not be Scotty's best friend who's on his bag being like, scotty, like, what the fuck do I do? I don't fucking know, dude.

[00:37:45]

Yeah.

[00:37:45]

Why didn't you. Why didn't you just have your caddy.

[00:37:47]

Facetime his son call over another rules official, please? Because I don't know what to tell you, what to do.

[00:37:51]

That, like, I don't want to say it cost him the tournament, but Saturday was bad for him and he shot great again on Sunday. When Ted Scott came back, what did Scotty end up shooting with Ted Scott on his bag? It was probably insane.

[00:38:04]

He was like 600 today.

[00:38:06]

Yeah, I mean, I. That was a very unfortunate graduation timing.

[00:38:11]

You know, it's really.

[00:38:11]

Should have. Sky Shuffler has enough money. He should have just paid for the graduation to be on Monday. That would have been great.

[00:38:19]

Not a bad idea.

[00:38:20]

Just be like, hey, guys.

[00:38:21]

What I really love about the timing of all this, though, is Xander shawly wins. Yes, but it's majorly overshadowed by Scottie Scheffler getting arrested. So now we can continue with our running theory of Xander Schofley will never win a major, can't win the big one is we'll all forget about this one. This was a Scottie Scheffler tournament.

[00:38:38]

Yes. Scotty Scheffler shot a 67, 66, 73, and a 65. So if you just say that he shot a 67, which was his worst score with Ted Scott on Saturday, he still wouldn't have won the term. Okay, that makes me feel better.

[00:38:56]

Yeah, but vibes. He probably would have gone super low on Saturday.

[00:38:59]

Yeah, but Xander, incredible performance by Xander, especially because, like, he did have to earn it. The. The moment in the back nine when he lost the lead for a minute, I think he had a bogey, and then he had, like, great shot after great shot. And even in the end, when he was playing a little safe with, like, three holes to go, but he actually had to birdie 18 to win the tournament was awesome. And Xander Schofley, he. I know, will keep going with the. He can't win the big one, but he was the only player in the top five world rankings without a major championship. He had made 25 major cuts in his career. In those 25 major cuts he made, he had 13 top ten, seven top fives, and four second or third place finishes. He was like the guy ready to do it. Like the. He. He had been so close so many times in playing such good golf. So, I mean. And short kings.

[00:39:59]

Very short king. Yeah, that bunker, that's totally normal. That's above average.

[00:40:02]

You could be anywhere from five seven to.

[00:40:04]

That's a five eight. You're not lumping 510 guys in with his short kinks.

[00:40:09]

Well, I mean, he's listed at five listed.

[00:40:11]

So he's like. He's like Bronny.

[00:40:12]

He's between five seven and five eight.

[00:40:14]

He's like Bronny. Was it on 18 that he had to hit that shot standing in the bunker, the ball on the lip of the bunker. That was a super hard shot.

[00:40:21]

Yeah.

[00:40:21]

And so he had to respond big time. Bryson played. Bryson got so lucky to bouncing it off a tree, having it land in the middle of the fairway.

[00:40:28]

Yeah.

[00:40:29]

And I had never noticed this about Bryson before. Maybe you guys have. You know, every golfer has the yardage book that they put in their back pocket. That giant book. And so his name is Bryson DeChambeau. He has two middle names. One of them starts with an a, so he just has the word bad sticking out of his. Out of his pocket.

[00:40:47]

We have two middle names.

[00:40:48]

He's got two middle names.

[00:40:49]

How fuck does that work?

[00:40:49]

I don't know. I think the second. The first one starts with, like, the letter l, so he just doesn't acknowledge that one.

[00:40:54]

Wait. Oh, that'd be funny. It was bald.

[00:40:56]

It was bald.

[00:40:56]

Yeah.

[00:40:57]

No, it's. I think it's bad. I think it's B L a d. But he's just walking around with bad sticking out of his ass.

[00:41:02]

Do we like Bryson now? Because I kind of do.

[00:41:04]

I was rooting for him, I'll be honest with you. So, yeah, here's. Here's what happened to me. I'm rooting against Xander Schofley simply for the narrative of Sander Shaft Lee not being able to win a major. And I find myself rooting for Bryson on Sunday on the back nine. I'm invested in every single one of Bryson shots. And it was a very strange feeling for me.

[00:41:23]

I did do something he. Because I said a couple weeks ago, like, I watched his YouTube videos and I found myself liking him more.

[00:41:29]

And.

[00:41:30]

And I think he birdied one of the first few holes, and he, like, walked off and looked at the camera like he was, like, doing a YouTube videos.

[00:41:35]

Yeah, he said that after. So. So for my. A major championship dude, my Bryson, the. The fact that I like him now, I've wrestled with this because I had the same feeling. Pft. Where I was like. I think I even tweeted. I was like, am I rooting for Bryson right now? I think I am. Brooks squashing the beef definitely helped us get there. I do think he also has gone a little bit of the JJ Watts story arc, where if you're so beyond corny and, like, do everything for the camera, if you can just dial it back a little and be somewhat normal person, will immediately just be like, you rock.

[00:42:12]

We've got the drive in him to produce all this content right there.

[00:42:16]

So someone asked him about that, Hank. Someone said you had some really big moments on the course this week. We're celebrating. How have you kind of embraced being a true showman on the course and celebrating those big moments? He said, yeah, it's actually funny. YouTube has helped me understand that a little bit more. When the moment comes, knowing what to do, what to say, how to act is really important. You know, when I was younger, I didn't understand what it was. Yeah. I would have a great celebration and whatnot, but I didn't know what it meant and what I was doing it necessarily for. Now, I'm doing it a lot more for the fans and for the people around and trying to be a bit of an entertainer that plays good golf every once in a while.

[00:42:49]

So he did answer. He did that for us.

[00:42:51]

Yeah, he.

[00:42:53]

Thank you.

[00:42:53]

He has come all the way back around where he's like, I'm. I can't just be so, like, weirdly standoffish and corny. I have to be a little bit of a human being. And it works for him now. Like, I feel like he's come into his own. Did you also see the clip where he threw the ball to the little kid and a adult grabbed it and tried to run off and he stopped. This is the middle of the tournament. Stopped and was like, get back here right now. And made the guy give the ball to the little kid?

[00:43:18]

Yeah. Revelle did not want to give that ball away.

[00:43:20]

No. That rocked, right? I. I like Bryson. How?

[00:43:24]

Okay, I'm not ready. I'm not ready to say that. That I like him, because it's a weird feeling. It's like my body's confused watching him. It's like, wait. I always thought that I've not liked watching this kind of stuff, and now it's on. I'm like, wait, it's. Is my body telling me I kind of like it a little bit.

[00:43:37]

Yeah.

[00:43:38]

And so it's a very confusing time, but it was. Yeah. I'm closer to liking Bryson than I've ever been. I'm very sexual.

[00:43:44]

Maybe it's. Bryson is like an IPA. Are you drinking IPA when you're 22?

[00:43:50]

Yeah.

[00:43:50]

And you're like, this is gross. And you get a little older, you're like, oh, this is kind of nice. Different flavor. Yeah.

[00:43:57]

Yeah, I'm not. I'm not opposed to it.

[00:43:59]

Yeah. I don't want. I don't want more than four or five.

[00:44:01]

I don't think I'm gonna go up to him and thank him for all the content that he puts out and tell him that I love to do.

[00:44:07]

Online I ever saw him. I definitely would just but it's getting closer just to say that.

[00:44:11]

Getting closer.

[00:44:12]

Yeah. Bryson. Damn. Is he the only guy who went to live and became cooler?

[00:44:18]

Brooks. Brooks.

[00:44:18]

Brooks.

[00:44:19]

Brooks was already cool, but he's so cool.

[00:44:21]

But, like, he didn't have. There's not nothing he. He does makes him cool. He's already the coolest. I'm saying Bryson went to live. Like, everyone goes. Has gone to live, and it feels like they've taken a ding. And in terms of public perception, Bryson somehow has beaten that.

[00:44:36]

Yeah.

[00:44:37]

John Rahm is a shell of himself. Did he not make the cut?

[00:44:41]

What's the story with Greg Norman? Is he. Everyone loves him now?

[00:44:44]

Oh, yeah. He was probably there.

[00:44:45]

Remember his hand? Was he hurt his hand from shaking so many hands at a gun?

[00:44:48]

Yeah. Yeah. People were probably coming up to him.

[00:44:51]

So he's gotten more. Yeah. His. His image has improved.

[00:44:53]

Yeah. Blocky. Didn't make the cut, either. Didn't finish dead last block. Hide. Tiger.

[00:44:59]

Blocky. Being all over tvs during this tournament was so funny.

[00:45:03]

That was. Yeah. I kind of wish that had never happened.

[00:45:07]

Nah, that whole one. That home one was cool. Yeah.

[00:45:12]

Yeah. The colon one was cool. All right. Yeah. That was cool.

[00:45:15]

Yeah. So, tiger. Tiger not looking so great. That's tough. It's tough watching him out there.

[00:45:21]

Also for guys like us who love the course. What a fucking pussy. Valhalla is got absolutely demolished lounge. What? This is from Justin Ray, one of the best in the business when it.

[00:45:35]

Comes to golf statistics.

[00:45:36]

Just give us a stat. Lowest combined score to par by field.

[00:45:42]

PGA championship history.

[00:45:44]

2024, Valhalla, 214 under par. The next 1995 Riviera, 40 over par for the field. Wow. That's crazy.

[00:45:56]

Wait. What course is that? Riviera.

[00:45:58]

Riviera.

[00:45:59]

40 over par.

[00:46:00]

40 over. All the scores combined. The entire field.

[00:46:03]

Respect.

[00:46:04]

The best ever by the field in a PGA Championship before this year was 40 over.

[00:46:08]

That's in this a 214. I mean, think about it. The. The. Let's see. I'm scrolling down. The 72nd position was. Was under par. Braden Shattuck went minus one, and he finished 72nd by himself. That's nuts.

[00:46:27]

It's embarrassing.

[00:46:28]

It's easy.

[00:46:28]

I.

[00:46:28]

We're arresting the best players.

[00:46:30]

Yeah. So they're arresting the best.

[00:46:31]

Only defense they have.

[00:46:32]

So it's an important question if you're a real golf fan, you're asking yourself this this morning. Should. Should the PGA Championship ever come back to Valhalla? You arrested the number one guy in the world. Your course got its pants pulled down, but it was a great finish. It was great finish, and they have great finishes.

[00:46:48]

There was a great finish, and, no, I got no other end.

[00:46:52]

And guys had to walk miles on Friday.

[00:46:55]

Yeah, I think it was Willie Z.

[00:46:57]

And a few others. They had to get out of their.

[00:46:58]

Car and just walk to the clubhouse.

[00:47:00]

Who says these guys aren't athletes?

[00:47:02]

Yeah. Can I also just say one thing about the golf broadcast and just watching these champ, these majors, which, you know, watching major golf is awesome. It's the best when you have a weekend. I already know what weekend the US Open is. It's. It's the best. Can they just stop trying to, like, will Rory down our throats? The guy is like, yeah, he competed at St. Andrews. He was close there. It feels like every major we watch, Rory is, you know, teeing off early on Sunday. He makes a couple good shots. They try to show us, like, well, look out for Rory. Yeah. What do you mean, look out for Rory? He was ten strokes off the lead.

[00:47:42]

I think you become a lookout for this guy, it's usually early in your career. If you win a few tournaments early, then you're just going to be talked about for the rest of your life. Like, if you're out there, oh, Rory's lurking.

[00:47:53]

He finished nine strokes off the lead, and they were showing him, like, down the stretch, being like, man, if he strings together a couple birdies here, he could be in the clubhouse seven strokes off the lead.

[00:48:05]

Yeah, they're always gonna do that for, like, a Rory.

[00:48:07]

It's just every time, speed to speed the leah. But Rory, it feels like it's just way too much, and it's just. Come on. I don't need. I want to see the live shots. Don't let me miss a live shot because you're trying to tell me that Rory could, you know, get six consecutive hole in ones and then still be three strokes off the lead.

[00:48:25]

They're playing a lot of old clips of him winning there in, what, 2014? Yeah. So the tie into the course was important for them. They want to highlight him as much as possible, but when they showed those clips, it really hammered home. He doesn't look like the same golfer that he was back then.

[00:48:40]

No. Look out for Rory.

[00:48:41]

Look out for Rory. Rory Larkin.

[00:48:43]

I'm going to keep, you know what? I'm good. I don't need to look out for him anymore.

[00:48:47]

I'm going to keep looking out for him. I'm going to remain vigilant.

[00:48:49]

You could stand back and stand by.

