[00:00:38]

Hey, man, what's up with your fucking voice? Don't start that shit. I don't like your energy.

[00:00:42]

What can I do about it? I can't fix my voice right now. You think I want to have a dumb shit voice like this?

[00:00:47]

How did your voice get like that? Let me ask that first.

[00:00:50]

I was Whooping it up at the Philly's game in Colorado. What were you doing in Colorado? Nola's Gondolas. We were at a bachelor party. We had a fan section. You had a bachelor party? Yeah, bro.

[00:01:00]

Interesting. I shed light on this real quick. So your voice, you have no voice, but when you went to Denver, you had voice, correct?

[00:01:08]

I left my voice in Denver, is basically what happened. Okay, cool.

[00:01:11]

All right, cool. And this was what What concert was this?

[00:01:16]

We went to a comedy show. Then we went to a Subtronic concert, which is dubstep. Okay.

[00:01:21]

You know dubstep? Okay, cool. Comedy show. No, I'm just taking it slow. Comedy, laugh, hee-hee-haha vibes, correct?

[00:01:29]

Hee-haha, no screaming.

[00:01:31]

Okay, cool. Yeah, so really chill. But then the rage started to come out a little bit. You guys went where? A trisonic?

[00:01:40]

Subtronic.

[00:01:40]

It was- Subtronic.

[00:01:42]

There we go. Subtronic. It's a dubstep music at Red Rocks.

[00:01:46]

Is that a little fast-paced?

[00:01:49]

It's like,. A lot of that. No, not that.

[00:02:00]

You said no. You said no. I didn't say anything. What did you do? What did you do?

[00:02:07]

Nothing.

[00:02:08]

No candy?

[00:02:10]

Nothing. What do you mean?

[00:02:13]

Oh, my. I knew it. I knew it. White masterminds. You all get wild. Say it last. Listen, man, I know you got family and everything watching.

[00:02:20]

There's nothing in there.

[00:02:22]

Listen to your voice. It sounds like the aftermath of it.

[00:02:28]

I know, but we weren't even We weren't screaming for that. We were at Red Rocks. We were having a good time. We were laughing. And then we went to the Philly's game the next day.

[00:02:41]

So you didn't know. They did that so he wouldn't lose his voice. So you needed to add that with yours because they were doing heavy.

[00:02:49]

Oh, really?

[00:02:51]

Yeah.

[00:02:52]

Dude, I don't do that stuff.

[00:02:54]

I don't know what you're talking about.

[00:02:56]

I don't know what you're talking about. I don't know what you're talking about.

[00:02:57]

I don't know. You said you went to a Triconic rave party and the music was double paced, you said, and you guys were doing this and punching air and all that shit. It had to be some type of help. It was added on something that helped you guys do that because I talk to you every day, literally. We have 80 plus episodes. We talk all the time, and not one time was your voice ever harsh, strong, gone, limited or whatever. But let's just get past that, because I don't want to put yourself in a position where you can't get out of.

[00:03:28]

I was just having I was having New Amsterdam Mules. I was having a good time.

[00:03:32]

Okay, all right. Okay, cool. Because we've been drinking New Amsterdam all year and nothing's wrong with your voice. Again, that's why I'm just trying to figure out.

[00:03:38]

It came from the Philly's game.

[00:03:39]

They drug test, Barstool drug test.

[00:03:43]

Yeah, and if you're not on drugs, you can't get in.

[00:03:45]

Got it. Okay, here we go. Here we go. Next section. Here we go. Let's go. Keep it moving. Where were you at? This past weekend. Viva Las Vegas. I was in Vegas.

[00:03:57]

What are you doing out there?

[00:03:59]

I was on a little vacation. Me and my wife, we was out there. We was chilling. Took some time away. Went to Vegas a little bit. I learned how to play a new game.

[00:04:13]

What's that?

[00:04:14]

Baccarat.

[00:04:16]

Baccarat? How do you play? What's the vibe? Is it a rich man's game?

[00:04:20]

I don't know. Closest to nine. I met two guys, one guy from China, one A guy from Beijing, Haoyung.

[00:04:32]

Haoyung?

[00:04:33]

Haoyung. It means good luck.

[00:04:35]

I thought you were saying that he was under 25 or something.

[00:04:38]

No, no, no. I mean, I want a ton of money first day.

[00:04:46]

Oh, so you're a lot of young.

[00:04:49]

Right, right, right, right. A ton of money. A ton of money. And I'm like, this is my first time really playing it. I'm like, I like this game. I don't want to play anything else, babe. I don't I don't want to play Black Jack. I don't want to play roulette. I don't want to shoot dice. I want to play Baccarat only.

[00:05:07]

Second day.

[00:05:10]

So I'm finished saying about the first day, me and my fellow Beijing homie, Chinese guy, Chinese homie. Am I allowed to say Chinese? That's cool. I don't want to step on no toes.

[00:05:26]

Definitely. It's a country. What do you mean?

[00:05:27]

Are you allowed to say Chinese? I'm not trying to step on no No toes, man. He's been terrified to get it canceled. For real, man. They already tried to do me in. But here we go. How young. Good luck. Okay, red, blue, red, blue, red, red, red. And I'm like, I don't know. How do you know? How do you know? How do you keep picking right? I just looked at it like, Shit, players ain't went over five. Bank only went over two. On, off, on, off, on. Really a couple of ties. Player looked like he went in all the time. So I'm just slow ground to stay with player. It's going to go bong, Bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, bung, all right? But I was just saying it.

[00:06:34]

Wait, are you allowed to say, bong, bong, bong, bong, bong, bong?

[00:06:38]

I don't know, but that's how I was phrasing. I'm like, it's going bang, bang, bong, bong, bang, bang, bong, bong, bong, right? Like that, right? So he followed the method. We follow method together. We win a ton of money. He goes up to me afterwards, Bung, bung, bung, bung, yeah. Bung, bung, bung, bung, my boy, yeah. So shout out Bill. That's my guy, man. My Guys, man. How young. How young. [00:07:55]

[00:08:01]

Okay. Last time I saw you in Vegas, you were like, you walked up three flights of stairs while you were still in your room. Right.

[00:08:07]

Chill, chill, chill. Second day.

[00:08:10]

How young?

[00:08:13]

No young.

[00:08:15]

Oh, really? That's how it works. That's how they get you.

[00:08:19]

While I'm gambling, I'm calling two people while I'm gambling. I'm calling one of my homies, Negro every birthday, and then Then I'm calling Mom's, right? [00:09:03]

[00:09:06]

You back? I'm back. I'm back. I'm back. Not too long though, because we got to have breakfast, man. Not too long. I'm sitting in breakfast with Staleface. Why? If he's looking How much you lose? Baby, I lost everything. My damn. But you got to think every time I win, I win a lot, boom, I shoot her something. I win again at one table, boom, I shoot her something. So I'm putting it up as I'm winning it.

[00:09:49]

Right.

[00:09:50]

So you said, I need that bag. Baby, I might need you to go in that stash. I need stash, right? But you know what? I'm like, we will go the stash. I open Dressr. I see money. [00:10:27]

I thought the story was about to have a happy ending and you found the extra money.

[00:10:31]

No, the whole day two, I'm just sitting there, bitch, like, damn. I'm the type, I'm only taking a certain amount out to Vegas. If I lose that, I'm done. I'm not going to the bank or anything like that. I'm not going to ATMs or anything like that. I don't play that shit.

