Stamkos is a big story. My sense is that there have been conversations since the season ended. That's a departure in itself from the way the Lightning chose to handle this entire situation, putting off contract talks, entirely shelving them throughout the season. Since that time, I think there's some dialog there on trying to find a way to make this work. I think you still have two willing parties in terms of the team wanting to keep Steven Stamkos, and Stamkos obviously hoping to remain a member of the Lightning. But it's not as simple as that. We've seen Tampa lose a number of players due to the free agent squeeze, and they've since traded for Ryan McDonough again, which is another 6.75 million added to their cap sheet. A very good player, but it seems to me that they're going to have to make another move, other moves, maybe not even just for Stamkos. Just as part of the due course of building out the team.
