Hello, and welcome back to the Drewer and Stewer podcast. I'm Drew Livingstone. That's Kam Stewer. This is week one, Cam. It's been six months in the making. We did our division previews. We had some offseason hockey content. We did a bunch of stuff, but nothing hits better than just spread pics, right?

I love it, We got the gold, silver, and bronze back. It's fun just to go through this stuff. We'll see how bad we do this year, but I have a feeling we're going to do well. I don't know, man. A lot of these lines, too. You got to get them early.

Week one is tough.

Oh, dude. Week one, I'm looking at this stuff going, I don't know. I could go either way on these games. There's only a couple that I really, really like, but we'll figure it out. Week one's tough. And then my favorite week is usually week two, the overreaction week. Just like in college football, you're like, Oh, Hawaii couldn't beat Delaware State. Then they almost beat UCLA as two touch down dogs. Very similar to the NFL. Things are going to happen in week one. Go, Wow, that team's really crappy, whatever. It's just an opening game. Sometimes they keep it vanilla. And that's a very important thing, Drew, that I've gone through. Teams that will play vanilla just when They're way better when they play a tougher opponent next week, they're not going to show them anything. So it's a very important betting strategy.

Well, not to mention, coaches have had six months to prep for this opponent. So obviously, their defense might be a lot better this week than it is next week when they only have seven days. So agreed. It's going to be a lot different next week. But whatever, Cam, we're going to get into it. We're going to give our picks for every game. If anyone's new to this show, picks for every game on the spread. We'll talk a little totals. If we tie, we have a mystery tiebreaker man who most people who love this show know who he is. We have him in the wings giving his voice. Giving his pics. Or maybe it's a she. We don't know.

I don't know. He's a bagman. He's a mystery. Yes.

Then at the end of that, we're going to give our gold, silver, and bronze, our three best spread pics of the week. And then we're going to give in, because it's the first episode of the season, we're going to give our Super Bowl who we think is making the Super Bowl from each conference and who we think will ultimately win it. Ken, we both had one team correct in the Super Bowl last year, but neither of us got the winner, which is sad. We should just pick Chiefs again. I mean, this year, maybe we just do Chiefs, Chiefs.

I got to be honest with you, Drew. I have 49er fans, even though I'm a Seahaw fan, and it's just disappointing. Think of the way they lost that game when Greenway got hurt, just like dancing, like a move on the sidelines. They were containing them. That's their best defensive player.

Chiefs' only TD long drive of the game was an overtime.

Let's give the Chiefs credit. They're an awesome team, but they also seem to find a way all the time. I was more impressed with them. They're winning Baltimore, getting to the Super Bowl. That was all Chiefs. That was great. No, you don't even know. They shut down Baltimore. They had a game plan, and the Ravens, like they do every time. They seemed to choke in the playoffs. But a lot of teams choked. The Niners, look at their last Super Bowl run, Drew. Loss, loss, loss. Two to Kansas City, right? And another one. Was it two to...

Who was the other one? Chanahan just can't win in the big game, Cam. It's just what happens. All right, let's get into it. A A rematch of that AFC Championship game in week one, Thursday night football. The Chiefs last year, Kam, lost to the Lions on Thursday night, and you called it. I didn't. I remember week one last year, you were on the Lions. I was not. Do they lose their second straight banner raising game, Cam? I Mahomes is four and one all time against Baltimore. Is this going to be four and two? What do you think?

I don't know. All I know is it depends where you get the line, I guess. And people are like, oh, half a point, sometimes a point, it matters. Two and a half to three is a big, big deal. Also, we'll talk about buying and teasers and things like that because sometimes it's not as stupid as people think.

I'm not afraid to buy a half point.

No, I'm not. No, Drew, I'm telling you. And we talk about this on all our shows. All these new guys or the computer people are like, oh, you're such an idiot doing this. You know how many times buying a half a point or a point has won me a game instead of losing a game. Trust me, do whatever. That's our message on the show. Do what you do. You could listen to people, take in the advice. But some of these computer guys are also playing with $500 a game, $1,000 a game units and stuff like that. Me and you like to play the a little bit more. But in this game, I'm taking Baltimore. I'll get the three of Baltimore. Yes, it's not a fate of KC. Kc is going to be awesome. But injuries with Hollywood Brown and other things in the first game, I think it's going to take a lot for them to get their motor running. Baltimore, on the other hand, revenge special. I'm getting three. This is, to me, way more bigger for Baltimore, even though they're on the road. They have to find a way to beat Kansas City.