[00:10:49]

It's like they said in that song, you got to know when to hold them, know when to fold them, know when to walk away, and know when to run.

[00:10:53]

Right.

[00:10:57]

You knew when to walk away? Did you walk away?

[00:10:59]

[00:11:14]

[00:11:15]

Get Stash. I bet this is what we're going to do. We're going to go to Black Jack. We're going to take it slow. Then we're going to go to Baccarat. We're all right, cool. We go to Black Jack. Winner. You know what I'm saying? Some bread. All right, cool. Baccarat. I go to Baccarat. Let me do this, baby. Go crazy. I'm back up. Back up. I don't want to hear shit. Yeah, Vegas don't owe me nothing. So you made it out of there with the staff. Leaving.

[00:11:58]

Why if you don't put me on a Do a little airline, I could take a little JSX, a little private, but not private, but cool.

[00:12:06]

The semi-private.

[00:12:07]

Yeah. Yeah, right. The middle motherfucker save a ton of money. Hey, I like this. I'm going back to Cali anyway, so it's a smooth vibe. Cool. Get there. 4:15, fight. Hey, hey, hey. Check in. Oh, you guys are on the flight. On the flight? What do you mean? When you're on the flight, you guys are on the 3:45 flight, not the 4:15.

[00:12:26]

No.

[00:12:27]

Oh, damn. Four hours until the next flight. Back to the hotel I go. I swear it was like it was the movie Casino. It was like they all was like, Welcome back. ' 'Yeah, come in. ' 'Yeah, put your bags right here. ' I'm telling you, it was like the movie Casino, man. It was like the movie Casino. The people were waiting outside for me. They had the doors already open. It was like they said something was wrong with the flight or something. I turn around, I go What's up? You're Mr. Bung Bung, Bung, Bung, Bung, Bung back. What's going on? You come back. You come, you all come back, man. Let's go in here. Let's have a good motherfucking time, baby. Let's go. Lose everything. No. Listen, the only thing I didn't lose was my pride. I got back on a fight with $100 just to offer respect.

[00:13:23]

You kept one?

[00:13:24]

I kept one. You ain't going to take everything. That's one thing I'm going to do. You could do anything. You ain't going to just take everything. I'm going to go home with dignity.

[00:13:32]

Just a single I'm going to go home with a little motherfucking dignity.

[00:13:36]

So, yeah, Vegas is great. Vegas is great. Oh, man. It was cool. It was cool.

[00:13:40]

Yeah, there was casinos.

[00:13:41]

Then the whole time, they go, every birthday, and my Duke's, I'm having fun. Yeah, they can't hold me. I'm slippery. They're going to have me on the news in the morning. I'm going to hit Vegas for everything. I'm talking about crazy type of shit. You see, I ain't really putting the number on it. Wild type of shit. Yeah, Black Negro birthday. Yeah, they can't fuck with me. They can't. Yeah, dinero, dinero, dinero. C, C, C, C, C. Let's go. I'm having my way. Having my way. So shout out Vegas, man. For real. You come with a light, you're going to leave it a little bit.

[00:14:18]

Yeah. They probably hated to see you walk away from that table. They're probably like, Oh, he got us. We'll never see him again. Then you walk back in. That shit was like Casino, bro.

[00:14:26]

They literally grabbed my bags before my feet even It hit the ground. It was like they knew.

[00:14:33]

They probably wanted you to miss that flight. They were probably like, No, your flight's 4:15, not 3:45. You'll be good.

[00:14:39]

It's cool.

[00:14:40]

And then you have to go back in.

[00:14:42]

That's love, though. Kept behind it, though. Kept behind it.

[00:14:44]

What What did you do with it?

[00:14:45]

I gave wifey 300. I kept 100. You came on this trip, 300 up now, baby. You don't have to worry about a thing.

[00:14:53]

Did she gamble?

[00:14:55]

No, she gabbled. And listen, in the beginning, we I'm gambling, but it's like, Hey, baby, stop touching my chips. You throwing me off. You feel me? She, No, don't bet that much. Baby, you throwing me off. As soon as she touched chips, it go opposite. So now we're down there arguing, fighting at the motherfucking gambling table down. I told you not to touch it. Then we're playing buy garage. I go pay her, she go bank. People at the table are looking like, Oh, you guys down on the same page. No, I guess we ain't on the same page today. But no, Vegas is great, man. There you go with the legs again. Lift the motherfuckers out. Let me see. No, no. But pull that motherfucker down. Pull it down. Pull that black part. Put it up. Pull the black part up. To the knee. See, look, that's what I mean. Their pants shouldn't just easily go above your knees. It should be something stopping them. Muscle. It should be a muscle stopping it.

[00:15:58]

Bro, we don't all wear skims like you, bro. We're not all in fucking Spanks like you, bro. You better chill out with those tight-ass.

[00:16:04]

Okay. So now you can count my chains when I walk, huh? If I part, I got to squeeze it down at the bottom type of shit, huh? That's what you mean.

[00:16:13]

Okay, Okay, say last.

[00:16:17]

Go ahead, get them out. Get them out. Get your ones on. But look, all jokes aside, let's go basketball.

[00:16:24]

Congratulations to the Celtics.

[00:16:26]

Congratulations to the Boston motherfucking Celtics. The most dominant team this season, the most dominant team in the playoffs, hands down. You can't even say anything, even if you tried to say anything. Oh, Jason Tatum is struggling. Nope, can't say that. Oh, Jalen Brown. Can't say that. Oh, Drew holiday is limited in his role. Can't say that. Oh, how's Derrick White going to... Can't say that. Porzina is this. Can't say that. Al Horford is... Oh, can't say that. The coach is too young. Can't say that. They have no bench. Which can't say that. The most dominant team in the regular season, the most dominant team in the play-off, it's not even close. And they're fun to watch, too. You got to get flowers. Summer time is when you plant your flowers to harvest. Flowers come up, they blossom. You got to get flowers out. The motherfuckers is blooming right now. Shout out to the Boston Celtics, man.

[00:17:19]

It's the same way that I feel about LeBron. Whenever people are like, I don't like watching LeBron, then I'm like, well, if you like watching basketball, then you have to like watching LeBron. And it's the same thing with the Celtics. It's like they are They're playing such a pure and clean style of basketball that if you like watching basketball, regardless of the color of their jersey, you have to really be able to enjoy what the Boston Celtics are doing.

[00:17:40]

For sure. And it's great. It's fun to watch. And they're getting it done. They're beating teams. Okay, cool. Being a close came, we beat you. We're down, we beat you. We're beating you on the road. We're beating you at home. That's the first couple of games Indiana lost at home. And shout out to the Pacers, too, People don't even think they get to Eastern Conference final. Shout out to the Pacer, shout out to Rick Carly. They played well. He had those guys ready from getting in. So I mean, playoff has been lit, but goes back to my ones. All of a sudden, you're getting your ones off. We go see what happens tonight. Pa comes out tomorrow. But if Austin and Dallas meet up in Championship, talk about some ones. What What your ones look like, Bobby Brown. Shout out to my boy Bobby Brown. What your ones look like. This probably would be the most isolation Championship game we've been seeing in a long time. It might be all ones. I mean, that's the type of game. You can't be in a coverage. If you be in a coverage with Luka, he's going to pick you apart.