[00:48:51]

Yeah, I'm not done with him yet.

[00:48:53]

All right. Anything else before we do who's back of the week sees the gray one, the kind of a disappointment because we wanted to see a triple crown and maybe asterisks with mystic Dan. Yeah, it was.

[00:49:07]

It would have been good for the sport.

[00:49:09]

Yeah, it was. Randy Moss nailed his pick on Friday. Shout out Randy.

[00:49:12]

He did. If you listen to Randy, he gives you the picks on Friday, and they always hit.

[00:49:16]

Yeah. And yeah, it was great. Sports weekend all around. All right, let's do who's back of the week. Who's back of the week? Brought to you by our friends at Coors Light. [00:50:39]

Who's back? The week is NASCAR fights.

[00:50:41]

Oh, yeah.

[00:50:43]

It's great.

[00:50:44]

Yeah.

[00:50:44]

Late Sunday night. Uh, who was it? Kyle soprano, Kyle Busch, Rowdy, and Ricky Stenhouse junior.

[00:50:54]

They're calling him Recky Stenhouse junior.

[00:50:56]

Yeah. I'm assuming it's because one of the guys drove the other one off the road.

[00:51:00]

Well, here's the crazy part about this fight. If you haven't seen the video, the fight, it's awesome. I think everyone in the world hates Kyle Busch. And every time I don't, but I'm saying, like all the other NASCAR drivers do. Every time Kyle Busch gets in a fight, it takes me a second. I'm like, is this Joey Logano?

[00:51:16]

Yeah.

[00:51:17]

And then I'm like, no, wait. No, it's not. It's Kyle Busch. But Ricky Stenhouse crashed, and I think the second lap. So he waited around for 198 laps to fight Kyle Busch after the race.

[00:51:31]

Respect.

[00:51:32]

So.

[00:51:32]

So if you're waiting like, that long, you. You have to throw.

[00:51:35]

And then, and then they, they had a confrontation, and Stenhouse was just having a, it looked like they were having a conversation. It was just like talking to each other. And then at one point, something snapped in Ricky's brain. He's like, fuck it, I'm just going to throw hands. And it looked like he got two shots and didn't knock him down. You got to knock him down with those. Yeah, I would like to see. And Kyle didn't fight back, so I don't know if he knew that a punch was coming or not, but he does have a punchable face.

[00:51:58]

Well, some of the other guys, like, some of the other team members came in, and they were, they were fighting.

[00:52:02]

After the crew started.

[00:52:04]

That's my favorite part.

[00:52:05]

It's great because it does feel like NASCAR has a special level of bad blood in all these fights because they see each other every weekend. They're wrecking every weekend. Yeah. These other guys just hopping in, just grabbing them. Awesome fight.

[00:52:18]

I would hire an MMA guy to be in my garage driver, just, like, ready to unleash him at any second.

[00:52:23]

Kyle Busch does have a punchable face. Do you guys do the same thing where you're like, is that Joey Logano?

[00:52:28]

I think it's Joey Logano. Because I'm like, I would like to punch Joey Logano.

[00:52:31]

Yes. I think it's just every time I see someone getting in a fight, I'm like, oh, here comes Joey slugano getting punched again.

[00:52:36]

Yeah. Whenever something bad happens to somebody on the Internet, my first thought is, usually, I hope that happened to Joey Slugano.

[00:52:42]

Yeah. Ricky Stenhouse junior might be just, I mean, he was born to be. That's a NASCAR name through and through. I'm sure his dad. I'm sure I'm NASCAR. People can be mad at me.

[00:52:52]

His name, sure.

[00:52:53]

He's like fourth generation NASCAR.

[00:52:55]

His name's probably actually just Ricky.

[00:52:57]

Yeah. Also like Rich Ricky Bobby. Yeah, Ricky. But Stenhouse. And a junior. Well, yeah, a Ricky or a junior. Yeah. No, you're proving my point.

[00:53:09]

Yeah.

[00:53:10]

Yeah. Right, right. I. Wait, hold on. I'm gonna look up Ricky Sin house and make sure. Let's see how many. How many lines of stenhouses. I don't know. I'm sure there's probably many.

[00:53:22]

It was a good fight, though.

[00:53:23]

It was good. Love.

[00:53:24]

A good scrap from the boys.

[00:53:25]

Yeah.

[00:53:26]

Great mother. Who's back. The week is interns. We're finally doing it. We're gonna post the, the link for people to apply to be our PMT summer intern this summer.

[00:53:39]

Oh, boy.

[00:53:40]

Looking for someone in Chicago, local. And there's a. Just fill the submission form. There's, there's place to put in videos and your resume, stuff like that. We'll probably do interviews the next couple week and then start after basketball ends.

[00:53:55]

Okay, what are we looking for?

[00:53:56]

I don't know. That's what I'm excited to find out.

[00:53:59]

Shorter, fat.

[00:54:00]

No.

[00:54:00]

Oh, you can't say that.

[00:54:02]

They can be, they can be any size.

[00:54:05]

Short and fat would be great.

[00:54:06]

Smaller. Smaller than me or wider.

[00:54:10]

Yeah, we can't say sizes. Okay. Strike that from the record. We would like a very qualified, qualified young man or woman.

[00:54:21]

Or older. Or to say young. Yeah.

[00:54:24]

Also. Yeah, you're right.

[00:54:25]

Old.

[00:54:25]

They could be old or middle aged.

[00:54:27]

Mm hmm.

[00:54:28]

Submit some content that you've done. Submit some content. Yeah, that's. We.

[00:54:31]

There is a video submission. So it's like, if you're trying to email us with like, please hire me. I would love you.

[00:54:36]

Like, you won't even get a second.

[00:54:37]

We're not gonna look twice that.

[00:54:38]

Yeah.

[00:54:39]

If you also, anyone have made videos to make videos or have built a.

[00:54:44]

Following on your own, like, it could even be a couple thousand people. That. That does get you a little bit more of a look because it means that you're actually creating content. You can't just be like, hey, my friends think I'm funny. I should be on the show.

[00:54:58]

Yeah.

[00:54:58]

And also it's not going to be necessarily on the show. Like, like, it's not like, hey, we're hiring someone to just sit on the show and hopefully you'll be our best friend. But you might not be.

[00:55:08]

Yeah. Think about listening to this. Right now is the start of your own personal championship dvd.

[00:55:12]

Yeah.

[00:55:13]

From here on out, especially if you're.

[00:55:14]

A shorter fat person. I can say it again. I'm not gonna say it again. I'm not gonna say it again. You just can't be. You can't be like, really, really good looking.

[00:55:24]

That's you. I.

[00:55:26]

We could say that, like, I would really, really good looking? Like, come on, dude, go get another job.

[00:55:30]

Yeah, I don't.

[00:55:31]

Don't work with us. We're fucking mutants. Unless you have a good following and.

[00:55:34]

You make good content.

[00:55:38]

No, no, we can't hire someone's, like, super good look. Although, what if they started dating Beyonce?

[00:55:44]

Send, like, a trained assassin out there just to start a famous female celebrity.

[00:55:50]

All right, good looking guys. Back in your Montana, boy. You can apply.

[00:55:54]

Let's just say this. Jay Z is welcome to join.

[00:55:56]

Jay Z. Are we sure?

[00:55:58]

No. Should I be sure about Jay?

[00:56:01]

Let's wait a little bit on that.

[00:56:03]

Okay.

[00:56:05]

Yeah. How about Diddy? Huh? Not a good guy diddy recap.

[00:56:10]

Shocker.

[00:56:10]

Yeah. Whoo. What do you say, Jake? This past weekend, it popped with my phone.

[00:56:15]

Was five years since my intern interview.

[00:56:17]

Whoa. My son.

[00:56:19]

I thought you're gonna. That was gonna be a diddy comment. The diddy video.

[00:56:23]

Interns, insurance. Insurance, interns. Anything else?

[00:56:29]

That's why it was back.

[00:56:30]

But nothing else about the interns?

[00:56:32]

No.

[00:56:32]

We'll post the links, apply, and then try and get it done the next couple weeks.

[00:56:39]

All right. Pft.

[00:56:40]

My. Who's back in the week?

[00:56:41]

Max just keeps shaking. I want to do the Jim cow. Don't shake your fucking head.

[00:56:46]

Why are you shaking?

[00:56:46]

Don't shake your fucking head. Not a dime back.

[00:56:49]

What's your issue, Max?

[00:56:50]

I have no issue.

[00:56:51]

I just know there's legal issues with.

[00:56:53]

Me saying that we want short and.

[00:56:55]

Fat people, which isn't.

[00:56:56]

Which is not true. It's something you could say, but I would never say it.

[00:57:00]

It's called satire.

[00:57:01]

It's a big time satire. Now I've actually boxed myself out. We can't hire short that person. Like, I fucked myself. Why?

[00:57:12]

Who's back? The week is shorts. Oh, short season. My other who's back of the week is sexual.

[00:57:18]

You almost got me on that.

[00:57:19]

Well, shorts are back.

[00:57:20]

Yeah, they are.

[00:57:20]

The weather's so nice. So nice wearing shorts all. I was waiting for big cat to just go, what about fats? Shorts and fats both back. My others, back of the week is sex stories from the Olympics. That's how you know the Olympics are about to happen.

[00:57:33]

Oh, shit, I forgot. The Olympics.

[00:57:34]

Yeah, this is how I found out.

[00:57:35]

Okay.

[00:57:36]

Actually, the New York Post put out an article about the beds that they built at the Olympics this year. They hired the same people from Tokyo 2020 when they built the sex proof beds because of COVID And they're like, we can't have athletes fucking. So they build these collapsible beds that are like stacked on cardboard boxes. Essentially, they can support one person's weight as long as they're not too fat.

[00:57:56]

This is, you're, you're right. Like, this is how the Olympics just let us know that. Just something about sex. Yeah.

[00:58:01]

It's usually like they've airlifted in 500 tons of condoms. That's another big story. But this, this is the second time in a row we're getting the sex bed story. So they're all, they're making the athletes sleep in single beds and they're built on these, like, cardboard frames. So it can't really fit two people space wise. And even if they try to, then it would collapse.

[00:58:21]

Yeah.

[00:58:22]

So I'm sure they'll figure out their way around it. They'll probably just fuck everywhere else in the room.

[00:58:26]

Yeah. I mean, it is the most athletic.

[00:58:28]

People in the world. I don't think they need a bed to have sex. People that need a bed to have sex are people like, like, or normal people like us.

[00:58:36]

Yeah.

[00:58:36]

Like if you don't have a bed, like you're gonna wake up in the morning, your back's gonna be thrown out.

[00:58:39]

Right.

[00:58:40]

But these people can, they can do it anywhere.

[00:58:42]

Yeah. I mean, it's the horniest collection of people in the world.

[00:58:44]

Yeah.

[00:58:45]

Because they're all insane shape and young and they've been training for this moment. The minute their moment is over, they're like, what are we gonna do? We're gonna eat McDonald's and have sex.

[00:58:53]

Yeah. It's honestly great. Yeah, good for them.

[00:58:55]

Good for them. All right, my who's back of the week? I was gonna say fights in general because the NASCAR fight, but we also had a heavyweight fight on Saturday. I don't know if you guys are able to tune in, but it was awesome. Tyson Fury lost. You sick. Beat him in twelve rounds. It was an awesome fight because Tyson Fury did his classic Tyson Fury where he was out basically cold on his.

[00:59:17]

Feet in the 9th, right.

[00:59:18]

And then still fought the rest of the fight and was close to winning it. But the right, the right fighter won, but it was just. Tyson Fury is just fun to watch fight because he just throws and you never know when he could be knocked out and then totally be fine the next round.

[00:59:34]

Yeah, I love it. So I didn't watch the entire fight. I did watch the highlights of the fight, including the walkouts, which you sec, won that. Yeah, hands down. And in the 9th round, I saw somebody posted a video that was filmed in their own living room of their television so that one didn't get posted, that one didn't get taken down online. So I was able to watch it and it was impressive because Tyson Fury, he gets knocked, it's a knockdown, but he never actually hit the ground.

[00:59:59]

They give him a standing eight, they.

[01:00:00]

Give him a standing eight count and then he came back and survived that somehow. If you can get knocked out on your feet and then continue to fight for another two rounds, you should almost get the win.

[01:00:10]

It was incredible to watch because he was in. Usek was awesome and just like kicking his ass in that 9th round. But still, Tyson Fury, I mean, he's done it many times before. He's like the one fighter when you watch. I chose my words carefully. I was like, Tyson Fury's in deep water because I knew he's the type of guy that if you're like, Tyson Fury's done. Yeah, he'll come back and he'll just knock someone else out.