I will take the points with the Ravens, but betting against Kansas City is usually a recipe for disaster. But they didn't cover big spreads. This is a very low spread.

Yes, Cam. I love the Chiefs this week. I think they get revenge on... Well, not revenge, but I think they repeat what they did in the Aves Championship game. Baltimore lost three starting offensive linemen, Cam. They lost defenders. They lost their DC to your Seattle Seahawks. Cam, they're in shambles. Lamar doesn't really have anyone to throw to anymore. I know he still got flowers and Andrews, and he's likely supposed to be their new go-to guy. I don't trust Bateman.

Losing Sneed is a big deal for Kansas City. For sure. He was usually in the second half.

For sure, but I don't think Balthour is a team to take advantage of that. Okay. Fair enough. No. I think they're more of a ground and pound team, which I think most people agree with me. I think Chiefs win this game in a walk, Cam. In a walk? Well, not like 24-13.

Say it, Drew. Say it L-word. Say, Kansas City is a lock.

No, I won't say it.

So I could help my Baltimore pick.

That's bad luck. But the Chiefs may be in my minerals at the end of the show, Cam. We'll see. But I do love them minus three, Cam. I'm thinking like 24, 13 KC. They don't lose another banner raising. I think that's a one-time thing we witnessed last year with the lions who are much better than Baltimore, in my opinion. And Mahomes has got new toys to play with. I think we see that on Thursday night.

Yeah, it's going to be a great game. Great way to start off the season, and I'll take the points.

Guaranteed, Kansas City. Yeah. His real favorite team, remember?

Yeah. He's not really a fan of the team we know he's a fan of.

Yeah. You're a way better fan. You've been through... I don't know about this guy. He's a real... Sounds like a real bandwagon jumper, Drew.

All right, Cam. We are starting off the season on opposite sides.

Well, it wouldn't be any... This is the way we do it.

It's true. When we do agree, though, usually we're right. So let's see. Moving on. The Brazilian Rumble where they can't wear green or they might get shot.

Don't wear your Don't bring money. Don't take a cell phone down the street. Dude, imagine being an- Did you see the-Yeah, sorry.

He asked, Vontade Smith, Hey, what do you think about going to Brazil? He's like, No comment. And then A. J. Brown is like, I'm just staying in my hotel. Yeah, no, you don't walk the streets. Why would you be?

You're a target. I'm going to tell you one thing. You think it was bad for Colorado getting their jewelry stolen by the UCLA crew? What's going to happen in Brazil? You're a target, not just to get stolen, get hurt. I wouldn't leave my hotel. If I need anything, I'll tell somebody to get it for me. By the way, I think this is bullshit. I hate this by the NFL, and they just brush it off. This is not fair for the Philadelphia Eagles. Even Parker fan will tell you that. This is a home game. Yeah, this is a home game in Brazil. That's not right. And I'm sick and tired. Jacksonville in England, that's a trend now. But this is bullshit. It should never happen like this. This is wrong. The NFL is a tough enough league to win games. That's my take, Drew. I think you agree. It is nonsense, and it's not right.

So we got the Eagles camp minus two and a half. Home favorites. It's pretty much a neutral site game. If it was the end of the championship game, this could be the spread is what they're saying. Cam, Jordan Love impressed last year, 32 passing touch downs. The Eagles defense last year, absolutely brutal. 30th in scoring defense, 26th in overall defense, 31st in past defense. They added first and second-round picks to their secondary. They re-signed CJG.

They got Dauxon.

Yeah, Maddox, they got to. Yeah, Cam, do you think the Eagles have done enough to fix their defense, or are you like the packers here?