[00:18:48]

If you be in a coverage with Kyrie, he's going to pick you apart. Boston, I mean, if I was coaching, I want to take away all the lob threats. You know what I'm I want to take the- Live League effort. Live leads and gaffer. I want to take them out the game. So I want to take all pick and roll. I want to take that out. I don't think you take that out. If you switch, so if they switch, you got to get in your bag or once. And vice versa. If Boston has a ball, you don't really want certain people on Jalen Brown because he might post them. So you got to switch and you got to wands. What's your wands look like? Championship game. I mean, it might be... Gains might be low scoring, But you might see some good ass fucking Wands, boy. I'm talking about top-bottom wands all around. I'm talking about in the post, Mitch Mac Wands, Al Hofer, mismatched Wands, P. J. Washington, mismatched Wands, Gaffer Wands, Luka, obviously Wands, Kyrie, obviously Wands. Then they're going against the Drew Holidays and the Derek Whites. Solid great defenders. You know what I'm saying?

[00:19:55]

Then you got to, oh, flip side. Okay, cool. Porzinius might play Wands. Jason Tate on the other end, Wands. He going to want to break down Kyrie. He going to want to break down Luka. Wons. Jalen Brown, he most isolated motherfucker in the NBA, so he live on Wons. Payton Pritchard, Wons. You know what I'm saying? So Them young guys off Dallas bench, the only thing they know is ones. So it's going to be a good one. It's going to be a good one.

[00:20:21]

Who's going to guard Luka, and will Dallas be able to keep up defensively?

[00:20:26]

I don't know. I think it's about offense. I mean, Every game is about defense, right? But if you're switching everything, you got to get some good shots up, and you don't want your offense to drain your defense. I'm not playing well on offense. We're not getting the great shots. I just take the energy out of my defense, right? That's what you see with Minnesota right now, right? They doubling and getting the ball out of his hands. They're going at Mike Connolly a ton. And that's allowing their offense is affecting their defense instead of it being the other way around.

[00:21:08]

I'm assuming that Drew is going to be on Kyrie, primarily.

[00:21:12]

I don't know how they're going to play. I don't know. They might put Derrick White on them. I don't know how they might play. You never know. I promise you. You never know.

[00:21:20]

In this Minnesota series, we've seen Luka as a post defender sometimes. Do you think that we'll see more of that?

[00:21:28]

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's going to be ones everywhere. So you got to do a little bit of everything. You got to guard the wings, you got to guard the top, you got to guard the post, you got to catching the drive, you got to big and rebound. And this is going to be a one series, straight up. You're talking about shot makers and shot takers. I mean, most of those guys we named, shit on these two teams.

[00:21:54]

But do you think that the Celtics are a little bit more equipped for that style of gameplay than the Mavericks?

[00:22:00]

It's tough because you will see Boston play, right? When you play, oh, man, the most dominant, they beat shit out of everybody, right? And then the adjustments that J-K makes. The next thing you know, Luka has 30 and Kyrie has 30. They're winning right at the end and big shot, big shot. So this is going to be a hell of a series. I don't even know who to pick yet. I'm going to be honest. I got to see the first game.

[00:22:24]

But to be honest, we might have a guest on the line right now.

[00:22:26]

Okay. What's up? I like guests. Who we got?

[00:22:30]

[00:24:51]

Hey, Ron, give him a little something before we start, Ron.

[00:24:53]

But I got a little intro for you. All right, here we go.

[00:24:56]

All right.

[00:24:57]

As the New York Point Guard, he was well suited. He moved more nicks around than Frank Lucas. He put his kid in the league when his court days were done. So he sunned NBA players in more ways than one. It's success for the whole family. He's weaving the best tapestry from the court to the booth, the legend, Greg Anthony. Welcome to the show, bro. I like that.

[00:25:25]

I like that.

[00:25:26]

I like that.

[00:25:26]

I like to catch that recorded and use that as my voicemail.

[00:25:29]

Yes, sir. We got you, man. We can record it. Thank you for being here. An absolute pleasure to have you. Obviously, there's so much to talk about from... I mean, we've seen a ton of nick stuff. We've seen a ton of Pacer stuff. But I would like to start off maybe touching on some of this this broadcasting drama that's bubbling within the NBA in that this TNT Studio show looks like it's going to be coming to a close. You're familiar with all those guys intimately. What do you think has gone on there? And what do you think the future will be for NBA broadcasting as you see it?

[00:26:06]

Well, listen, I think the game as a whole is in a great space. It's just unfortunate that it looks like TNT will no longer be a part, potentially, of the NBA fabric. When you think about where they have come from, you look at Charles Barkley. Without question, he's the most iconic broadcaster in sports. Nfl is the king in terms of viewership and whatnot, but there is no personality that carries more weight, has more impact, or entertains at a better level than Chuck does, combined with having Kenny, and then obviously Shaq, and then the great Hall of Fame, Ernie Johnson. I think those guys, for the most part, will find themselves still being a part of the NBA. From what I understand, Ernie is not leaving Turner or Warner Brothers Those Discovery, as they're now known, because that's home. He's been there his entire professional career. And at this stage of his life, I don't know that he wants to take on any new challenges. So we're just going to have to wait and see how this thing all plays out, man. I just think it's unfortunate that our organization didn't step to the forefront and get a deal done when we had that exclusive negotiating period.

[00:27:26]

And let's face it, man, it's a loss for the fans because I don't know if anybody watches the NBA, even the players who are entertained by what Ernie and Chuck and Kenny and Shaq have brought to the table. So I just hope that those guys will find a way to still be a part of the NBA as you've seen. And I know you guys follow it. I mean, there's just nothing more entertaining than what they brought to the table. And the reality is it would be real fucked up if those guys aren't in some capacity still involved with the game and the lead because they meant so much to the game as broadcasters, obviously as players as well. But they're having equally as much of an impact on our game from the positions that they hold currently.

[00:28:17]

Yeah. And to add to that, to absolutely add to that, this is when you, for years, this is when you see you can't take things for granted. As fans, we sit on there and we try to critique, Oh, why is Chuck saying this? And then you get used to it and all the old heads like to hate on the young guys. And then you make a little debate about it. And you're really talking about Them not being part of basketball. We literally took them for granted for all these years until now. Now everyone's panicking like, Oh, we don't want to lose. We could have been taking care of all these years to come. So they've literally changed the game. The amount of fun that they have. And I've been on one of their segments, a couple of their segments. It's free. It's free to be able to come to work and to speak freely and to have a network that has your back, that's all you can ask for. So I'm with you. I'm with you, G. I hope everything play out because you all as much as to the game of basketball as the players as anyone else is.

[00:29:28]

It's important.

[00:29:31]

No, I definitely agree with that, man. Listen, there's a lot of uncertainty right now because you don't know how it's going to all play out. You got Amazon coming on board, which we knew we were going to get one of the streaming services to be a part of the NBA. And we knew also a lot of us in the industry knew MBC was going to make a strong push to get back into the NBA, and they did. I mean, they came real strong with it. There's still an outside chance that you could see Warner Brothers' discovery, and I'll call it Turner Sports because that's how most fans know it. They'll still have a chance, but they won't have the potential to have the same platform that they had in the past because they're not going to be... They wouldn't be in a position to do the Eastern Conference or Western Conference finals. I don't think they're going to get the All-Star game anymore. So you hate to see it. And listen, it That affects all of us. Nba TV potentially goes away. You don't know how that ultimately is going to play out. You're going to still have an element of NBA TV, but it won't be necessarily the way we've grown accustomed to seeing it.