[01:00:33]

Him and Nate Diaz, yeah, they just.

[01:00:36]

They get, they just need to get knocked around a little bit. But it was a great fight. I think it was Tyson Fury's first loss, so. So now the automatic rematch.

[01:00:42]

I like that. But now you, Sec, is under undisputed, yes. Undisputed, yes. He has them all.

[01:00:47]

He's beaten everyone. And then Tyson Fury a little bit. Maybe not the nicest thing when he was just like, oh, yeah, you sick. He's ukrainian. They're at war. So people feel bad for him. That's why they voted for him. I was like, I don't think so. Yeah, I think he kind of knocked you out.

[01:01:01]

I think he won. Yeah, he won the fight.

[01:01:02]

Yeah. All right, Jake finishes off my. Who's back of the week is elite pitching. Oh, we had elite pitching at Wrigley Field on, in multiple ways. Yeah. Paul schemes on Friday. Oh, you work at a show to, I said multiple ways, chronological order. Okay, Paul schemes.

[01:01:18]

I think he struck out the first seven.

[01:01:20]

Battery did. He's awesome. And then your guy Shota. Shota on Saturday. Yeah, one nothing walk off. Yeah. Some people saying controversial, but. Oh, I mean, yeah, I mean, Cody Bellinger definitely hit it out of his hand. Yeah, I don't care. Clubs needed a win. They can't hit for shit. But yeah, Paul schemes. Paul schemes is really fucking hard.

[01:01:42]

I love it. I love it when, when young prospects step up and it's a big moment and they're better than you thought they'd be.

[01:01:47]

Oh, yeah. Having a sick pitching prospect who, I mean, he was, he won the national championship last year. And he's already up doing this. He's awesome.

[01:01:58]

So what are the rules on Shota.

[01:01:59]

By the way, is under one era. Just want to say he's fucking phenomenal.

[01:02:03]

What are the rules on hitting the ball out of a catcher's hand?

[01:02:06]

I would say that was probably illegal, but I don't care cuz it helped me.

[01:02:09]

I would say, okay, that's fair.

[01:02:11]

Well, it was a transfer. So he tagged him and then he transferred it. And then Bollinger kind of knocked it out. It wasn't like an a rod knocking out where he had to go out of the way. His hands were up to slide so it. It looked natural. Yeah, I think that's why they didn't.

[01:02:27]

Overturn it cuz the ump was screened off from that.

[01:02:29]

But I can be honest and say that, yes, he hit the ball out of his hand.

[01:02:32]

Yeah. My rule of thumb on all plays like these is did they call it?

[01:02:37]

They reviewed it and they gave it to the Cubs.

[01:02:39]

Yeah. So they didn't call it, so they.

[01:02:42]

Called them safe and they reviewed it and then the Cubs won.

[01:02:44]

Yeah. So I think that's right.

[01:02:46]

And the Cubs needed to win. My. My son, by the way, today I took him to Wrigley for five innings and he was like, dad, there's a ticket lady. I was like, this is a proud, proud moment.

[01:02:56]

She tell him, that's Chuck E. Cheese grapple.

[01:02:58]

I was just like, no, he's the. He. He's not Chuck E. Cheese. That's my daughter. He's. He knows the 50 50 raffle again, we lost. He's a fucking mush. But still, for him to be like, hey, there's the ticket lady. Yeah, that's a pretty. Actually, I think he said, there's the ticket girl. And it was, if you've ever been to Wrigley, everyone who works at Wrigley is 85 years old.

[01:03:19]

I can't believe we didn't put that together sooner. That your daughter is just like you. You both go places, spend a lot of money on tickets that don't get you anything.

[01:03:27]

Yeah, well, my son was today with the ticket girl. Yeah, my. Yeah, my daughter, Chuck E. Cheese. Yeah, but they both know.

[01:03:32]

But I'm saying yes.

[01:03:33]

You, yes.

[01:03:34]

And your daughter.

[01:03:35]

Yes.

[01:03:35]

Are the same person?

[01:03:36]

Yes, absolutely. 100%.

[01:03:38]

Yep.

[01:03:38]

[01:05:28]

Okay, we now welcome on a very special guest. You can see him on ESPN for the Stanley cup playoffs. He played many years in the NHL. It is PK Suban. PK, first of all, thank you for joining us. We want to. We have a ton of questions, but I think we have to start with the game that you will be in the broadcast studio for tonight as we air this on Monday. Game seven, Canucks Oilers. So I guess the first question is, who do you have winning? And then if the Oilers don't win, are we, as fans, allowed to say that McDavid can't win the big one?

[01:06:05]

Well, first of all, I picked Edmonton to win this series. I believe in six. So I got to check my bracket for exact numbers. But I had Edmonton winning this and you know, I always bet on the players. So when I think of who am I going up against or who am I going to watch play this round, I'm saying Conor McDavid, this is, you know, he's had a couple cracks at this. Now I have to feel that his best hockey is going to continue to get better as the playoffs go on and we're going to see more and more of it over the years. So I just think that their team this year, coming down the stretch, I thought they were playing such great hockey. I had the confidence to say, you know what? I think Edmonton won this in 6th now that it's in seven games. And I've seen the Vancouver Canucks now go, you know, lose their number one goaltender, lose their number two goaltender, have Susie missed a game, have guys in and out of the lineup, guys banged up Elias Patterson, you know, kind of just woke up in game five, right, came alive, came into the series really and is now having an impact.

[01:07:06]

I really think this is going to be a tough game seven for Edmonton to win. I believe that. I know that they had it all going on in game six, but I think Vancouver at home, you know, coached by Rick Talkett, you know, these guys, you know, they're going to have to fight for every edge. You know, McDavid and dry Seidel aren't getting any free passes and Vancouver is definitely going to, you know, they're going to clean up the fact that they took too many penalties in game six. So I expect them to be more disciplined. But I'm going to ride with Conor McDavid. When it's all said and done, I'm going to say that I think Conor figures it out, finds a way to get his team over the hump and into a conference final. Now, if they do lose, I, I think it's outrageous to think that Conor McDavid can't win a Stanley cup or is it good enough to win one? I think people are insane for thinking that.

[01:07:53]

Agree.

[01:07:53]

I won't even, I will entertain it on your podcast because I know who you guys are. You guys, you guys have my respect in this game and you guys obviously have earned a lot of people's respect. But for most people that talk about Conor McDavid, I don't even have the discussion with them about it because I said this guy's the best player that maybe we've ever seen play the game skill wise, stuff that he can do out there. So it's a team sport. Hockey's the ultimate team sport. You've got to have the horses to win. And I still don't think that their team, on paper is good enough to win the Stanley cup this year. But it's not always about what's on paper. Right. It's getting bodies healthy and, and elevating your game at the right time.

[01:08:32]

And I'll speak for myself, but I think I might speak for PFT as well when I say that Conor McDavid is so much fun to watch. He's so good. He's the best player in the sport. We believe all those things, but we wouldn't be doing our job if we didn't latch on to a very easy can't win the big one narrative that's like the best thing to do in sports is like, can't win the big one.

[01:08:54]

Just put it in NBA terms. For me, it sounds like he's the NHL version of Chris Paul.

[01:08:58]

Yeah.

[01:08:59]

Can't win the ball. Hold on, hold on. Whoa. No offense to Chris Paul. Love Chris Paul. Veteran guy, grinded out the NBA, played at an elite level for a long time. Like, I got nothing bad to say about Chris, but Chris Paul. But he's not in the same category as Conor McDavid in terms of impact in the sport. Connor McDavid, like, we're talking about putting the all time greats together and who is the most talented. Like, Conor McDavid is coming out of that group. Like, there's no one even close that can do the things at top speed that he does night in and night out. Like guys, he, if he wants to put up three, four points a night, he can. That may not always result in his team winning a hockey game. That's what's, that's why the Stanley cup is the hardest trophy to win. Right. Is it's not just about an individual taking over a game. I would, though, I would say this. If the Edmonton Oilers lose in game seven and Conor McDavid doesn't show up on the score sheet or doesn't show to have been the best player, one of the best players on the ice, then 100% there's got to be questions asked about why, whether he and I didn't think in game six, he shot the puck enough.

[01:10:05]

Yeah, he had three assists, but I've seen him be way more aggressive than that. So is he injured? Is he bagged up? Is he 100%? I don't know, but we have to see his best game come game seven of the season. He has to. And, you know, I give him credit, though. He's been extremely patient. He's been a leader. He's really grown into that role. He hasn't tried to force the envelope. He hasn't tried to do too much. It really looks like he's settling to how he has to play to win in the playoffs. And I think that that's what we have, the people that know hockey and watch the game, we see those things. So, yeah, you can't, you can't say that this guy can't win.

[01:10:43]

I'm definitely going to because it's fun.

[01:10:45]

To say that and he hasn't. Chris Paul's been to a finals, right?

[01:10:48]

He's, he did go to the finals.

[01:10:50]

Yeah. Has Conor McDavid. So I mean, we can say all these things.

[01:10:53]

He lost to Yanis again.

[01:10:54]

We don't want to. This hurts me. I like Conor McDavid a lot. I love watching him play hockey. But we wouldn't be doing our job if we didn't say this. And we kind of got you in the argument right there because you started saying like, if he doesn't show up in game seven, we got you, we drug you down to the death.

[01:11:09]

Speaker three, I don't give any players a free pass. Conor McDavid at the start of the playoffs, I said, okay, I've seen this guy now four or five, six years in the playoffs where he's getting three, four points a game, but they're still losing. So I'm saying that he's got to make adjustments in his game like Sidney Crosby did. When Sidney Crosby, if you watch Sidney Crosby's career, his game changed like three different times, man. He reinvented himself and added things to his game. That's why I still believe he's the best all around player in the game today. But as far as skill and skillset goes, that's Conor McDavid and he's still learning how to do that. So it's difficult to become a winner in this league. It's not just based on you. I think Edmonton has enough pieces, but does he have the team, the full team to win a championship? I don't think you can put that pressure on him. Listen, he's going to put the pressure on the team. He wants to win. So he's going to say, yeah, Stanley cup or bust. But when you look at the National Hockey League and teams to win the cup, Edmonton's team on paper isn't where the Dallas Stars were even the Vegas Gold Knights Rangers in Florida doesn't mean they can't win.

[01:12:15]

You know, that's why you have the best player in the world and you have Leon Dresdeit, because you always have a chance when you have those guys on the ice.

[01:12:21]

So I looked up, should we have the time on ice per game conversation?

[01:12:25]

Yeah, sure.

[01:12:26]

I looked up the time on ice for Conor McDavid. He plays this year he played 21 minutes, 22 seconds per game. That was his average. Nikola Jokic plays 40 minutes per game in the NBA.

[01:12:37]

That's a lot.

[01:12:37]

Why doesn't Conor McDavid just play more?

[01:12:39]

Oh, Patrick Mahomes, I think took every single offensive snap.

[01:12:42]

Okay. For the Chiefs full game and the super.

[01:12:45]

Let me, let me tell you why. So in football and basketball, you can run out of bounds. So Patrick Mahomes getting chased by a tight, he's getting chased by a linebacker, he can run out of bounds, he doesn't have to get hit. Where's Connor McDavid going? If Zidorov tries to chase him around the ice anywhere?

[01:13:02]

It's a good point. I looked, it's a fair point. So I looked up Christian Pulisic, minutes per game. He plays usually the entire game in soccer.

[01:13:10]

So. Wow.

[01:13:11]

Yeah.

[01:13:12]

Different sport.

[01:13:13]

Yeah.

[01:13:14]

And by the way, two out of those three sports you named football, basketball and soccer. Well, I'm going to tell you something right now in terms of toughness. We're not going to talk about soccer with hockey players. Not taking it away from soccer. But it's not even, they're not even in the conversation. Football's in the conversation. Different sport. Right. A whole lot more players, less players in hockey. Not only that, you can't play the whole, you can't play the whole game in hockey. Do you know how hard it is to play hockey? 45 2nd shifts, all out, going 30 miles an hour, blocking shots like it's a different game. So I don't think you can compare Patrick Mahomes to Conor McDavid.

[01:13:53]

Yeah, because he plays the whole time.

[01:13:55]

Right. In terms of their impact. Yes. And their skill set. Yes. But as far as like how much they're on the field or on the ice, it's like apples to orange.

[01:14:06]

Okay, we're done fucking.

[01:14:08]

Yeah. Welcome to part of my take. We did. That was our.

[01:14:14]

Like it.

[01:14:15]

Yeah.

