Terrified and panicked, festivalgoers are crushed against the barriers due to a crowd surge at the Boardmasters Festival in Newkey. Fans had gathered at the Point Stage on Friday evening to watch Tom O'Dell's performance when the crowds began to swell. Many quickly found themselves squashed and unable to move.

There was one boy that was really badly hurt. He was shaking, he was laying flat, and we tried to help him. As I looked around, there were a couple of dozen kids there. Obviously, this wasn't a place where there was first aid. There were a few medics, but not many. There were kids that were looking after kids. Obviously, as mothers, we were like, Are you all right? They were crying. There was a little redhead kid crying, holding her. You could see there was blood, and I don't know if it was bone. It looked like bone coming out of his leg. There was another girl that had a twisted ankle.

In a statement, the organizers of the festival said, Following a crowd collapse at the point last night, seven attendees were transferred to hospital nearby for precautionary examination after presenting to our medical team. They have been treated for minor injuries and have all since been discharged. The point stage was reopened the following day. Last night, there were reports that the set of The Headline Act featuring Sam Fender had to be stopped several times because of crowd problems. Organizers said the set was paused by the musician as fans needed medical aid for minor issues, which they received before the show resumed. What was meant to be a fun weekend of music turned into a nightmare for some. Nick Karashi, Sky News.