[00:30:46]

And that's a network that's really for diehard. That's not a casual fan network. That's where people who are just basketball junkies typically go because it's a different format.

[00:30:57]

And that show shit, too. That show That show shit, too. That show shit, too.

[00:31:01]

I do a lot of the games on time.

[00:31:02]

I turn on NBA TV, I'm like, Let me listen to G. I know he's saying some real shit up there. So let me listen to G, for real. That's your lane.

[00:31:10]

Well, we try to. And Pat, I tell fans this All the time. Players never mind you criticizing what they do on the court because you're the first to know when you fucked up as a player. You know. So when it's pointed out, that's a non-issue. What I try to tell people, it's just more a matter when you attack someone personally, that a player will have an issue with it. And so that was always my belief. It's never about attacking somebody. It's about attacking something they do in terms of how you play, whether it be positively or negatively. And then if you step out of bounds in terms of away from the court that can directly impact what's going on on the court, then that's stuff we have to address as well. But we're a fraternity, man. There aren't a whole lot of guys that can say they had an extended career in the NBA. So it's a small fraternity. We all know and appreciate how hard it is to get to this level and to sustain it. And then when you get there, you want to be a part of winning. And so that's an even smaller group of guys that have been a part of really good teams for an extended period of their career.

[00:32:21]

So there's an appreciation, a mutual respect that we, even as broadcasters, have because we've been in those shoes, man. We know. We know the disappointment when it don't go the way you want. And we understand how wonderful it is when you do have that success. So it works both ways. And the players nowadays, man, you guys are so much more in tune with your value your best players and also your platform and the fact that you now have the ability to control your narrative. I think it's a great thing. It's healthy for our league. And it's not about just saying what everybody wants to hear. You got to talk about what what you believe, what you know. And that's not necessarily going to be a consensus that everybody agrees with, but it's just an opinion. And we're never always right. Hell, nobody ever is. You go back, you pick any of the series we just went through, a lot of people would have gotten them wrong. Who would have ever thought you'd see Dallas on the verge of sweeping to get to the NBA Finals, the Celtics sweeping to get to the NBA Finals, whether you thought they we get there or not, nobody saw those things playing out.

[00:33:33]

But that's why we play the games. And now it's a little bit easier to have a feel because we've seen now how these teams will perform at the highest level under duress, facing adversity, because both teams have faced a little bit of it here in the postseason. And listen, the reality is, I think, obviously, Minnesota is still alive, but I don't foresee them winning four games. And so I'll go out on a limb and say, we're going to see the two best teams He's playing for the Championship this year.

[00:34:01]

Yeah, they're alive. They're alive, but they ask for the hospital.

[00:34:05]

Oh, yeah. Come on, man.

[00:34:06]

They on that. And I hate to say it. Man, I spent a year in Minnesota getting that program together. I hate to see it, but, boy, I did not see Dallas coming. I did not see this G. I did not see Dallas coming. I'll tell you that. But to piggyback from you, I think from a player's perspective, from a player's perspective, when I watch NBA TV, I can watch that because it's other players who's played the game. So they're not critiquing you. They're really just putting you on game. Oh, man, that person probably been in that situation more than me. Okay, man, coming off picking role. I just didn't like his energy. That's a quick shot. Like you said, you're not attacking players. You're really just putting guys on. The issue that players have is the guys who haven't played the game. And they get on TV and their platform is waiting way bigger and their voice is way louder and their following is way bigger than the guys who actually play. So people believe them more just off that. That's the problem players have with some of these guys out here. Speak the truth all you want, but don't attack my character because everyone's human.

[00:35:20]

Everyone's made some type of mistakes in their career. So don't use that against me to draw this narrative of a someone in the league. So, yeah, I like that point you made.

[00:35:33]

And then the last point I make to what you just said, and this is spot off, because just because you've done something wrong or done something bad doesn't make you a bad person. We all do make mistakes. There's nobody that's been around this game or in this game that doesn't make mistakes, that hasn't done things that they regret. That's life, man. That happens. And then ultimately, there's a consequence. I tell this to my young I said, listen, you are free to do whatever you want, but whatever choice you make, there'll be a consequence, whether it be positive or negative. You just got to be able to own up to it, accept responsibility. And guess what? As you know, as a teammate, when your teammate makes a mistake, you You've been on teams where a guy makes a poor decision down the stretch might cost you a game. He's still a part of your family. We still go on the water next day. That's just the reality of it. And to your At that point, yeah, there are going to be a lot of folks out there with a huge platform that are going to say some foul shit.

[00:36:35]

But ultimately, man, you can't take that stuff personally. And I say, I'm general, whoever. Because ultimately, the beauty of the game, you still get to control your own destiny. You're going to determine the outcome. You look at Boston like, I ain't never seen a team that's had as much success as they've had this season be maligned. It don't matter what they do, you're going to kill them for it, right? Because they don't win the way you want them to win. I mean, damn, what are they? 12 and 2 in the postseason? They got one of them. 12 and 2. They got one of them. And so they play to their strengths. Now, will that lead to a title? We're about to find out. And Jason Tatum, I don't think he gets enough credit because we've gotten too caught up in just stats, and we don't focus enough on impact. And it's like I use the analogy in football. If you play football and you're a running team compared Compared to a passing team, your stats ain't going to look as good. That don't mean you're less of a team because you play a different style.

[00:37:37]

Ultimately, the real stat is the W and the L, and they got more Ws than anybody else. And so they have gotten themselves to the finals. And I think ultimately, if it is Dallas, I think it's going to be a hell of a ride because you got everything you want. You got teams with superstar talent, you got great defensive teams, and you got two teams They really know who they are and why they win. And I think it's going to be a hell of a matchup when those two get on the court.

[00:38:06]

Well, you said that Jason Tatum impacts the games other than in ways that show up on the stat sheet. And obviously, he does put up really good stats, but can you just speak to some of the ways that he impacts it other than just the stat sheet? What are some of those intangibles that you're talking about?

[00:38:24]

Well, some of them are stats. One, he's a hell of a defender, man. I don't think we give him enough credit for how good he is defensively. He's a great rebounder. He's not a passer at the level of, say, a Luka or a Jokić, but he's a very good passer. Now, there are things about his game that you can critique. I think he takes too many tough shots. When you're a guy that's going to get 20, 25 shots a game, you should be trying to get as many bunnies as possible. But he's going to tend... And some of that is also the structure of who they are. So So there's not a lot of motion and movement within their offense. They rely on the fact that they typically... Look, they're the only team in the lead, if they have for Zengas, that have five guys on the floor that can shoot it pass it, and score it on their own. Most teams rely on guys to create advantages. Dallas is one. Dallas, they got two guys that can consistently create offense against great players. A great defense. Their other guys are complementary pieces that rely on those two guys to create for them.

[00:39:36]

Derek White can get 30 on a given night. Drew can get 30. Four Zingers can get 30. And obviously, Jalen and Jason can get 30. So they're unique in their regards. So it does make more sense for them to play the style they play. Their record tells you they should play the way they're playing. When you dominate the way they dominated all season long, it would be foolish to say, Oh, they should play a different way. Now, having said that, within what they do, and some of this is he's still a young player. We forget that. He's just turning 26. He's going to get better. He hasn't hit his prime yet. So he'll get better in other areas, but he's also a great leader. You listen to him. He's humble. He doesn't run away from the smoke. When he does things don't go well, he'll be the first to acknowledge it. And I think that plays a role in the intangible stuff that we talk about. But you look at the last... Look at this series. Look at his numbers for the series, and people will still criticize him. You really can't do much. What did he have the other night?