[01:14:16]

You showed some fighting. Yeah. Speaking of fighting, I. So we're hockey fans. I think we're probably the definition of casuals on this show. But we love watching, especially playoff hockey. The one thing that I am always missing in playoff hockey is more fighting. And. And I just had an idea for a rule. Want to get your take on it? What if you just said in the playoffs, each team gets one fight per game and it doesn't get penalized? People, they don't want to fight in the playoffs because they don't want to take a stupid penalty. They want to put themselves in a position where they might get bounced and their season's over because they fought somebody. Why don't we just do one fight per game and it's totally legal? You can do that. Go back, send your guys back to the bench. Afterwards, your enforcers skate off the ice. They can come back whenever, but just one per game. As like, as like a free pass.

[01:15:00]

Leave fighting alone. If the players want to fight, let them fight. How do you want to put a limit on it? If guys want to fight, let them go. Like, the reality of the game is today you need guys that can play. So if you, if you end up going and drafting 22 guys that can play, first rounders that can play in different positions, and they happen to know how to fight great, you're going to have a really skilled and tough team. It don't mean you're going to win anything. So, you know, what I'm saying is we saw Matthew Kachuk and David Bastianak fight in the playoffs. What's better than that? Seeing two stars go at it. Right? Like you want to talk about it. I would have loved to see Colby and LeBron duke it out in basketball at some point in time, but that was never going to happen because in basketball, they don't let him fight, right? So what I'm saying is hockey has that special element to it that if the star players get, when they get emotionally engaged, and this is what we love about the Stanley cup playoffs, is that in other sports, I feel like you can play and not be fully engaged.

[01:16:01]

In hockey, you can't take a shift off. Like you can't. Like you could take. If you lose your focus for 1 second, that can cost you your season or it can cost you. Listen, it can cost you your personal playoff run. You can get hurt, seriously hurt. We've seen guys get hurt. So Stanley cup playoffs is no joke. And when it comes to fighting, I love to see it in the game at the right time. And now every team usually has maybe one guy that can go, a heavyweight guy, I don't mind seeing him go once in a while, but don't put a limit on it. Let the guys go. They want to go? Let them go.

[01:16:32]

Okay. I like that.

[01:16:33]

That's even a better idea. Yeah.

[01:16:34]

Okay. So we talked about the Oilers Canucks, waiting for them as the Dallas Stars, who have looked really, really good in these playoffs, especially the first round. You know, in talking our hockey guys wit and biz, they both said, like, the Knights or the stars could easily win the Stanley cup. The fact they have to play each other in the first round is crazy. But what is it about the stars and the way they're playing? Is it just the depth they have and they just can roll out the lines or what? What has impressed you with the stars thus far?

[01:17:01]

Well, what's impressed me the most is let's give Jim Nil credit. I mean, to build this team the way that he's built it, the credit has to start there. And, you know, I took. I started doing media not because I wanted to expose the players. The players are the product. I want to uplift the players and celebrate them. I'd probably be more inclined to be a little bit more judgmental and critical of management, coaches and GM's and stuff like that. But when I see a GM that has been consistently making his team better every year, and it's been a while, Jim mills been at it, right? Like to see Dallas. I've seen that team go through some shift overs and trades. He's talking about Radulov and different guys. Nichushkin used to play there, guys who have come through there, and they've just managed to draft so well, bring in free agents, slot them in at the right place. So I think that this is a team that has been so well built from top to bottom, and Jim Nil deserves a lot of credit. Pete Devore, we know how great of a coach he is.

[01:18:04]

So now he's taken those pieces and he's getting the most out of them every night. But more importantly, it's structure, it's discipline, and it's giving everybody a role. Everybody is important on that Dallas stars team. When you watch them play, everybody's embraced the same way, and it starts with leadership. Jamie Ben has been at it for a long time, and he wants to win. And you can see he's the right leader. You can see him physically. Whether he has to step up and score a big goal, he's doing it. But it's their temperament for me. And listen, you have Joe Pavelski. You got Ryan Souter on the back end. You got Jay Ottinger, Annette, who's in the top five goalies. It's just for me the main ingredient for them outside of their veterans, their experience, it's the young players. I mean, stank, coven, Wyatt, Johnston, like Steele, like these guys have come in and made a huge difference. Without those guys, they're not in the position that they're in right now. Those guys are bringing a tremendous amount of energy and juice to that team that allows them to sustain that structure and that playing style.

[01:19:04]

Game in and game out. Like you watch Dallas, they're rarely out of a game. Like, when do you ever see them completely out of the game? They're in the mix because they have a great balance of young and veteran players, and it's the right mix, right leadership, and it starts with the management at the top. Dallas has. They're in a perfect spot right now. I mean, they got to be really, really excited about the opportunity they have.

[01:19:25]

Yeah, yeah.

[01:19:26]

Rest up a little bit. So sticking out west, actually kind of a bigger picture. Question for you. Do you think this is as big as hockey's ever been in the history of the sport?

[01:19:37]

I think it's a pivotal time. I think with the changing landscape in media and in sports in general. There's just been a lot of changes over the past, let's say six to eight years, you know, just in the world in general and the shift and, you know, live television and sports, it's become right to the forefront and it's just continued to grow. And I think that has opened up a lane for hockey because in my opinion, since I played the game, hockey is probably the only professional sport that has, like, an immense amount of room for growth. You know, like, we're just tapping in to what? Like, people are just discovering our sport in some ways. And it's crazy because there's an immense amount of history there. And that's what people hang their hat on. That's what people want to celebrate, is history. And hockey's got a tremendous amount of rich history. So once we get people to just sit down and get to know the game and understand the game, and then once we get them, that little bit of intrigueness, we have them. We don't lose our fans. Our fans stay. Hockey fans stay.

[01:20:41]

They're loyal fans. So I think that coming over to ESPN has definitely helped using that platform, and we're trying to do the best that we can to grow the game. But make no doubt about it starts with the players and the product starts with guys like Conor McDavid, the jack fuses of the world, all these guys, the Lafreniers, even Annette, the goaltender, shuster it's just we have so many, so much great talent in the game today, from young guys that are in the mid part of their career to the veterans like Crosby, Novechkin. It's just a great mix, and it's really entertaining to watch every night.

[01:21:15]

Yeah.

[01:21:15]

So can you explain to us maybe some people out there that are relatively new to hockey, what is goalie interference and why is it so hard to call?

[01:21:22]

Well, okay, so I get a lot of questions about officiating, and everybody makes a big deal out of it. You know, I was one of those players that I give it to, the ref. You know, I was always polite, never swore at them, like, but I was always engaged emotionally. So I was very opinionated about certain calls. But the one thing that I've realized now is that one night I'll be sitting there watching and there'll be a call and I'll be, I'll sound off on, like, that's goaltender interference, and then, you know, I'll do it. I notice there's a trend. It's like every night I'm doing it, and it's like we forget that. Like, there's humans out there making these calls. Like, it's not, like it's not automatic. And by the way, it's so easy when you're watching the game to pick it out. Like, most of the time now, when I'm watching it, I'm like, man, it's a tough job being a referee in the National Hockey League in any sport. I'm watching the NBA, NFL. Like, we're really, really tough on the officials. And I think that because we have so many cameras now, we have social media we can replay, we can break down, slow things down.

[01:22:26]

It just gets more and more. So I try to pick my spots. I think if something's egregiously obvious, I call it out, but most of the time, it balances itself out. Like what? Some games you're going to get your power plays, some games you're not, those games that you're not getting it. You got to work a little bit harder. But the reality is that, like, we all know as players. I'll give you an example. Vancouver and Edmonton the other night, right? I know we're talking goaltender interference, but Vancouver, Edmonton, I'm watching the game and I see Zidora, right, going to the corner and let go of his stick to kind of let the player through so he doesn't have to impede. As he moves his arm up, he grazes them in the head. Guy snaps his head back gets a penalty. Dakota, Joshua, same thing. High stick in front of the net, right? Accidental kind of comes up. Boom. But here's what I'm saying. It's like, okay, those are soft calls. I don't want to see those called. But you got to know this. In the fucking playoffs, you got to have your stick down on the ice.

[01:23:20]

You bring your stick up around anybody's head or shoulders, you're at risk to get called. And in a game, six or seven, I wouldn't even be taking that risk. Don't make it a judgment call for the rest. And I think that sometimes the players got to be smarter about how they play. And it's not always about going into the corner like a bat out of hell trying to get the puck. Sometimes you got to be smart and be efficient. Read the clock, understand the timing of the game, and don't put yourself in that position because the refs got to make calls, too. But goaltender interference, here's what I say. I watched Conor McDavid last night. He cuts back, and he kind of goes in behind the defenseman to try to screen. If you're a player going to the net, you cannot slide in behind the defenseman. It's one of the dumbest things to do as a four because all the defense is going to do is back up because he's entitled to that ice. He's going to back up. You're going to hit the goaltender, and anything that happens after that, now, it's a 50 50 now.

[01:24:14]

You don't know, like now. So you got to stay above the blue paint if you're a player, and stay out of the crease. Do not get in the crease once you're in the crease. Whether you're pushed in doesn't matter. It's a judgment call for the rep. And then I'm not going to argue with the ref whether he thinks it's goaltender interference or not. You go to the net, you got to go to the net hard, but you got to be responsible for your body. And guys are so smart. They're so good at selling calls and, you know, selling when somebody hits them. It's just a difficult time to be a referee. So, you know, it's. It's a gray line. But I always say, you can't touch the gold tenders. We have some of the best goaltenders in the league. They got to be able to make the same.

[01:24:52]

And it also. I mean, playoff hockey is great because you do feel like to win a Stanley cup and to advance in all these rounds, you have to get a certain amount of, like, the dirty goals. The goals that are like, you know, deflections and guys in traffic in front and just, you know, lucky tip ins and all that stuff. So it's so much fun to watch. And then you do get those 50 50 calls. I. Some of the stuff that we've seen so far in the past. I know you had a take on the Sam Bennett Brad Marshawn punch. You thought it was okay, because Brad Marshawn has done enough in his past to maybe get one going his way. I mean, I like. I like all kinds of stuff in hockey. Like that. No, you're shaking your head. No, it was okay.

[01:25:36]

No, you misquoted me. I'm not shaking my head. You. I want to be clear on that. But I heard so many people speak out on this and say, oh, my God, pk's a scumbag. He said that Brad Marchau deserved it. And you know what I say to those people? Like, even if that was my intent, so be it. I don't care about what any of you think anyway. I wish I was still playing so I could go up against the Bruins and run hell at TD Garden and through Boston. But I'm not playing anymore. So I got to call it real, whether it's Brad March on, whether it's Sam Bennett, I'm calling it down the middle. In the way that I see it. I don't care. It has nothing to do with me playing in Montreal. So people always want to tie me into that. And it's not that at all.

[01:26:19]

So what I said was this.

[01:26:21]

Yeah, this is what I said. I said, brad march on has gotten over on hundreds, maybe thousands of players over his career. I've won a gold medal with Brad Marchawn at the world juniors. And by the way, like, I would say this, sitting next to Brad, because, a, I know him personally love the guy, b, I respect his game, even though that we've gone head to head a million times. So anything I would ever say, I would say to his face, Brad knows this. And this is why I was so proud of him in the interview that he did, because that's part of the game. Yeah, like, you gotta toe the line. And Sam Bennett in playoffs, like Brad said, dude, 100%. You're trying to listen to me. You think that someone go look at some of the highlights of my hits. You think I'm just trying to separate the man from the puck? Absolutely not. I'm trying to make sure that he doesn't come down my side for the rest of the series. Well, you got to inflict pain to do that. And when you do that, somebody may get hurt. And here's the thing that I'm going to say, play off hockey.

[01:27:23]

At the end of the day, it's one moment you're here, the next moment you might be golfing. Guys are planned to put food on their tables, money in their pockets, feed their families, and more importantly, live out their dream of hoisting the Stanley cup, which, by the way, 700 plus guys dreamt about that their whole lives to start the season. And it's going to come down to 25 guys that are going to fulfill that dream at the end of the season. So if you think that guys are going to go out there and tiptoe around each other and aren't going to look to take a shot at a dude if he's exposing he's a star player, you're nuts. You're absolutely nuts. And I don't want that out of the game, by the way. People really want. No, you're telling me that I've never been cheap shotted before. You're telling me that Luci, Marshawn, Chara boy, check. Barra, Gregory Campbell, Sean Thornton, McQuaid. You don't think that any of those guys, Chris, Kelly, you don't think those guys took their shots at when I was 19 or 20? And guess what? I love them for it.

[01:28:22]

That's a part of the game.

[01:28:24]

Yeah.