I like the Eagles in this game. And I think the packers are going to be a very interesting team to watch. Are they going to regress because that division is very tough? Just sucks that McCarthy went down for Minnesota because I thought we would have seen him, but maybe Darnold will surprise. But anyway, we're talking about the Eagles. They still need a little bit of help, but I think Jalen Hertz last season, there was a real disconnect there. Drew, we talked about it on the show. We've never seen a team pack it in and quit like they did against the Buckeyeers.

We both agree, Siriani is an idiot.

I think the fact that people love Siriani to me is nuts. But I will say this, Jalen Hertz is healthy. The weapons that they have. I think the Eagles's offense is going to be really good. And Green Bay, they're going to be a good team. But I just think Philadelphia, I think they got things straightened out. I think they were a team that tapped out. I think there was a lot of issues last year, and I think they've corrected them. Give me the Eagles by four in a very close game in Brazil, just covering the two and a half.

My thing is, Cam, I agree. I'm on the Eagles as well. I like the minus two and a half here. Both these teams to me, I don't agree with what we saw last year. I don't agree with the packers being as good as what we saw. I don't think the Eagles were as bad as what we saw at the end of the season. So I think, what is it? Rock and hard place. I think that's what happens here. I think the Eagles can win this game by three. It's close spread. It's a tight spread. So I just like taking the team. I think it's going to win. I think Philly wins this game. I think they got better weapons on both sides of the football. Agree. Green Bay has got a better secondary, but I I don't think that matters with the Eagles's weapons. So give me Philly minus two and a half. We're in agreement, Cam.

I like that. So Bagman's not in play this game, but let's go Eagles. Fly, Eagles, fly.

Speaking of JJ McCarthy, who you mentioned, Sam Darnold starting a quarterback, going to New York to take on the football Giants. The Giants are one point home dogs. Cam, Daniel Jones is back. This isn't Italian DeVito at quarterback against Sam Darnold. Probably the worst quarterback match of the week. Do you agree, Jones versus Darnold?

Yeah, I would have I do agree with that. I can't think of a very worse one. No, I can't think. Well, you could say Gino Smith versus Bo Nix, I guess, if you want, because he's a rookie.

And two LSU studs and neighbors and JJ, Jeff and Jefferson, Aaron Jones against Devon Singletaire. It's a tight game, Cam. I agree with the spread. The spread is right on the money to me. Give me the home Giants underdogs, Cam. Everyone's on the Vikings in this one. It looks like 56 % of the public. I like Brian Dable coming out with this much time to prep for the Vikings defense to show I'll give off Daniel Jones a little bit. Daniel Jones is okay, Cam, against bad teams, and I think the Vikings are a bad football team. So give me the Giants to win this one outright.

One thing I think Daniel Jones needs to keep his job is to just stop doing dumb things, give him a little bit of protection and let him run. You're like a gazelle. You're one of the faster guys in the league. Trust me, Daniel Jones in the open field is like a horse. You've seen him go like... I see guys chasing him down. I'm like, Jones is gone. He's fast, fast. And people don't give him credit for that. So Jones, play to your strength. I'm with you, Drew. I think this is one of the toughest This game's on the board. Like a game show, I wish we can go pass because I think it's going to be... If you're a pro-line player, this game's got tie written all over it within three. But I will take the dog in the Giants. We're getting one. I think they probably win this game by one to three. So I will take the G-men with you.

In agreement. And the G-Men came have a revamped defense camp. Their defensive line is going to be trouble. And Sam Donalds, not one to not turn the football over. He throws a lot of pics. So does Jones. But Donalds easily be turning over when he's forcing at the end of the game when they're down six points. They had tons of injuries.

Thibodeau was Banged up. Other guys were banged up. High draft, pics were banged up. So you know what? I think the Giants get off on the right foot, too. Everyone's down on this team, but I'll take the G-men. A very tough game.

All right. In agreement, once again. The good times are rolling. I don't know if we'll be in agreement on this one. I really like one side, but we'll see. The Miami Dolphins hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Battle of Florida. Ken, first off, which city would you rather live in, Miami or Jacksonville?

Jacksonville for me, because Miami, even though it's really hot, I burn in the sun. Better party life in Miami, but I can get it done in Jacksonville.

It's When you're an old bear now, you just want to relax on the beach.