[00:40:42]

26, 13, 26, 13 He's great in name. And he also makes big plays, and he allows for Jalen Brown to have some of the impact he has because he draws so much attention to himself. If you watch how Jalen gets a lot of straight line drives. He gets a lot of one on one coverage because you got to load, you got to guard that three point line all the way around the half court, and you got to load to take them. And that creates a lot of one on one attacks. And what they've developed is wonderful chemistry and understanding why it works so well for them. It's really unique to have, in essence, two first option guys. But this is taking another way from Brown because Brown is a phenomenal talent. But Jason does... He checks all in all the boxes. He's 6'10, he's a great rebounder. He's a great scorer. He's a great defender, and he's a great leader. And ultimately, the better your team, a lot of times, the less you individually have to do when your whole team can play the way they play. Like I said, they're completely built differently than what we see with Dallas.

[00:41:49]

Luca and Kyrie can't have both of them play really poorly, and they win. They have to play well for Dallas to win. And you've seen it even in this series. I mean, they're up 3-0, but they've won three games by, I think, a combined, what, 13 points. So think about it. They're winning because their two best players have been the two best players in the series. Their team, defensively, is just as good as Minnesota since the trade. People look at Dallas's record. You really got to look at Dallas just since the trade deadline. You can't look at the first half of the season because they were a completely different team. They were relying on Dwight Powell and Baxi Kleba. Now, those guys, I mean, Kleba's hurt, but now they've been limited. They're power, not even in the rotation. And that shows you the metamorphoses they made as a team. They're just as good as defensively. That's the reason I picked them to win this series. And I said, Look, it ain't... Listen, So Pat L. Is a really, really good player. He's going to be a great player. But he's not yet at the level of Luka in terms of polish and experience.

[00:42:56]

Now, in two years, he could be on that same But right now, you could just see it in the game. He's got a lot of indecision. He hasn't developed his mid-range yet. And I tell this all, if you go look at the truly great players, you get in the postseason and Pat knows it, you're not just going to live at the rim. And they can guard that three-point line. When you play a team seven times, you get a cadence to how they play. The one thing you can't guard is a great player who's got a great mid-range. And that's where Luke and Kyrie separate from Anne Edwards and Karl Anthony town. Those Those guys can score against great defense consistently, efficiently. And if you look at Kat and Ant, they're not on that level yet. Now, you can kill them now and talk about what they are. They're still a young team. Nobody had them in the conference finals when the season started. No one had either these teams in the conference finals when the season started. So it's not a knock. Just like Indiana, in a week, when this thing is over and they've gotten through the emotion of the season, they're going to look back and say, Dan, we had a great season.

[00:44:02]

We had a great season. They think about what they have accomplished. They get this, they sweep Phoenix. Come on now. Nobody saw that. Nobody. You beat the defending champs in a seventh game on the road, down 20 in the second half. That's a hell of an accomplishment. So that's a lot of familiar.

[00:44:21]

Your coach go out, one leg. Your coach can't even coach.

[00:44:24]

Yeah. If I'm them, I'm not making holes. People now, They got to move. No, we just got to let our best players get better. It'd be one thing if Ant was 29 and Cat was 32. Okay, yeah, we might need to make some moves. But when your best players best basketball is in front of them and You already can get to a conference finals. Their formula is a lot like what I saw with Boston. Boston, remember, they've been getting here, knocking on the door for several years. They didn't go out and break up their best players. They went and found guys that complimented their best players and allowed their best players to grow. And I think that's what, if you're in Minnesota moving forward, that's what you got to do. And that's what Dallas did. Dallas didn't go out and try to get other superstars. They said, No, we got to go get guys that are going to be comfortable in the role they got to play to help us with. That's why Lively, now his growth and Gaffer- Derek Jones and P.

[00:45:25]

J.

[00:45:26]

Washington. Man, we were on the air the other night, me and Grand Hill, and And I said, It's funny. You go, Gaffer and P. J. Washington's numbers are the same. They just playing on a better team. And so what they do now matters. It matters when you're playing with them two dudes. And so that's what Nico has done, and that's what Jason has understood as a coach. And that's why they're on the precipice right now getting to the finals. And I think they got a great chance to win it all.

[00:45:57]

We had a segment about this a couple of weeks ago, the three superstars versus the two superstars were great role players. I've been on teams where it's been three guys. I've been on teams where it's been two guys. I told everybody, the two guy, you got two superstars that helps the role players understand that role more. When you get three guys, you just need time with it. You need a two-year, three-year window with three guys because it's tough to just jump off the edge and do it in one. But that two guys, the two guards, the Luca, the Kyrie, it puts the wing in place. Okay, I got to play defense. I got to rebound. I got to defend. Okay, bigs. I'm sitting, holding screens, and I'm rolling. Everybody else should be ready to shoot. It puts everyone in a row faster than a three superstar. I wanted to know your take on that.

[00:46:51]

So this is what I would say. I don't disagree with you, but I would say that. So the third guy, and you know the perfect team that uses Phoenix. So one thing you learn in sports early on, and Pat, you go back to middle school with this, is you never ask a guy to do things he's not comfortable doing. So anytime that third superstar has now got to go play a different game, everybody got to adjust. I'm not saying make an adjustment, but take Bradley Bill. You're going to take a guy that's average 30 some points a game in his lead and play it at a really high level. And now you're going to They say, look, we just need you to spot up in the corner. Now you got to go through because when you move down the pecking order, I tell people, when you're the first option, your role different than the second option. And then when you go to the third option, the third option guy, you got to be really good at other stuff. You got to do other shit really well. Let's say even with Minnesota, one reason why they're really good is because Jay McDaniels, he really comfortable being the primary defender against the best team.

[00:48:00]

He don't need the ball to be effective. Bradley Bill is a first option guy that you now send, Man, we need you to be the third option. So the reason it didn't work there, and it worked in, say, Miami with Chris Bosh, because Chris Bosh is going to rebound. Chris Bosh could play defense in space. He could do what a third option guy could do at a high level. So I like the two superstars, but those two guys also got to be truly, truly great. And you've seen it. Think about Kyrie and Luka. Luka averaged over 30 a game in this series. He's hit 30 in every game, I think. Kyrie has hit 30 in two of the three, and the one he did, he had 13 in the fourth. Okay, so that means those guys, no matter how great you are defensively, you can't... I tell people all the time, no great defender stop a truly great offensive player. There ain't never been anybody that could stop Michael Jordan or Kobe or LeBron, one on one. That ain't happening. It never happened. Ain't nobody ever shut down Luka. Luka got the second highest scoring average in the history of the postseason.

[00:49:15]

Remember when he played the Clippers a few years ago, when they had the two best wing defenders in the game? Yeah, I was on that team. You was there, right?

[00:49:25]

Listen, I was on that team. You was there, right? Yeah, he cooked, he cooked, cooked, cooked, cooked, cooked.

[00:49:31]

What? Nothing they could do.

[00:49:32]

Nothing we can do.

[00:49:34]

Nothing. Zero. And they knew they couldn't do nothing with it. And so all he needed to do was get some help. Now he got some help. Man, we was on the road.