[01:28:24]

Some days you're the dog, some days you're the Hydra, right? So you got.

[01:28:28]

Listen, you got so fired up there, PK. I think your headphones. I think your headphones. Wait, wait. Talk again.

[01:28:35]

Can you hear me now?

[01:28:36]

Yeah. You sound like you went underwater for a second. You got so fired up. I liked it so much.

[01:28:41]

Can you still hear me?

[01:28:42]

It still sounds like you're underwater.

[01:28:44]

Hold on.

[01:28:46]

That was a great speech. All right, that's better.

[01:28:49]

No, but honestly, because. Because. Because I get really upset about it. Because people try to take hockey and make it into something that it's not and it's never going to happen. Like, I'm telling you right now, they're going to have to take me off. Off the tv screen because I'm never going to change my opinion of it. And it's because I know the players. I know what the players want. We want that element of it. Like, I don't. I don't care to anyone. When I watched Don Cherry's highlight tapes my whole life, that's what I grew up watching. By the way, I watched more of Don Cherry rock'em sock'em tapes than I probably did of NHL hockey games growing up because all I wanted to do was play in the playoffs and have blood coming down my head and raising a Stanley cup and stitches and the bruise. Like, that's what you dreamt about. So for the average fan that sits and watches it, that loves to put on the sweater because they're from Dorchester or they're from Toronto or they're from New York and they're from Staten island and they're a fan of their team, that's great and all, but these players, they're the warriors that go out and do the job.

[01:29:53]

They're the guys that actually go out and take the hits and block the shots and get the stitches and lose the teeth and get the concussions and the broken bones and deal with the pain and the aches that they have to deal with for the rest of their lives. Right. And everybody else has to do that in pro sports, but they're not playing hockey. They're not playing on a frozen, you know, piece of ice in a cage, basically, you know, going at 40 miles an hour, getting hit with frozen pucks and high stakes and losing teeth. So the players want that because we're playing for the glory of it. That's why it's Lord Stanley. The glory of winning a championship and being successful and having success in the playoffs is paying a toll and a price, and everybody wants to pay that price. Don't take that away from the players like you're taking that away by trying to point out, well, this guy's a dog. Yeah, of course he's a dog. They're trying to get over on each other. They're trying to win. They're trying to. The best part about that series was watching Sam Bennett and Brad Marshawn shake hands.

[01:30:52]

I mean, it's. It's an f you to all those fans out there that try to take that component out of the game. Yes. If you get caught doing it, we got to talk about it. You're getting suspended, you're getting fine. But if you don't, we still got to celebrate it because that's. Those are elements of the game that impact who wins and who doesn't. And I think it's important to have. It's always been a part of hockey. It should always be a part of it.

[01:31:17]

I'm happy I brought it up because that fired me up. Yeah, fired me the up.

[01:31:20]

You talk about people trying to get things out of the game, what they're doing. You can watch the slow mo replays and you can take it frame by frame. Then you judge somebody's intent and what they're trying to do based on this frame as opposed to what happened one millisecond before that. And the games played on ice. You've got fucking razor blades on your shoes. And like you said, you're going 40 miles an hour at somebody. Sometimes they try to legislate it by, like, the smallest minor detail that they see on an instant replay, which I don't think that's how. That's not how any sport should be done.

[01:31:50]

No. And by the way, like, it doesn't have to be. Guys, listen, Stanley cup final. I'm playing out my dream. We're in Pittsburgh, game one. Crosby, I'm with Nashville. I scored the first goal of the Stanley cup final. It gets called back on Philip Forsberg's alleged toe being off the ice, and the goal gets called back. They take away the amendment. Pittsburgh scores three. We come back, tie the game, but we end up losing, right? We end up losing series. We had two goals called back. I'm never going to complain about the officiating in any of those. It's never going to happen because that's a part of the game. I'm sure there were other games through that stretch of hockey during that playoffs where we got some favorable calls. It's just the way it is. So, you know, I'm not going to sit and debate it every night with fans that want to try to take certain things out of the game. This is hockey. I'm going to tell people again, if you don't like it, go play pickleball. Go play volleyball. Go pick. Go ahead, go play golf. That this isn't the sport for you.

[01:32:54]

This is. This is for people that love the fact that guys go out and put their body on the line every night. They understand what's at stake when they take the ice, especially in the Stanley cup playoffs.

[01:33:03]

Yeah.

[01:33:04]

Yeah. So how bad does it suck to block a shot in the playoffs?

[01:33:07]

Horrible. It's the worst thing ever. I never, ever want to tell people that it's great. It's not. It's not a fun part. That's why I have so much respect for players that do it. And there's some guys who have to do it more than others, but everybody in the playoffs has to block shots. And anybody that tells you it's fun, there's nothing fun about it. And I have respect for guys because when I played, I was pretty much shooting pucks over 100 miles an hour every time I was shooting those one timers and there were some guys that never blinked to get in the way. And, you know, I've seen shattered hands, tibias, fibulas, shattered ankles, everything, you know, and it's just, once again, it's the price that you pay to play. So to get an opinion from people on the outside that have never blocked a shot, try to tell people what should be going on on the ice, it's just. I don't want to hear it.

[01:33:56]

All right. So in the east, we talked a little bit about the Panthers. Panthers, Rangers, though, who do you have winning this series? And I mean, the Rangers, like, it felt like they were headed towards an all time collapse with that game. Game six against the Hurricanes and being, having to go to a game seven, like, oh my God, they're up 30 and maybe a game seven. Panthers look really, really good. Who do you have winning and why?

[01:34:21]

So I'm going to pick the Rangers and I'm going to tell you why I have to get into this explanation because it's detailed and it's very, very important because it lines up the perspective of the series of things to look for. I watched a game earlier this year. I was away on vacation and it was between Florida and the Rangers. And Barkov, I think was missing from that game. I think Florida had Barkov missing, maybe forceling was missing. The game ended up going into overtime. Rangers ended up winning an overtime or shootout. And I watched that game and after the game, the first thing that I said was, you know, Florida Panthers were the better team. Like I thought they were the better team. They controlled play. They shrunk the ice. And the Rangers are going to have to be a whole lot tougher if they see Florida in the playoffs. And I'm sitting here now watching a Rangers team that has battled through adversity, that has shown that their power playing special teams can get the job done. They've also shown that Artemi Panarin is hungry for the moment, not looking to shy away from it.

[01:35:27]

Mika Zabinijad has shown up when they've needed him to show up. He doesn't need to be. Mika's a vinajad of when he was 23, 24 and dancing around the ice every shift, but he's got to be there to facilitate what she's done. They've gotten secondary scoring, Barkley, Goodrel, that's up their defense. This is where I want to talk about it. The Rangers have a deep bearing of Lindgren and Fox that has done very, very well. It'll be interesting to see what they do with their back end because this series is going to be just as much about matchups as any other. I don't think the Carolina series and the Washington series was as important for the Rangers and for Florida to match up. Probably more important for the Rangers than Florida. Florida just kind of plays the same style, but for the Rangers, matchups are going to be key because if you got Barkov and Matthew Kaczuk on a different line, I know Peter Laviolette likes to have Lindgren and Fox against the smaller, speedier guys. That's what they did in Carolina. They had Gensle and Jarvis against, right. They had Lindgren and Fox matched up against those guys.

[01:36:32]

So now he may have to change that up. And once you start changing up those matchups, it's all matchups now. And I think that that's going to be the game within the game. I think that whole mice is going to matter who gets the last change at different moments. But make no doubt about it. To simplify it. This series is going to be played in the corners and in front of the net. The Florida Panthers are going to take what rank the Rangers have been playing on for the past two rounds. It probably feels like an olympic size rink and they're going to shrink it to like a backyard rink and they're going to make it feel that way. And that's what Florida does. And if they do that to the Rangers and they're able to do that for an extended period of time, the Rangers will be in trouble. But if the Rangers can play their game, move pucks, break out clean, attack through the neutral zone, draw penalties, play that wide open style that we've seen them play and they can grind it out, but they're at their best when they're, when they're attacking and their transition game is quick and they three quarter ice the shit out of you, you know, on the ice, every turnover is back up.

[01:37:34]

They don't dust it off. They're not going D to D. It's right back up to the Fords and they're right back at you. If they play that game, they will have a ton of success. And I hope they do. I'm pulling for the Rangers at 93, 30 years. I want to see it happen. This team's played good hockey all year. I've watched them closely. I want to see them do it. But the Florida Panthers, they're going to look to get that game going and if they do, the Rangers could be in trouble.

[01:38:00]

So what do the Panthers have to do exactly to counteract what Laviolette's going to be doing with the Rangers? How do, how do they counteract his chess move?

[01:38:07]

Well, Florida's going to play their game. So the same game that you saw them play against Florida and, sorry, against not Florida, Boston, the same game that you saw them play in the first two rounds, they're going to be playing that same game against the Rangers. But there's going to be an emphasis on being physical on the Rangers defense because this is where I think it's going to be tough for the Rangers. Carolina, in my opinion, didn't have enough skill up front to put the puck in the right places and make enough plays in tight to put enough duress on the Rangers. They had spurts of it, but they couldn't sustain it. You need to sustain it and have that timely pressure. Like Boston. Boston structure gave Florida a little bit more trouble. But Florida, Florida didn't see their best game in that series. They were still, like, up and down, teetering. You're going to see the best Florida Panthers in this conference final. And if you're the New York Rangers, I don't think you're going to expect seeing, getting goals scored from the goal line and behind the goal line on Bobrovsky. I don't see.

[01:39:13]

I don't see that happening too often, if at all. So they're going to have to earn everything they get. And, you know, but for the Rangers, a big key is going to be attacking Florida's defense. I mean, Mikola's got to step up and play. This is a guy that played for them. They know him well. They have to continue to attack him. Kulakov and Florida's defense, you got to make it difficult on those guys because they're not as skilled as the Rangers players. They're not. So you got to make it difficult on them. You got to grind them, wear them down. But I think that the Florida Panthers, to have success against the Rangers, they're going to have to shrink that ice, which means a solid four check. F three has got to be above. They can't be giving up odd man rushes and their d got to be active. We saw what happened when Carolina's d got active against the Rangers. It gave them trouble. So once Brady, Shea and Orlov started getting involved in the attack, it gave him trouble, but it also opened up room for New York Rangers transition games. So I think for Florida, it's just playing that frustrating, airtight, solid game.

[01:40:15]

I listened to Barkov's interview that he had actually just last, yesterday, I think was yesterday or today. And he had said that, you know, for them, they want to think about defense first. Like they think defense first. They're not even thinking about offense. It's defense first. And I think he's going to be the key. If the Rangers can somewhat keep that guy at bay, Barkov, like, he's a problem to handle, he's going to be very, very difficult for them to handle. So they're going to have to keep him at bay. Let me turn the light on.

[01:40:45]

Yeah. I'm pumped up for to watch more playoff hockey with PK. Yeah, he does a great job of pumping you up.

[01:40:53]

I'm also excited.

[01:40:55]

I'm ready. I'm ready for this. I've been waiting all year.

[01:40:58]

All right, so I got a couple of other questions that maybe aren't going to pump us up. So true or false used to save all your farts, to use them on ice as in a competitive advantage.

[01:41:13]

I think I remember, I think I remember quoting that that's not true. Have I probably dropped a few bombs on the, I mean, maybe, I mean, listen, back, we go back to the days when I was eating chicken farmers. You know, I don't eat dairy anymore, so I'm sure there was a couple nights where that dairy was wasn't, you know, working too well with my system, if you know what I mean.

[01:41:37]

Okay. But yeah.

[01:41:38]

Can you explain to me the chicken parm thing? I love how much hockey players love chicken parm. Why is chicken parm the dish that hockey players eat?

[01:41:47]

Listen, I'm a little bit jealous that guys get to eat chicken Parm, like all the time. I never got to do that. I had to like, like guys. I put on weight so easily during the regular season. Like, it didn't matter how many minutes I was playing. Like at my peak, when I was burning like 3000 calories a game, I still had to be on like a program, like I could put. So my pregame meal became super, super tight as my career came on. It was like sweet potato. It was like veggies. It was like chicken. But 99% of the players, they walk in a pregame meal, they got a crazy coke, like pasta. Like the biggest plate of pasta, pasta that you could imagine. Like two chicken breasts, crazy sauce, cheese. And I'm sitting there eating like a rabbit and like, it's, it's crazy. I get super jealous because I'm like, the food looks so good, but I never get to eat it. So when I started my career, I was eating everything, and it's just. That's just what it is.

[01:42:44]

Yeah.

[01:42:44]

I love it. They love it.

[01:42:46]

So you would drop bombs at the beginning of your career to get a competitive.