Yeah, like Jacksonville. Miami is a little bit too... I still go out there and give her, Drew. Just not the way I did when I was younger. But Jacksonville, to me, it's more north. Jacksonville is more my speed. Miami is a little bit too slick for me. I can see as an older guy, the threat of robbery and or being mugged or killed in Miami is way higher than Jacksonville.

So I'll take Jacksonville from a safety perspective. I think Jacksonville is probably a spot where more snowbirds go as well compared to Miami. I Miami is too big of a youthful party town. I agree with you. I live in Jacksonville. Better team, too, to cheer for. But I'm a Dibil's fan, so that's a good price. The Dolphins minus three, Kim. Two of 15 and two straight up all time at home. Does it continue that trend, or the Jags come in and upset them? I'll take the Jags.

Give me the three points with Jacksonville. The cat theme is back. We're ready to rock. I'm going to tell you, I think Jacksonville is really putting it together. They were my pick last year and everything was going good. I was getting the old Barry Horowitz from you, Drew, Trevor Lawrence, a. K. A. Steffy Graff, got hurt in that whole season.

And then they just kept playing them. I was like, We're going to keep playing them hurt.

Don't let them rest. You know what? You better learn your lesson from that. When this guy's banged up, just put the backup in. You got to get this guy. He's got to be 100 %. They got the weapons, Drew. I'm down with Jacksonville. I think it's too many points. As for Miami, a lot of people are high on them this year. I'm not. I think the Jets and Bills are better. I think they finish third in the division. I will take the Jacksonville Jaguars plus three.

You don't like Coach vaping, Mike McDaniel?

Whatever that guy. Smartest guy in the room, McDaniel. Anyway, whatever.

Yeah, he does. Cam, I really like the Dolphins in the spot. I think they're a better offense. I know Jacksonville has all the weapons and whatever. I don't care. The speed in Miami is just unbelievable. I don't know what the Waddle injury is. I hate the mystery surrounding this guy. No one knows what's hurt. No one knows if it's soft tissue or a bone bruise or something, but he's been hurt for four weeks. He already dealt with ham string issues last year where he missed a bunch of games, or it'd be like he plays for two plays, he sits out 10 plays, he plays for three plays. I hate that nonsense, but I think Miami is a different beast at home. I think they're track and field, they're going to run up and down the field. I think they can win this one by seven to 10, and it's only three. So give me the Miami Dolphins to win this one by more than three. Where do you think mystery timebreaker man is on this one? Dolphins. Jacksonville Jaguars, Cam. Usually you're pretty hot with the time. Here's the one-on-one. We'll see where it goes for one.

Not a good start. 50 %? No, it's not. All right. Carolina at New Orleans take on the Saints. The Saints minus four at home. 73 % of the public is on the Saints, and we have a rule on the show, and we see 70 % or more on one side. The alarm bells go ding, ding, ding, ding, ding But let's see if that trend continues. Cam, are you taking the cats and the Panthers on the road?

This is my Super Bowl. I have so many bets on Carolina five and five and a half over. If they can find a way to beat the Saints, this is a great start to my year. I want them to win outright. I'm not backing down. I made a bet with New Orleans to be one of the worst teams in the league and the worst team in the league at 28 to one. I'll put my money where my mouth is. I know guys, you think I'm crazy, but I think Carolina- You believe in Canales then? I do believe in Canales. Look what he did for Baker Mayfield in Tampa Bay last year. A whole different ball game. I'll tell you one thing, in a battle of brains, Dennis Allen is the worst coach in the National Football League. Me and you went out. I just watched this guy, how bad New Orleans is. I don't even think Carr is going to get through week six or seven. We're going to see Rattler in there.

Their schedule is tough after this one.

Cam, I really think the Saints win this one. They've won five straight open.

As long as you don't win by more than four, if they win by more than four, I got it. That's what I'm thinking.

It could be close, because it's a division game. All right, you convinced me. I'm going to go on Carolina plus four with you, but I think the Saints win this game. So Saints fans, don't come for me. Yeah, don't come for us. I think you guys win that field goal. You come for me. I think it'll be 17, 14. Saints final. Carolina covers the spread.