[00:49:45]

I was seeing other NBA players, and they was like, ain't nothing you could do with that motherfucker, Pat. No. I know. Nothing. If you're a good on-ball defender, he will take you to the post. If you're not a good on-ball defender, he will bring your ass out. Like, If he puts you in pick and roll, he will make every play the right play. He's 6'8, elite passer.

[00:50:06]

Dude, he's 6'8, and he strong as a bull. I tried that the other day- So slow. But you know what? You know this, Pat. So the thing about being... The game is all about creating space. You can create it with speed and quickness, or you can create it with strength. He creates space with strength. When that motherfucker can put that shoulder or that hip on you, you're going to move. There's no way around it. And then if you put a big dude on him, he going to put them on skates because he got a wicked handle. He a great passer. When I say great passer, there's two elements to being a great passer. One is your vision, right? Like your ability to see shit that other guys can't. You can throw guys open. He can make all the passes in that regard. But then the other thing that he's starting to get better at is the other key element. This is where LeBron is the best, obviously. He's a great ball mover. So when you move it, what you do is create an advantage for your teammate. So he don't throw you the ball after he can't get the shot.

[00:51:10]

And then you catch it and you ain't got nowhere to go.

[00:51:13]

He goes- On time, on target is what we call it.

[00:51:15]

On time, on target, where not only can you catch and shoot, but you got a defender running at you where you can now make a play. Because a lot of our guys in the league, they're really good and they can score, but they're not necessarily going to score against great defense. So how do you make them better is you give them the ball where a dude got to close out from eight feet away. Now, if Pat Bave catch it and a guy got to close 10 feet away- I feel good. You got a chance. I feel good. But If you catch it, that motherfucker in your ass already, and he dictating what way you're going to go, now you don't have an advantage.

[00:51:52]

I'm getting off of it. There you go, Yannis. Make the game easy for me. There you go, Dame.

[00:51:57]

So that's the other thing he got. He and Kyrie both are great passers. So they can make the lops, they can make the pocket passes, they can throw it from the baseline, they can hit all the spots. They got all the tools when they come to pass it. And then the guys they pass into, that's how they want to play. Derrick Jones Jr. Ain't trying to beat nobody one-on-one. P. J ain't trying to beat you one-on-one. Those guys want to be able to catch it at that three-point line where they got space. And then now, Lively, he knows how to catch it at the free throw line, and he can now either get to the rim or he can make that pocket opposite pass to the corner or to the free throw line extended for the three. So they're guys, they all comfortable with their roles, and that's another element of it.

[00:52:39]

Shout out to J. K. That's coaching right there.

[00:52:41]

That's coaching. He did coach their ass up, man? And like them dudes, and again, you know this, when you play with that dude, it makes you more confident. Because it ain't like, Luka comfortable taking 30 shots a night. He's not going to shy away from that. I tell people, too, we're a truly great player, and this is the difference between right now him and Kyrie and and and Kat. If Luca was three for 18 going into the four quarter in the game as a one or two possession game, that's all he thinking about. He expected to make the next one. Other guys, if they're struggling shooting the game in the first three quarters, they're going to shy away from it. They're not going to be able to play with the same level of confidence. That's how those great ones, AI was like that. Kobe was like that. Lebron, like those guys, they don't let their stats affect how they play. They focus on time and score because they know. Look, in a playoff, it's hard because it's supposed to be. It's more physical. You ain't running shit that they ain't ready to see. You play a team four, five, six, seven times.

[00:53:49]

You ain't tricking nobody. You're going to have to play against a defense that knows what's coming.

[00:53:56]

He might be the best player. He might be the best player in this playoff. I ain't going to lie. No, there's no credit. And up until this point, he might be the best player in the last three, four playoffs.

[00:54:05]

Listen, Luka, he don't always get the credit, but there's no credit. Look, Jokuj is a hell of a player, man. We all know that. And he can do all the stuff that Luka can do to a certain extent from the center position. But he still needs his teammates to make plays for him. And you saw it in that series against Minnesota. It Murray is a really good player. Murray is not on that level yet. He's not an FCA type where he can get it going. But when you saw the net, he had that great first half in game seven, and then you couldn't find it in the second half. He had to put an APB out on. You couldn't find it. And that's where it wasn't enough for them because they needed him to be the way Kyrie. If Luka is doing what Luka is doing and Kyrie ain't, they not win it. They can win games in the regular season, but they can't win a championship unless those two dudes... This reminds me, remember when LeBron and Kyrie, when they beat the Warriors? Steph talked about this. Steph said, Man, I ain't never seen two dudes be that on for That long because you wait for them to have a bad game.

[00:55:18]

That's a good call. That's a great call.

[00:55:21]

And they're not... Those guys are just so comfortable. They can consistently score on great defense. Your double teams ain't going to hurt them. And that's why people killing Gobert. I'm like, Dude, he ain't the problem. Rudy Gobert is not why they down 3-0. Shit, if one of your two best players shooting 20 % from the field and you don't even play them in the four-quarter in one game, you lose it because your best players ain't getting it done.

[00:55:48]

That's what I said. I said the offense is draining the defense. That's what I said in the beginning. That's exactly what it is. And we're going to pivot away from that and we're going to talk about one of my favorites for a long time, Cole Anthony.

[00:56:02]

Oh, man.

[00:56:03]

He a dog. Hey, G, I've been around a lot of these young guys, man. And when it comes to the light skin, look and color, I feel some type of way. But him, I like him, G.

[00:56:14]

He tough. He got a chance, man. He got a chance.

[00:56:16]

He strong. I'm going to say this about him from playing against him. I don't know if it's because of his age. I don't know if it's because of his upbringing. But when he is tested and things get hard, and I don't know, it might not be playing time one game, or I don't know, he might not fit the role of a point guard But sometimes he might be starting, and sometimes he might be not. When things get hard, he gets better, and I like that.

[00:56:52]

Yeah. He had a lot of adversity this year because he had a lot of shit going on off the court that affected him. But I will say also, they got a great locker room, man. They got a great... And that's the one thing that's so unique about a lot of these young teams, man. They fuck with each other. They all really close. They ride with each other through the ups and the downs. There ain't no ego, ain't no agenda there. They just about win it. And that's why you see young teams doing shit today that they didn't do 20 years ago. Because I'll go back to you. We talked about J. K. I remember when J. K. Was with Jamal Majburn, and I think it was Jimmy Jackson. They had all that talent. They couldn't win because it was ego. They're fighting each other, trying to shine, and they're not focusing on trying to win. They're trying to establish themselves. And what they have with Orlando, and what's great about them is those dudes, they're focusing on winning. They're trying to win. And so when you play winning basketball, the stats don't always reflect it because it could be a possession here or there that determines the outcome of a series.

[00:58:03]

And so with young teams, that ain't always there. But you've seen that change with these groups now. You look at Indiana, you look at OKC, you look at Minnesota. The reality is Dallas young, too. You look at a lot of these young teams, man, it's unique to have them understand what they have to do to win. That's why Dallas and Boston are where they are is because they know why they win. And every Everybody happy with winning. And so it's hard to establish that. And so for the Magic and Cole, they've done that. I'm excited to see them next year because I think they're going to take a big step. Everybody's saying they got a lot of money, or they need to go do this. And I'm like, No, if I'm them, I'm like, We're going to let our young guys see how good they can be first. When you're 22, 21, 23, I want them to grow before I start now trying to go out and bring in big personalities or big talents, because that sometimes can suffocate those guys.