[01:42:50]

Oh, I'm sure there was a few. I'm sure I kicked out a few. Oh, yeah.

[01:42:54]

All right, so my other question was, your name is Purnell. Why did you never go by Purnell? It's fucking awesome name. Like, was there ever a moment where you're like, maybe I'll switch? Because Purnell is like, that's a unique, cool name, you know?

[01:43:10]

So I'll tell you where Purnell comes from. It comes from Purnell Whitaker, who was a championship boxer. So my parents named me after him, and Carl's my father's name, so that's where we get PK from. But, you know, I was called Purnell until, like, to, like, kindergarten, like, grade two, and then, like, it just switched to PK. I don't know why it switched to PK, whether I did it or my parents did it, but it just ended up getting switched to PK, and that sort of stuck. I like PK. Cause I don't know. How many pks have you met?

[01:43:43]

Yeah, true. And penalty kill.

[01:43:45]

Penalty kill.

[01:43:46]

Yeah.

[01:43:47]

Principal's kid. My dad's a, you know, principal skit. I got a few other nicknames for it, but I don't know if I could say it on the air.

[01:43:55]

What. What is going back to Oilers and how good their penalty, their power play is? As a defenseman, what is the key to stopping a power play that is that good? And, like, what are you. What are you guys talking about? Before the series or before a game? Being like, this is what we have to do. Otherwise we're toast.

[01:44:14]

We'll stay out of the box. Like with Edmonton, you just got to stay out of the box. Some teams, you just can't, like, you can kill off one penalty. Let's just say one power play. It's a stupid one that you have to kill off for the game. You'll kill that one off. You'll find a way to kill it off. You know, maybe they don't get in the zone for a minute. They get in, you get lucky, you get a couple blocks, couple clears. McDavid's tired. He gets off the ice, and you're good. But when you start giving them extra two or three, you just can't. So the number one way to avoid having to deal with a power play is staying out of the box. So, and that's why people are so critical of the officiating, because there's so many good power plays like Edmonton, it's almost a guarantee that they're going to score or get a grade a scoring chance where your heart's like, you know what I mean? In your mouth. So you want to stay out of the box, but as a defenseman, oh, my God, I watched the way Vancouver killed penalties.

[01:45:09]

I loved it. They, you know, they, they had that net front d hold as long as he could in front of the net because it's an outnumbered situation. When you're against Edmonton, they're going to continue to put you in outnumbered situations around the net as many different ways and as many times as they can for two minutes. That's what they do. So you're constantly playing two on ones all over the ice. And because McDavid's such a good skater, he can create that two on one anywhere he wants. So really, it just comes down to whether they're clicking or not against Edmonton. But for the defenseman, stay loose. Just don't get tied up. Try to anticipate some plays and get, stay on your toes, but you got to take away the low ice. I would say this, if they're going to beat you, don't let them beat you with backdoor tap ins and easy tap ins around the net. Let them beat you from a bouchard one shot or something from outside, you know, like let them let it have to go off two legs and into the net. You'll take that, but you can't have the backdoor tap ins to dry sidle and stuff happen.

[01:46:11]

Yeah, it does feel like when you watch their power play, that is what they're doing is they slowly shrink it, shrink it, shrink it. And then all of a sudden it's like, oh, on the far side they have a two on one and there's going to be easy goal and it just like slowly happens where there's nothing you could do, passing it around perfectly.

[01:46:27]

Well, it comes down to this. How do you contain Conor McDavid? You can't. When he takes that puck and skates up top around the box, all he's doing is shifting players so there's gray areas in the zone that aren't covered, that can't be covered by the four guys that are out there. He skates up top and skates into those zones and he puts you in a bind where you got to make a decision. You got to take something away and when you do, he's finding the open option. That's why he gets paid $14 million a year, 12 million or 30. Because he does that continuously every single night.

[01:47:06]

Yeah.

[01:47:06]

How do you tame them? You flip the calendar to June, huh?

[01:47:10]

You hand him his driver. He said, go on, bud. It's time to hit the course.

[01:47:14]

We're just gonna run with this narrative because it is fun, you have to admit. It's a fun narrative.

[01:47:18]

We do it with every sport.

[01:47:20]

Yeah.

[01:47:20]

Like a Rod Dayton. Like, can't win the big one is great narrative.

[01:47:24]

You have to do is you have to find the bead, the best player at an impossible sport to play, and then figure out a reason to say, actually, they're not good.

[01:47:31]

Good. Yeah, they can't win the big one.

[01:47:32]

Yeah.

[01:47:33]

You know, I can't take myself there because I know how good he is.

[01:47:38]

Yeah.

[01:47:38]

Yeah.

[01:47:39]

Well, I know he's that good, but is he. It's. He can't win the big one, so.

[01:47:44]

But he can't win the big one.

[01:47:46]

Like, he. Guys, people are saying he had an off year this year where he was, like, hurt, banged up, like, off year. How many points did he have? How many assists?

[01:47:56]

How many cups?

[01:47:58]

Oh, jeez.

[01:48:00]

We're talking.

[01:48:01]

Can't win the big fucking rings.

[01:48:02]

Okay, hold on. Let's. If you guys want to talk cups, then what we should do is. I should come back on. We should. We should look at Conor McDavid. How many years has he played? Eight, nine years in the league. Okay, let's look at the eight, nine years. Let's look at the teams he's played on, and then we'll have a discussion on roster acquisitions, trades, okay? Drafting, let's.

[01:48:25]

No, I know, I know. PK, PK. We could do the whole thing right now. You ready? Here we go. All right. Has Conor McDavid won the big one? I think we. Okay. All right. So.

[01:48:41]

You can throw whatever advanced analytics, draft metrics. You can throw anything at us, because.

[01:48:47]

I love Carver, David. Like, I. When he came and played against the Blackhawks this year, I was like, I have to go to this game. And I like. Watching him play hockey is an out of body experience. He looks so much faster than everyone else on the ice. But again, we have to, as our job, say he can't win the big one.

[01:49:05]

They said that about Messi, too, you know, and then Messi proved us all.

[01:49:07]

Wrong and he won the big one.

[01:49:08]

Now he won the big one.

[01:49:11]

Before I say that, I would probably go through with a fine tooth combination of management decisions in his tenure there, and I would look at the teams that were built around him again, because if you have that much talent, I'm going to tell you, there were missed opportunities. I could say that. I don't even have to go into the details of it. I can tell you this, though. There are missed opportunities with teams to go out and acquire certain players, drafting, all of that. Drafting is the biggest one. That's why I give Jim Niel his props, because that guy went out and drafted properly. He did his research. His scouts did their research. They drafted well. And now it's paying off dividends whether they win the cup or not. People notice how deep their team is. They have tremendous depth because of drafting. So have the Edmonton Oilers drafted well? When they drafted Conor McDavid, they drafted Nugent Hopkins. They drafted Darnell nurse. They drafted Bouchard. They drafted some really good players. But there's a lot of other players that didn't work out that they drafted as well. There's free agent signings that didn't work out.

[01:50:13]

Like, that affects your team. You can't mess up in the draft.

[01:50:16]

I can't do that. I'm actually, I'm looking at their draft history right now. It turns out they drafted Conor McDavid. Who can't win the big one.

[01:50:22]

That was the biggest mistake. That was the biggest mistake.

[01:50:25]

Which side you count on that you know what?

[01:50:27]

Draft the guy who can win the big one.

[01:50:29]

Connors listening. Just collect your checks, fill your bank account. Your cup will come.

[01:50:33]

Yeah, come. And if it doesn't, we were right. I mean, that's.

[01:50:38]

No, no. Even if he does win, then we say we were right.

[01:50:41]

Yeah.

[01:50:41]

Couldn't win the big one until he.

[01:50:42]

Won the big one.

[01:50:43]

And now he's a guy that can win the big.

[01:50:44]

Huh?

[01:50:45]

It's very.

[01:50:46]

Who's your guy? Who are your guys in hockey? I want to know who your guys are in hockey. I mean, not Conor McDavid. Who's your guy?

[01:50:52]

Well, I am a Conor McDavid fan. I'm a Blackhawks fan. So I'm a Conor Bernard fan. Who, guess what? Conor Bernard can't win the big one.

[01:50:59]

I'm a capitalist fan.

[01:51:01]

I'm being honest.

[01:51:01]

It turns out Alexander Vetchkin, he can win the big one. That's what I've always said about it. That's what everyone said about him.

[01:51:06]

Hold up. Well, let's talk about that for a second, right?

[01:51:09]

Like.

[01:51:10]

Like, okay, I don't think McDavid is in this. Like, are he and Ovechkin in the same boat in terms of they can't win the big. I like.

[01:51:18]

No, no, because Obi won the big one.

[01:51:20]

Got you all the way into a big one. Well, hold on.

[01:51:22]

We got you all the way into the big one.

[01:51:25]

I think Alex Ovechkin has played on much better teams throughout his career than Conor McDavid has. I will say that.

[01:51:31]

Yeah, he played, he played on a team that won the big one.

[01:51:33]

Listen, I, I love, like, my guys, Patrick and Jonathan Taze, they won a big one right away. I think. I think they won multiple big ones.

[01:51:40]

I think PK is about to fight us through this television screen.

[01:51:43]

Well, he just realized this weekend we really did. We got, we basically were like, want to go, buddy? And you're like, I'm not allowed to go. And then we got you to go.

[01:51:51]

The comparison to Patrick, comparing Conor McDavid to Patrick Mahomes and doing that, that was insane.

[01:51:56]

Right? Because Patrick Holmes can win the big one.

[01:51:58]

You're right. Balls in a bike. That's why you guys. Yeah.

[01:52:05]

All right, so who is going to win the big one this year? Who do you have?

[01:52:09]

Well, I had Vegas winning at all. I had Vegas winning at all. Same, I took a risk. I know I could have went with somebody out of the east and my pick probably would have lasted a little bit longer, but I went with Vegas because I just felt that, like, on paper, to have that many, like, players, that depth, like, I'm going to take a chance that they're going to figure it out. They just didn't, they just, they have nine guys who had to get off season surgery. They just weren't able to get their game going and get to 100%. So which happens, they'll be back. But now looking at it, dude, it's difficult to not pick the Dallas Stars. Like, how do you not pick? Like, what would be your reason for not picking Dallas? Like, when you look at their team and especially the way they're playing, from the coaching Pete DeBoer to the stars up front, they have scoring depth up front, they have veteran presence, they have sandpaper, they have youth, they have speed, they have defense. They got sandpaper paper on their back end that Lindell and Tan. You want to see those guys in the corner, good luck.

[01:53:09]

I don't. Jake Ottinger, if he plays out of his mind or plays 80% of what he's capable of, the Dallas Stars are going to be in every game and have a chance to win. So really it's going to be about how are the Dallas Stars, if they make it to the Stanley cup final, going to match up against any team coming out of the east. And that's the question you have to look for, you know, I don't know, man. It's hard to pick. It's. It would be easy to pick a Dallas, but I think the winner could be coming out of the east this year. That's what I think.

[01:53:40]

Okay. All right, so I have one last question for you, PK, this has been awesome. We'd love to have you back anytime. It's a roback question. Rhoback.com promo code take 20% off your first purchase. Qzips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts. Roback.com promo code take without giving anything away because it hasn't been released yet. How was your walk with Frank? Because Frank is our guy. He's a legend. I heard there's maybe some old tweets that were brought up because obviously Frank's diehard season ticket holder for the Devils. How to go from your perspective, though.

[01:54:11]

First of all, God bless Frank. He's the best. You know, for people that are fans of his, that listen to him, watch him, follow him on instagram, this guy in person is 100 times better than whatever you would think. He's just salt of the earth. Just a great guy, passionate guy about sports. I was a little bit disappointed with Frank when I first got there because he was so nice and so polite, and I'm like, frank, I didn't come on this walk for you to like. You know what I mean? Treat me nicely here. Like, keep it real. And then he kept it real. We got into some of the tweets, but it was a fantastic. It was a fantastic day. And I think it's great. I think it's awesome what he's doing. It is really do I love what he's doing? And I just hope that I get invited on another walk, but I think people will love it. We got into some hockey stuff. We talked devils a little bit. We spoke about the greatest goaltender of all time. You know, it's funny when you start throwing out sports stuff, though. When I start throwing questions this way, he now all of a sudden, Frank the tank comes out, and we had a lot of fun.

[01:55:15]

So look out for that one. It was a good one.

[01:55:16]

That's awesome.

[01:55:17]

Get him on skates next time on the ice.

[01:55:19]

Yeah, let's. Let's do that.