Dude, get off that train. One of the problem is vanilla offense. They never take shots. But anyway, George is really good. But let's continue.

Yeah, anyways. Stealers at Falcons. Kirek Cousins coming off the Achilles injury. It looks like he's going to play. I know everyone's saying it might be Pennex, but I don't think so. Russell Wilson and the Stealers going in there, Kam. You start. I don't know. Arthur Smith, revenge game. He's going to be running the Stealers' offense. Their defense is one of the best. I'm going Stealers, Kam. Kirk Cousins is not going to be able to move very well in the pocket. Coming off that injury, he's going to be slow to start. I think he's going to integrate slowly into this offense. New head coach in Atlanta, and Dan Quinn... Or not Dan Quinn. Dan Quinn was the Atlanta head coach. I want to call him Raheem Morris. Kam, yeah, I think this is trouble for Atlanta in week one. I think the Stealers go in there and maybe hold them to 7 to 10 points. This could be a 16-10 Stealers win. So give me the Steelers on the road outright. I like them here.

I'm going to take the points as well. I'm not sure if they're going to win outright, but asking Atlanta to win by more than a field goal, I don't really think it's a tough situation. Here's the thing, Atlanta, too, the darlings of everyone who's betting this. I've seen this movie so many times, and you know what? People love Atlanta. Oh, we're in an easy division. We all know that. But this is not an easy game to play Tomlin and the Steelers coming out of the gate and everyone high expectations. I think the Steelers can win out right, too, but I'll take the three.

And people are shitting on Russell Wilson for his season he had last year. It wasn't that bad. I think he was a lot better than me.

And I hate to say it, Payton was He was horrible to him. He treated him like that guy.

What do you want from that guy? He was advertising him left and right.

Russell Wilson, actually, I'm going to defend him. I don't like the way he was talked to. He was bullied by his coach. They didn't want him, and he still went out there and delivered. Remember games that he came back against and stuff? Let's give him credit. He grinded. I'd like to see fields in a lot of packages, too, because that guy could be lethal. He's just got to protect the ball. The Steelers are a really interesting team to me. Their defense is always good, but if their offense shows up, they're going to be very, very hard out. So I'm going to take the Steelers plus three.

Yeah, I think both these teams are very similar. Offensively, obviously, Atlanta has more weapons, but I think the Steelers defense counteracts that because the Steelers defense is very, very good. And I think Russell Wilson can just... If you just don't turn the ball over in this game, I think they win this game. So, yeah, we're both in on the Pitzerick Stealers. All these I'm talking about Falcon fans and Falcons back. I'm like, What are you guys talking about? Falcons winning the Super Bowl, blah, blah, blah.

This is a problem with football. We're not bad guys. We're just making our picks. Don't come at us or whatever. We are- I just think they're going to- And we have no problem with Atlanta. I got no problems with Atlanta. I have them winning the division. The division is a weak division. I just say this is a tough spot. You don't want to play Pittsburgh week one. It's a very difficult matchup. And if Atlanta wins in covers, good for them. It's going to be a very good game. I think it's going to be close. So I take the dog when I'm getting- I think Atlanta is going to start the year slowly, but then come week, everyone's like, wow, this offense is awesome.

But I don't think they come out of the gate like that. It usually doesn't happen.

We agree.

Exactly. All right, moving on. Cincinnati hosting the New England Patriots. Cam, we both agreed New England to be the worst team football. I have their win total under two and a half all-line, which I think is crazy, but that was whenever. I was like, I'm going to sprinkle on this just because. Jacobi Brisset starting a corner back over Jake May, which I agree with. A lot of people were like, Why are you starting Jacobi Brisset?

Because you don't start a rookie into the fire like this.

You don't want to lose his confidence against Cincinnati in Cincinnati week one. Eight and a half point favorites, Cam. This is going to be everyone's survivor pick. Maybe ours later in the show, we'll find out.

Can you start? I'm having a real hard problem with this.