[00:59:05]

They don't need a superstar.

[00:59:08]

No, they just need somebody.

[00:59:10]

Okay, cool. That's been there before. Locker Room guy, vet. Cool. Do you all thing. Don't get too crazy. When it's time to put in work, let's put it in. But I like Cole. I actually thought that he should have played a little bit more in the playoffs, too. Obviously, I'm not in the locker room, but that game in Cleveland, he had a hell of a first half. Hell of a first half. I think Cleveland made some adjustments, and he really didn't play a lot of second half, but I'm excited to see his Grove G. From a father's perspective, high How does it feel, man, having your son in the NBA.

[00:59:47]

It's great, man, because the off the payroll one. That's always nice. You know what I'm most happy for with him? Because I got four kids, and I never really pushed my kids. I always tell people, let your kid tell you what they want to do, because no matter what they choose, you can teach them all the life lessons. Whatever the sport is, whatever the hobby is, you can teach them all the life lessons. And so early on, basketball was this thing. He played lacrosse, soccer, wanted to play football, baseball. He did all those things. And he was in the fifth grade. He was like, Dad, I just want to focus on basketball. And at the time, he wasn't even that good. So But I would say it myself. But I was like, all right, because I thought maybe baseball might be a sport. I was like, all right, well, these are things you got to do if you want to be good at it. And even at that point, I was like, well, shit, I know enough people. I can get them a D1 scholarship somewhere, right? But once he took ownership, he took off and committed to it.

[01:00:52]

He was a pro in terms of his approach at a young age. And so that was really cool. So, yeah, as a dad, you're always proud. My oldest daughter- Bam, that's fine. Look, my oldest daughter played. She was a New York State Player of the Year. She's at Harvard now. She's not playing. She got caught up in COVID, so she didn't get to play, but she played at a high level. Same approach with her. But my youngest son, I got a sixth grader. He got a chance to be better. He's completely different than Cole, though. He don't love it yet. He like it, and he's starting to get good at it because now he's starting to work. My wife's like, You got to push it like, Hey. I was like, I can't want it for him more than he wants it. He's starting at least now, he'll come home, now he's like, Dad, let's go out on the court. So then we'll go out on the court and we'll work on some stuff. But generally, what I did the same thing with Cole, I control who coaches. So if I got to tell him something, or I want him to work on something, I go tell the coach.

[01:01:54]

I say, Hey, have him do this. Have him work on that. Because you're dad, man. And when you're dead, you can't... Some people can do it. I couldn't. You can't be coach and dad because I'm going to have to tell him no a lot already and push him in other areas. So it makes it easier if I could have people that I trust to push in on the court. It's like your teachers. They listen to their teachers. They're going to listen to their coaches even more than me. My oldest son, like, Oh, call I didn't even think I knew anything about basketball. I shouldn't say it like that, but it happens because I'm dad. It's just different when it comes from dad. And then when he got to about 13, he came to me. He's like, You know what, dad? I'm just going to listen to you when it comes to basketball. And I said to him, I was like, Man, I said, Oh, my job ain't to tell you how to do everything. My job is to teach you how to make good decisions and teach you how to get better. You got to go do it.

[01:02:58]

I can give you a a blueprint, but ultimately, it's the choices you're going to make. And so that's really how I approach it with my kids. And you see this, you see on the circuit now, man, these parents, some of them are just beyond wild. It's just crazy. I'm like, you fifth, sixth grade. I'm like, your kid isn't going to college tomorrow.

[01:03:18]

They out here beating up referees, G. Yeah, man.

[01:03:21]

And I'm like, they don't understand. Think about the lesson you showing your kid or how you handle diversity. When she Shit, don't go your way. And I tell Cole, I'm telling my young, I say, Look, you ain't going to never play in a game where the official don't make a lot of bad calls. We're in a sixth grade tournament. I said, Look, these officials, they ain't no better than the kids playing. This ain't their job. They just showing up on a weekend to make a few extra dollars. They do for a living. They're going to miss calls. I would tell my guys, look, you ever played a game where you didn't turn it over, didn't miss a shot, didn't make a mistake on a rotation. Basketball gave them mistakes. And the guys that can handle the adversity, the best, generally, are the ones that had the most success. And that's really how you have to approach it. So that's what we try to teach a lot is we want you to be accountable, and we also want you to take ownership. When you fuck up, don't be point fingers. Don't blame other people. Own it and figure out why you fucked up, and then how can I get better at it.

[01:04:31]

And if you can do that, then you don't have a chance to play. And so that's now for me having gone through it with my oldest, now my youngest son. We just started his journey, and so it is fun. It keeps me young, man. That's what's up. Oh, yeah. I love the game. I know you love it. The game has been good to us, man.

[01:04:50]

Great. The game has been great to us.

[01:04:53]

Man, I'm loving it every day, bro, and excited. And I also think the game has never been better. I'm not one of those old heads that always want to talk about how much better the game was because the game fucking wasn't better. People always try to talk about, these guys aren't more skilled. It's just they get to play more free. I'm like, you all need to quit, man. Guys in the 50s He's weren't as good as guys in the '70s. They just weren't. It's not to say that the guys, when they played, they were the best in the world. They just were. They were the best in the world at that time. But the game has evolved. I tell a funny story.

[01:05:27]

And steady evolving. Yeah. I I tell this stat. These motherfuckers are for real, G. These motherfuckers are...

[01:05:35]

You see me? They do shit that you never even thought was doing. I tell this funny stat. You know the great Bill Russell, greatest winner in our game has ever seen, and RIP to him, and also the great Bill Walton, who's a friend who I have the most respect for. But you know the great Bill Russell in his entire career, he never shot 50 % from the field. Think about that. And Remember, he ain't shooting no threes.

[01:06:01]

All these hooks.

[01:06:02]

But he was still the best ever. Bob Coosy, at his time, he changed the game. He never shot 40 % from the field, not once in his whole career for a season. Think about that. And so that just tells you how much the game has evolved. Now you look at guys like Kyrie. When people say he's the most skilled ever, everybody equate that with being the most accomplished. No, that's not No, they're going to be guys that have won more championships, that have won more MVPs, that have won all these other things. But when it comes to the skill of playing the game with the basketball, we ain't ever seen anybody could do the stuff that Kyrie does with the ball. Kyrie put spirit in you.

[01:06:46]

Each hand. Each hand.

[01:06:49]

Each hand. I mean, he a great shooter, great mid-range, great finisher, great passer. And again, for us, we in the game, and I marvel, and I enjoy watching his talent. And I enjoy watching that and that was talent. When he figured it out... Because the play-offs, I tell people this about the game, man. The regular season shows you what you can be, but the postseason tells you who you are. You find out who you are in the postseason because that's when the game gets more physical. You ain't going to catch a team that played the night before and you had three days of rest.

[01:07:28]

My type of game. That type of game.

[01:07:31]

Yeah. That's when you find out and you can see how tentative Ant is for stretches because he's not sure yet because of the experience. He ain't been there. And what it's going to tell him is, I got to go master my mid-range. You look at SGA now, even though they lost that series of Dallas, they couldn't do shit with him.

[01:07:54]

That was a hell of a series. It was a hell of a series.

[01:07:56]

They had two SGA's on Dallas.

[01:08:00]

That was it. That was the difference.

[01:08:05]

But see, Jalen Williams got a chance to get there. Chet Holmer, he coming. They're going to get there. Same thing with Minnesota. It's just Dallas I said, Y'all coming, but we here.