[01:55:21]

But, yeah, and we got to do this more, boys. Yeah, I got to get back on here. Let's go.

[01:55:25]

Yeah. Come, come out to Chicago. We'll show you. We'll show you what a real sport looks like. We got a full basketball court here. We got lacrosse.

[01:55:32]

Well, listen, if I come out to Chicago. It's been a while, too. We got to hit it. We got to step out on the night. On the town for a night, too. And maybe a couple barley sandwiches. I'm a tequila guy, so. Tequila. Yeah, we got. I'm not playing now.

[01:55:48]

Get you some more.

[01:55:49]

Yeah, yeah, let's do it. But yeah, this has been awesome. We'd love to have you back on. And you got us fired up about hockey. And. Thanks so much, PK. Appreciate it, man.

[01:55:57]

No problem. And cheers to Conor McDavid winning the big one.

[01:56:01]

There we go. We'll be. We'll have you on when he does. Which would be never.

[01:56:07]

Thanks, boys.

[01:56:09]

See you, PK. Thanks, man.

[01:56:13]

[01:56:47]

And now for something completely different.

[01:56:51]

Okay, we now welcome on one of our favorite guests in the entire world, one of our best friends. But it's under tough circumstances because the man in front of us right now, Jerry O'Connell, the legend, Jerry O'Connell. I don't think anyone has ever talked more shit before a game seven about the next series than Joc did today to Hank. So we had to have him on to maybe explain what's going through his head as his bing bong knicks get bounced from the playoffs in seven by the Pacers. Yeah, tough guys.

[01:57:28]

It was, you know, they fought hard, they made it to game seven. It's been an incredible season. So many injuries. It was a lot of fun.

[01:57:37]

Would I have loved for it to.

[01:57:38]

Be, you know, mister Bing bong versus Hank? I mean, yeah, I think everybody was rooting for that. I do got to thank all the awls. I have never had so much social media traction as I have had. I went to go, you know, I have a busy life I got kids. I'm here at my kids volleyball practice. I got things to do. I have responsibilities. And I was washing my car, and I was like, I got him before this game. Just give it to cocky Hank. And I couldn't believe how well it did, but, I mean, it was tough. It was a good run. You know, the Celtics, look, they would have never beaten the Celtics. It was just fun to get in Hank's face, you know? It's so funny.

[01:58:20]

I would have thought.

[01:58:22]

I would have thought getting. Oh, there's my first dumb. I would have thought getting under Max's skin was the most fun.

[01:58:30]

Yeah.

[01:58:31]

But really, I just.

[01:58:32]

I lived.

[01:58:34]

I live to get under Hank's skin. He's just such a complicated teenage girls. He's just such a complicated fucking guy. I just want to get on.

[01:58:45]

I want to get in there. There he is.

[01:58:47]

So you know what? Listen, I know it's the end of the Knicks season and that's it. But before I say goodbye to Mister Bing Bong for the year, is it.

[01:58:58]

Okay if just for a couple, just.

[01:59:00]

For a little bit, I bring Mister Bing Bong back?

[01:59:02]

Yeah.

[01:59:04]

Just. Frank. Yeah. Is it okay just for the end of the season?

[01:59:07]

I mean, now that it's all over and you gotta watch the paces versus the Celtics. Sleepy like Mister Hank in the morning. What's up, Mister Snooze?

[01:59:21]

There he is.

[01:59:23]

Wait, let me get into the character more. I'm an actor, so Austin sucks real fans. Ruins. Flopped it all. Toy boat, toy boats. Red leather, yellow leather. Here we go. And some. Hank, give me an action.

[01:59:44]

Action.

[01:59:46]

Bing bong. Hanky Bing bong. There he is. Mister stand up. Mister comedy. Bing Bong. I saw your stand up. You killed it. Just like your boy Aaron Hernandez. Pop out. Yeah, in a ditch. Dead in a ditch. Hey, uh. Hey, Mister Hanke. Mister sleepy time.

[02:00:12]

Are you there?

[02:00:13]

Here. I'm right there. Wide awake.

[02:00:15]

There you are.

[02:00:16]

There he is. Wide awake. Look at him. Hey, you got a golf simulator there at the bar stool. Headquarters at golf simulator?

[02:00:25]

Yeah.

[02:00:26]

You and you use it sometimes?

[02:00:28]

Yeah.

[02:00:29]

Maybe you should have used the Tiffany go mask simulator. Hey, Mister Hankey. I hear you trying to slam dunk a basketball bing bomb.

[02:00:51]

I am.

[02:00:51]

Is that. Yeah.

[02:00:53]

You got less hops than a can. Of course. Light bing bang bang with the little blue mountain. You know, it's blue so you don't have to touch it with your delicate fingers. You can see your fingers.

[02:01:07]

Yeah.

[02:01:08]

Bingies and tootsies. Tiffany Gomez, show us your tootsies. She covers them up with an emoji. You gotta pay extra. Bing mama Tiffany, the one that got away?

[02:01:21]

Yes.

[02:01:23]

She got away. You could have been hog hunting with.

[02:01:26]

Her from a helicopter, shooting those innocent hogs.

[02:01:34]

Show us your tootsie, Tiffany. Hey. Oh, hey. Uh, hey, mister Hankey. I heard your boy is regretting that he did the roast because of what it did to his family. Yeah, you wouldn't know what it's like that. Yeah, you wouldn't know what it's like to have a family because you blew your chance with Tiffany Komach.

[02:01:54]

You could have had a family.

[02:01:55]

Bunch of little hog hunters, little wild boars. Just from a chop by impressive Bing bongs. Missing animal didn't do nothing. You know what I'm picking on. Maybe Mister Bing Bong's picking on hanky a little too much.

[02:02:11]

Oh, yeah, you guys didn't even beat the pacers. You know, this would have been fun. It would have been a fun series.

[02:02:17]

Oh, there he is. Cocky. There he is. Let's see, he's leaning back, he's looking cocky. Yeah, it's true. The Knicks stunk up MSG today.

[02:02:30]

That happened.

[02:02:31]

They stunk it up. Just like Jakey is stinking up that control room all the time with this fox ring mochi. You eating legumes? Look at you. I mean, I look at that threesome in there, you think you know Max. He's the one who's shitting himself, not you. Jt, what's going on with your ass?

[02:02:52]

You gotta fix that bing bong.

[02:02:55]

Oh, mister Bing Bong. Yeah.

[02:03:03]

We'Ll have to bring a. I really.

[02:03:05]

I miss him already. Yeah, the Knicks. You guys are never gonna see the Knicks blow it in Dallas. Just like hanky blew it. You blew it. Show us your tipsies, Tiffany.

[02:03:19]

Bing bow, I got it. I got a question. Was, were the arm weights when you were walking your dog, you were. You were lifting, like old geriatric, like, 80 year old woman arm weights. Was that a mister Bing bong's arm weights or was that Jerry O'Connell's arm weights?

[02:03:36]

No, I don't do prop work. Those were, those were my weights, I'll have you know.

[02:03:41]

Wait, hold on a second.

[02:03:42]

Serve it up, Charlie. Serve it up. It's my daughter serving with a ball here. They're actually leg weights, I'll have you know, they are not arm weights. They are leg weights that I put on my arms. And it's, uh, it's to keep it like.

[02:03:58]

Look at that. It's got those arms.

[02:04:01]

Hey, you know, I'm not done with you. Hanky, I'm not finished with you. Where is he? Where is Hanky? Hanky, are you there?

[02:04:08]

Right here.

[02:04:09]

Yeah, the Bruins. Sorry about them. They prematurely left the playoffs. Just like you.

[02:04:24]

Jerry. What does Mister Bing Bong have planned for for next year? You like this Knicks team? You want to make any additions? What could change?

[02:04:31]

You know, I should answer. I'm going to. I'm going to get out of character.

[02:04:35]

And get back to Jerry.

[02:04:37]

I still wish KD was here, man. It just would have. We needed that one player, you know, it's just crazy. So we'll see what happens in the offseason. It was a great season. It was injury ridden. It was, it was a bummer. But you know what? I think as you saw in the game today, everyone was really proud. I was really bummed that Jalen Brunson didn't get clapped off, didn't get like his proper applause. He had to go into the locker room. Hey, mister Bing Bong's back. Hold on a second. You know, Jalen Brunson's hand is more fractured than Hank and Tiffany's relationship.

[02:05:19]

Yeah.

[02:05:19]

The next paces that was knocked down, drag out fight. Just like Scotty Shepla this weekend. Shout out to first responders, Miss Maxi. First responders, give them the tickets.

[02:05:36]

Oh man. Have you had Jerry? Yeah. Have you had any moments? My last question. I'll do it right now. Roback question.

[02:05:43]

Rho bho bacon. Who cares how it spelled? It's a crazy spell.

[02:05:53]

Promo code. Take 20% off your first purchase. Was there ever a moment in the last couple of weeks where Mister Bing Bong kind of slipped out while you're with your family and your family looked at you like what the fuck are you doing right now, dude?

[02:06:07]

No, but no, I just, I gotta tell you, I. Mister Bing Bong has woken up something inside of me. I just. I'm a different man. I just find myself, like if someone tries to, like, like if you're merging onto traffic and like that second car tries to merge, I'm like, it's just, I gotta tell you, everybody needs a little bing bong.

[02:06:35]

Yeah.

[02:06:36]

In their lives. Everybody. And I just want to say, you know, I'm gonna put Mister Bing Bong to sleep. And Hank, maybe you should take another trip down to Dallas and show your friend who Mister Bingham is so you can rekindle your relationship and patch things up.

[02:06:55]

Let's see those toes.

[02:06:56]

Tiffany, I always think that Mister Bing Bong might play better as, as a loser. Like you're out, but you're still talking shit to somebody.

[02:07:06]

Yeah.

[02:07:07]

What do you want? I'm, like, cowering in a corner of a teenage girl's volleyball gym. I'm gonna lie to my whole family. I have to change into my nick's jersey every time I come onto your podcast. Go back into my. My my Apollo. I mean, what do you want? Yeah, mister Bing Bong is.

[02:07:28]

Well, Jerry, we love Mister Ping bong. Has been a great playoffs with you. Any last words for Hank or Max? No.

[02:07:36]

Good luck in the postseason, Hank. I mean, I guess we're all getting ready for tonight's game. I haven't even looked at the score. Have they started playing yet?

[02:07:44]

Yeah, it's halftime. What's the score? 5338 nuggets.

[02:07:50]

Yeah, so, I mean, yeah, look, I mean, I understand fan bases and all that stuff, but look, this is a football podcast. And, like, now, like, let's get the grit week. You know what I'm saying? Hear all of Hank's hot, hot celtic sticks. Oh, let's hear those hot celtics.

[02:08:18]

By the way, Jerry, we have not, we have not planned grit week yet, but there's. We've had some preliminary planning. There's maybe a chance that you'll be on the Rv with us for a little bit.

[02:08:30]

Maybe we'll be so much. That would be so much fun. And if you do come out to, like, Oxnard or whatever, to come see the cowboys or the Rams practice out.

[02:08:38]

Here in thousand oaks.

[02:08:39]

I know you guys are always looking for a place to watch hard knots. Come over to my house. Unless my wife was there, and it's 90 day fiance night. Then we have to watch 90 day. Sorry. But today it was really tough. We were watching hacks, which is a great show. It's a really wonderful show, streaming about a female comedian and a younger female comedian. And it's very funny. So I got. I got two quarters of the next game, but I was watching my wife, and it was a really good game. I highly suggest it if you're looking for something to watch with the family. It's, um, it's fun. A lot of fun. Strong females.

[02:09:21]

All right, Jerry, we have to love you.

[02:09:23]

We have to do hard knocks with you.

[02:09:24]

Yeah, we'll do hard knocks. Yeah. We'll build the whole trip around hard knocks with Jared.

[02:09:31]

All right, one last time. One last time. Hanky.

[02:09:34]

Yeah.

[02:09:35]

And you know what? I want to hear Hanky say it.

[02:09:37]

It feels so good to say it. Hanky say it.

[02:09:39]

Bing bong.

[02:09:44]

Hanky.

[02:09:45]

Feel the power. Okay, I gotta get out of here before, uh, my kids uh, disown me.