I like the bangles in this one. Only, I don't think they score that many points because New England's got a sneaky good defense, but they just traded away their two best defenders, actually. They lost Callahan, which I think will hurt the offense. Chase is probably not playing, but I just think they have enough. I think since I need to score what? 24 to cover this number? 21, maybe? New England can't score more than 14, I don't think, in this game, maybe even 10. So I think because since he only needs to get to probably 24 to cover this, I'm going to take the bangles at home.

I'm going to take the bangles, too, but this pick might change on Thursday. Too many people are going to be on one side of this game. I don't know who's betting New England. I'm with you. I think they'll probably win four games this year, four, five tops. But hey, Jaron Mayo is going to have these guys ready to go. One thing is they're not going to quit. They're just not talented. Give me Cincinnati.

Yeah. I don't like who Who's their best playmaker in offense? Paul?

Yeah, I guess.

Yeah, that's exactly it.

I don't see how they can score. What's their max points do you think they can get in this game? 17? Like max, ceiling.

Yes. 16 to 17. Yeah, 16, 17.

Yeah. So I just can't bet on a team that the max output is 17 points. All right, Cam. The Buffalo Bill is hosting the Arizona Cardinals, their new look offense with Kyler Murray, Marvin Harrison, James Connor is back. The Bills are four and one in their last five home openers, winning by an average of 19 points. The only loss was to those Pittsrick Stealers when they were ten-point dogs. We said, Stealers week one, they went into Buffalo and absolutely stomped them. Cam, do you trust the Bills to win by their average and cover this number, or do you think Arizona is going to be sneaky good and keep it close?

I think Arizona is going to cover a lot of spreads. I don't know what's going to happen week one. I don't know how long it's going to take for these guys to gel, but you know what? It's a big year for Buffalo. This game is very tough, Drew. I wanted you to go first on it. I always wanted to go first? I can. Yeah, I'm right down the middle. I lean Buffalo.

I like Arizona here, Cam. I think the Bills have lost too many key defenders in their secondary. And I think with Milano being hurt, that's a huge blow. Kyler Murray is going to be able to run the football. I don't trust Von Miller going to be Von Miller anymore. I know people are like, oh, he's back. I'll believe when I see it. I know Sean McDermott is a great defensive coordinator, a great defensive mind. He's the head coach. I just don't know. It's like we got a new DC calling plays, all the injuries. I think Cardinals keep it close. I don't know what the Bills' offense is going to look like. I could see this being like a 27, 24 Bills win. I think the Bills still win, but I think it could be right in this number. So I can't take the six points at home.

It's a tough game. And Arizona is going to be one of those teams. You look at the roster, wow, man, they got some- Their defense isn't great.

Which is why the Bills could pour 35.

How does this total 48? That's what I want to know. If you look at the total, you got to jump on it now.

I think the Bills- Unless it's supposed to be bad weather. I haven't looked at the weather report. If it's going to be raining, then maybe. Bad weather.

Isn't it still... We're not in winter yet.

We're not in the- No, but I'm saying if it's pouring rain or something.

Rain. Wind is the problem, not rain. I don't care about rain. I care about strong winds. But anyway, 48 seems too low. I'll take Arizona with you, Drew, but this is a game that's definitely on the fence. I was leaning Buffalo. You could I had to convince me with Arizona. I'm thinking about Buffalo's D. It could be a real problem, but this could change on Thursday. But give me Arizona plus six as for now.

And one of my favorite props this week, everyone will see is going to be Trey McBride. The Bills don't really have a cover, linebacker to cover him with.

There you go. I think he's going to have a good week this week, but we'll see. All right, moving on. I can't believe we both pick against the bills. The Indianapolis Colts hosting the division-winning Houston Texans. Kim, Anthony Richardson and the Colts beat the Texans last year. He had two Russian touch zones in that game before he left with a concussion. Can they win again as a home dollar? Can they at least cover the spread? Or are you on the Houston train where no one can stop the Texans, Cam?

No, I'm on the Horseshoe. Give me Indianapolis plus two and a half in this game. I think Steke in will have a game plan. This Houston team, everyone's darling. I get it, but I don't know, man. Give Richardson easy throws right out of the gate, like dump offs, little pitman like screen. Because everything else screams Cleveland, which is why I'm leaning Cleveland here. But tell me what you think.
