What happens now is we have a Steve Dangle podcast tomorrow. Always a hell of an autopsy, always a hell of a postmortem. Man, they were close. Look, you can't keep only getting this far. The problem is you look at the leaves and you're like, Well, don't you like this? Don't you like this? Don't you like this? There's lots of things to like about the leaves. There are. And they're built around a core four of forwards in Mitch Marner, John Tavares, Austin Matthews, and William Neylander. Put them in whatever order you want. Matthews and Neylander are getting raises next year, dude. And Neylander was great, and Matthews was great. Marner didn't really rack up the points, but I thought he was good. And Tavares, I don't know about $11 million good, but he was good. Derek saying, Love you, Steve. From a B's fan. Thank you. You're the best. Oh, God. They're built around a core four of highly paid forwards, and they cannot score when it matters the most.

You're just playing Whac-a-mole.

You keep getting these good performances from these guys, but the other guys are quiet. You get good performances from these guys, and other guys go quiet.

The mix doesn't work.

The combo doesn't work. They They have to make a change to the core, and I think they will. Sheldon Keef's extension kicks in next year, which is hilarious, and I think he's going to get fired. And okay, well, then 2020 comes and you take a huge step backwards, but then the world ends, and then you're one of only two teams that have home ice, and then you blow it against the Blue Jack.

It's all right. And then you have this season where it's the Canadian division. It's the only time that's ever happened. And you win the thing, and you have a 3-1 series lead over the Montreal Canadiens, and you blow that to 2022, if only the Leaps don't have this penalty called against them, which Justin Hall. And then finally, finally, finally, they win a series last year against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Hooray. We did it. War is over. And they go to the second round, and they promptly get their bottom smanked by the Florida Panthers.

You have to win 16 games to win the Stanley Cup.

You know that leaf?

That big wooden leaf thing that they put all the pucks in? You have to win 16 games. You have to gather.

You have to take 16 of those pucks to call yourselves champions.

And this year, the Leifs tied their second-highest win total of the Brandon Chanahan era with three.