[02:09:58]

Jerry was brought to you by Chevy. As everyone knows, this is a Chevy truck podcast. The greatest trucks ever built. And our good friends at Chevy have been a big part of the part of my take story. They helped us dig the biggest hole ever dug in Ohio during grit week. The Silverado partners with us every year to give college fullbacks all the rightful recognition that they deserve with the low man award. And they have sponsored our non stop cross country trip to the Super bowl in LA behind the wheel of a Chevy Silverado. Silverado has been part of it all. Chevy silverado. Long time awesome partner of the show. It's a truck with commanding, unstoppable grit, legendary capability, and dependability, too. I love Chevy. I personally own a Chevy. I've driven a silverado. The silverado is the best truck in the world. You guys are gonna love it. It's almost tailgate season. If you're tailgating, you should be doing it in a Chevy Silverado. So find out for yourself. Like so many other awls, head to Chevy.com to check out all the Chevy truck grit and build your own Silverado for do it yourself projects to road trips, off road adventures, tailgates, whatever your thing is, it all starts with a Chevy truck.

[02:10:59]

Okay, let's finish up. We have a. I have a quick Monday reading for us. We should have talked about it. It came late, I believe, Thursday night or maybe Friday. You know what? I'll read it. And you guys tell me who wrote this, okay? Congratulations to Stephen Curry on winning his second PBW, a magic Johnson, up there. It is a magic Johnson award, honoring a player who displays cooperation and grace in dealing with the media and fans, both on and off the court. By the way, Steph Curry, I had fun hanging out with your mom last night at the Sparks home opener. Oh.

[02:11:40]

Magic.

[02:11:40]

Is that like a test to see how he handles the media?

[02:11:43]

Dude, he's so, like, sweet and sincere. How can you say that part? I had fun hanging out with your mom. That was like a Marlins man tweet.

[02:11:54]

Oh, my God. His mom still single?

[02:11:57]

I believe so.

[02:11:58]

Magic had a lot of fun hanging out with her.

[02:12:01]

By the way, Steph Curry, I had fun hanging out with your mom last night at Sparks home opener.

[02:12:06]

Is there any person, any public figure. I'm gonna be very delicate with how I say this, okay? Any public figure in America that you would less like to see that tweet from than magic Johnson about your mom?

[02:12:20]

Does Nicki smokes count as public?

[02:12:23]

I know public, not pubic.

[02:12:25]

Yeah.

[02:12:27]

Magic Johnson would be a tough one. That'd be a really tough one.

[02:12:32]

Tough one.

[02:12:32]

It'd be a tough one.

[02:12:33]

Hmm. Hmm. Yeah, I think that's.

[02:12:38]

I think that's it. I think it's gotta be magic.

[02:12:40]

I also had. I didn't even read this article, but we can just do a. Read a headline and just go off of it. The New York Post posted something called the Gouda, bad and ugly. NYC law student addicted to cheese. Went to nearly $6,000 per week rehab.

[02:12:57]

Yeah, that's good. That's good. Going to cheese rehab.

[02:13:00]

Cheese rehab.

[02:13:01]

Yeah. What is it? What is cheese rehab?

[02:13:03]

I don't know.

[02:13:04]

Treadmill.

[02:13:05]

Max, have you gotten your cheese, by the way?

[02:13:07]

I've not.

[02:13:08]

Okay.

[02:13:08]

Oh, Max, speaking of cheese.

[02:13:11]

Oh, yeah.

[02:13:11]

Something in here.

[02:13:12]

Grader.

[02:13:13]

The grater or the. The slicer is a bad. Yeah, this bad boy is industrial strength cheese and meat slicer.

[02:13:21]

Is it that is actually in here?

[02:13:23]

Yeah, it's this right there. Giant box right here.

[02:13:25]

Come open it. We open it.

[02:13:26]

Yeah, open it up.

[02:13:27]

By the way, I do omax my ping pong ball. I. Terrible shooting by me. We're done with that. No longer gonna give up.

[02:13:35]

This is last week.

[02:13:35]

Yeah, this is the last week.

[02:13:37]

I have a story. I'm not sure if I should share it on the podcast.

[02:13:39]

Okay, I guess give it a try.

[02:13:41]

Give it. We'll take it for a spin. You guys ever sleepwalk?

[02:13:45]

Yeah, all the time.

[02:13:47]

Hank ever sleepwalking? It's a weird since talk. Yeah. You do sleep talk. You sleep a lot.

[02:13:53]

Yeah.

[02:13:53]

If Hanks walked into sleep, he'd be in great shape.

[02:13:56]

You sleep right now?

[02:13:57]

No.

[02:13:57]

Okay.

[02:13:58]

All right, so. So Friday night, imagine if he was like, yeah, actually, Friday night, I stayed in a hotel.

[02:14:04]

Okay.

[02:14:05]

I'm. I'm in DC, right? And I go to bed at about, I think, 12:31 a.m. couple cocktails. I had a couple cocktails. Nothing big, nothing too serious. But I. I wake up, and I find myself in the hallway of my hotel.

[02:14:23]

Yep.

[02:14:24]

In my underwear and nothing but my underwear. And then I have to figure out where I am, what I'm doing there.

[02:14:32]

Yep.

[02:14:32]

I go to my door. I obviously don't have my key on me to get back in, so I have to walk down to the lobby. I'm on the first floor. I walk. I poke my head around the corner, and I asked the people in the lobby, hey, I locked myself out of my room. They're like, no problem. They get the. Whatever. Custodian or. Mainstodian.

[02:14:55]

Yeah, yeah.

[02:14:57]

They just make you a new key.

[02:14:58]

Yeah. What are you talking about?

[02:15:00]

No, he's a. He has a master key. Okay, so he.

[02:15:02]

But they could have just given you another key.

[02:15:04]

Well, I just.

[02:15:05]

Staying in like a. I did in breakfast with old school keys.

[02:15:08]

No, it was like a master, like the. The. That he held up, opened every door.

[02:15:13]

The custodian key. Yeah.

[02:15:14]

The master electronic.

[02:15:15]

Yeah.

[02:15:16]

So he takes me back and I. The reason I didn't go to the front desk was because I'm in my underwear. I didn't want to, like, be down at the front desk of my underwear. So the guy walks me back, lets me into my hotel room. I thank him. I apologize. I go back to sleep. 2 hours later, I wake up, and I'm in the hallway again.

[02:15:36]

Oh, no.

[02:15:37]

In my underwear.

[02:15:38]

You gotta lock yourself in.

[02:15:39]

And I'm locked. I'm locked out of my hotel room for the second time in about 3 hours.

[02:15:43]

Yeah.

[02:15:44]

And I'm like, what the hell is going on right now? I have to do the exact same thing and walk down and be like, hey, I did it again. They get the janitor. Excuse me, custodian. And he walks me back and he's like, so a second time, what's going on? I was like, I honestly, I have no idea. And then I got back in, and when I went back in the second time, latched the door.

[02:16:05]

That's.

[02:16:05]

Did the deadbolt.

[02:16:06]

Yes.

[02:16:06]

That whole thing. Both times I think I was trying to find the bathroom because I had to go pee.

[02:16:10]

Ah.

[02:16:11]

And I just went out.

[02:16:12]

That makes sense.

[02:16:13]

Front door of my hotel.

[02:16:14]

Have you slept walk before?

[02:16:16]

Yeah, but it's been years.

[02:16:17]

Yeah. So I sleepwalk usually when I'm very overtired. I've done that once. I lock the door every time I go to a hotel room for that exact reason.

[02:16:25]

I'm gonna start doing that.

[02:16:26]

Yeah, it's gotten better. It used to be like, I would end up like, you know, like, in different parts of my house. Now it's more just like, I get up and I, like, kind of walk around and, like, just mumble.

[02:16:39]

Yeah.

[02:16:39]

Wife's like, what are you doing? She said that I, like, we'll, like, talk about, like, especially during football season when we don't sleep. Like, I'll be talking about games and stuff, but. Yeah, it's a weird feeling.

[02:16:49]

It might be from lack of sleep. I didn't. I didn't sleep a lot on Wednesday. Always night?

[02:16:53]

Yeah, always. When I. When I. When I don't sleep, I talk a lot. And then every now I. I walk probably, like, once every couple months.

[02:17:01]

Yeah. The first time I woke up in the hallway, I was standing at my door, looking at my door. And as you're fading back into consciousness.

[02:17:08]

Yeah.

[02:17:08]

I'm trying to figure out what to do. I start knocking on my own hotel. Please let me in. Me.

[02:17:14]

The. It's good. Good that you. You sound very similar to what I do in that. Like, I've never put myself in real harm's way, because I know that that's a real thing.

[02:17:23]

Yeah.

[02:17:23]

Some people will, like, be walking in, like, the street and shit.

[02:17:27]

Yeah.

[02:17:28]

And I never really get past, like, the first or second door. Yeah.

[02:17:32]

I was in the hallway, and immediately that's when I was like, wait, this isn't right.

[02:17:35]

That's fucking wild. This is 210.

[02:17:37]

I did twice.

[02:17:38]

Yeah. That's crazy.

[02:17:39]

The second time I in there, I was just, like, so freaked out. The second time that he let me back in, I'm like, lock all this shit up.

[02:17:45]

Yeah.

[02:17:45]

Don't let me do this again. Me?

[02:17:46]

Yeah. I sometimes will put, like, stuff in front of my. If I know that I'm really overtired, like, especially on the road, I'll put stuff like booby trap my own door.

[02:17:54]

Yeah. So, like, I'm gonna do that.

[02:17:56]

Yeah. Cuz, you know, like, oh, if I kick this bag, it will be like, what the fuck?

[02:17:59]

Yep.

[02:18:01]

That's crazy, though. Two times.

[02:18:02]

Two times.

[02:18:03]

Shout the custodian.

[02:18:04]

Because custodian. Janitor, maintenance guy.

[02:18:06]

I like custodian. We got to bring that word.

[02:18:08]

Awesome guy. Max, the cheese slicer, manhandled by this.

[02:18:13]

Yeah. What is going on here?

[02:18:17]

Don't break it now.

[02:18:17]

You're just gonna try to be a man about it, and it's gonna go poorly.

[02:18:21]

Max, you're gonna have to start slicing all our cheese now, though. I'm gonna start bringing blocks of cheese.

[02:18:27]

Pathetic.

[02:18:28]

I like. I like it really, really thin. Max, don't worry about it. It was a spur of the moment purchase is for the moment purchase that I instantly regretted.

[02:18:39]

Oh, great shit. Yeah, right here in the. The middle. We're gonna. We're gonna have you on Wednesday's show. You're gonna have to cut some cheese for us.

[02:18:47]

Yeah, and if Mister Pear doesn't turn his shit around, we got a guillotine.

[02:18:53]

This is awesome. Max, you gotta clean this, dude. Oh, this is great.

[02:18:58]

Yeah, dude, you can slice anything you want on that.

[02:19:03]

What about a bet? Someone slice their fingers?

[02:19:07]

That's what you should use for your pinky bet.

[02:19:12]

All right, Max, you're set to go, big boy. Kind of a fat move to have your own cheese slicer. What a fat ass.

[02:19:25]

Yeah, this fat ass has this cheese slice that we forced him to have.

[02:19:29]

We should just start buying Max. Like a moomoo. A life alert like Max. Damn, dude.

[02:19:37]

There's a military grade sleep apnea.

[02:19:39]

Max, you have no shame. All right, let's do numbers. I owe Max. Mine out. Mine will be 28. 356 is max.

[02:19:51]

46.

[02:19:53]

99. Pug 21 means you want to say anything about me blocking the shit out of you on Friday, okay. Blind squirrel finds a nut. Oh, yeah. And then you got upset, pushed me. 78. 78. 78. Whoa.

[02:20:19]

Love you guys.

[02:20:19]

What? What was that? Was that. Were you pointing at Max? He hit the tv. God damn it. Hey, go back to sleep. Bing bong. Oh, wait. Shout out uh, fuck. Do another. Love you guys. Shout out shit. Jerry. We finished taping with Jerry, and we were watching the Nuggets wolves game, eating dinner, and he's like, hey, can I come back on? I was like, no, Jerry. He's like, I forgot one thing. I was like, just tell me, Jerry, and I'll say it. Shout out Ryan. Shout out Ryan.

[02:20:51]

Love you guys.

[02:20:55]

I don't know what to say.

[02:20:58]

I say it anyway.

[02:21:00]

Today is another day to find you.

[02:21:03]

Shining away take me, take on me some little way say unto me it's a better to be safe say unto me it's a bit to be safe.

[02:21:55]

And sorry j.

[02:22:17]

Brings up the same just play my way you all think I've got to remember shining away shine away.

[02:23:40]

You might be surprised by the working family payment. For many working parents, covering the everyday costs of family life can be a stretch.

[02:23:49]

But there's some good news.

[02:23:51]

The working family payment is money the government pays to working parents, depending on their level of income and how many children they have. To find out if you qualify, visit Gov Ie WFP, a government of Ireland initiative brought to you by the Department of Social Protection.