[01:08:18]

I know you've been so generous with your time.

[01:08:24]

I don't want to soak up too much of it, but there is a historical question that I want to ask you. I want you to set the record straight on something.

[01:08:31]

Ron, this is the last question, man. Let this man go, man.

[01:08:33]

This is the last question. I got to look at my little lady.

[01:08:34]

I got to look at my daughter. Go ahead. So some history. I rewatched the Reggie Miller, 8 points in 32 seconds against the Knicks. But did you get fouled in that sequence? Because there's two plays that I looked at where it could have been that you got fouled personally.

[01:08:53]

Yes. Well, let me say this.

[01:08:56]

Okay, go ahead.

[01:08:56]

First of all, yeah, I got fouled, but it don't matter. They call it. Shit, that happens all the time. And the other thing I'm going to say is we won that series. People forget that. Reggie, my dude, he's like, Man, we beat their ass that I'm serious.

[01:09:15]

Okay, G. Hey, go ahead, G. Go ahead, go ahead. Do your thing.

[01:09:18]

I'm good. Keep that. Put that in that pipe and smoke it.

[01:09:22]

Love, G. Thanks for your time, O G.

[01:09:25]

All right, man. You all be safe, man. Keep doing your thing, man.

[01:11:01]

Enlightened individual. That man was on a higher plane.

[01:11:05]

No, no, no. I'm talking about a whole another level. He made it okay. We're getting old. You get old, you can say anything you want. He said anything he want, acted the way he did, didn't put on a front, dressed the way he wanted to, inspiring, positive, always a smile, always a smile. I'm talking about huge smile from ear to ear, like huge. You appreciate him. So, yeah, rest in paradise, Bill Waller, man.

[01:11:30]

He was ahead of his time. Why was Karl Anthony Towns, why has he been ineffective?

[01:11:43]

I think it's a mixture of things. I think they're playing them really, really physical. When in the physicality, you got to adjust your game. The ball movement, it's lack of ball movement. It's lack of bald movement, right? You see sometimes Karl here run off six straight, and sometimes he missed six in a row. They're trapping, they're sending ghost traps, they're sending fake traps, they're making an ant play in the pick and roll. They're doing a lot of stuff out there defensively. Like I said, you got to get J-K credit. And they're attacking them at the other end. You know what I'm saying? And I'm just using the words they use, right? We were tired. Our legs were heavy. Seven games with the champs of motherfuckers. Coming off then playing Dallas. And that's not an excuse, neither. It's just a different game. It's just a different game out there. They're attacking them. They're making them put the ball on the floor. Dallas low man is not a... And there's no disrespect to Jokuj, but everyone knows Jokuj is not a rim protector, but they got some guys that's going to go get that shit on Dallas.

[01:13:16]

Lively, he don't care about getting dunked on. Gaffer don't care about getting dunked on. Derrick Jones don't care about getting dunked on. P. J. Washington, don't give a fuck about getting dunked on. And those guys aren't the 6'1, 6'2, 6'4 guys. The motherfuckers is six sevens and six eights and six nines. So they meeting them at the rim. They're being physical with them. I don't know how many times I've seen Cat on the ground. They're being real physical with them. They're just changing. It's just this physicality. And with that, he should be going to the free throw line more if it's physicality. So yeah, he needs to play better for them to win. Of course. He knows that, though. Cat knows that. When he plays good, they win.

[01:13:55]

Let's hit this, New Amsterdam, Starting Five, New Amsterdam Vodka. Worn from an uncompromising passion for fantastic, above-the-rim Vodka. Absolutely magnificent. [01:14:34]

Dream on, build on, beam on, shine on, play on, carry on. Bill Walton. Rest in paradise, my boy.

[01:14:49]

So he's the number one. Starting five, Bill Walton is in your top five, Announcers.

[01:14:53]

I think it should be the Bill Walton Award.

[01:14:57]

For the best announcing of the year. That would be a Great. That would be brilliant.

[01:15:01]

Bill Walton is definitely one.

[01:15:03]

Okay. I know one who's definitely going to be on your list. A certain lady, Ms. Doris Burke.

[01:15:15]

No, that's what I did. She go. She go. That's easy. But I'm not going in rankings, though. Top five, announcement. You ready? Bill Walton.

[01:15:24]

Doris Burke. Okay. Bang. Mike You mean?

[01:15:30]

Bang.

[01:15:35]

The double bang.

[01:15:37]

Bang, bang.

[01:15:41]

Fuck, you mean?

[01:15:43]

He had a bang last night. Who They had a bang from the corner last night. Bang.

[01:15:48]

You're right. Okay, cool. Now, my next two.

[01:15:51]

There's a couple of ways you could go with this next one. You could go historic.

[01:15:55]

I know. I want to go historic, but I want to give mine, though. Okay.

[01:16:00]

What's yours?

[01:16:02]

I'm going...

[01:16:12]

Choose wisely.

[01:16:14]

I know, man. I know what you're going to try to hit me with, too. I know what you're going to hit me with. But don't say yours yet. Don't say yours.

[01:16:20]

This isn't even mine. I'm just going to give honorable mention after the fact because I'm not going to just pick up from the scraps.

[01:16:25]

No, no, no. I ain't no scrap. What do you mean, the scraps? Don't disrespect them. What are you talking about?

[01:16:30]

All right, well, then pick your next one. This dude's thinking forever. None for the culture either, bro.

[01:16:35]

Relax, man. Relax, relax.

[01:16:38]

You got to have something for the culture.

[01:16:40]

Relax.

[01:16:42]

What if I just start pitching you names?

[01:16:45]

No, I got names. I'm just trying to see how I want to do it. I'm going to go... Got to go, Chuck.

[01:16:52]

But he's not a game announcement. He's not part of this conversation. Chuck's not part of the conversation. Okay.

[01:16:58]

Kevin Harland.

[01:16:59]

Kevin Kevin Harland is good. Kevin Harland is- Okay.

[01:17:02]

And my last one, I'm going Huby Brown last one.

[01:17:10]

Hubey Brown. A classic. That's an intelligent man right there. Hubie Brown is a legend in the game. Some of you left off, though, Marv Albert. Come on, bro. Marv Albert's a legend. Iron Eagle, who's nice with it. Dick Stockton, nice with it. Or what about JJ Reddick? Nice with it.

[01:17:33]

Great with it.

[01:17:35]

How about any of them for the culture? How about Gus Johnson for the culture? Reggie Miller for the culture?

[01:17:40]

Richard Jefferson. I was going to pick Reggie. I like Reggie. I love Reggie.

[01:17:44]

Reggie Miller for the culture, bro.

[01:17:45]

Yeah, but you're going to say five.

[01:17:48]

Okay. Well, listen, I guess I have more for the culture in my five.

[01:17:53]

Don't start that shit.

[01:17:55]

Bro, you know who just reposted our shit the other day? Or who literally reposted everything we put up is Tip of the Dawn, bro. Cheese fries. Bro, but I did go on Cheese fries page. I think I like more of Cheese fries pictures than you do, bro.

[01:18:10]

Hey, chill. I don't like nobody. There you go. There you go with that shit. What? You sound like my I'm a girl. I just want you to support Cheese fries. I had to post a pot because I wanted to be fresh. I wanted everybody to have to... Because some people, it's a trigger. It's a in the story, I watched it, whatever, when it comes to Instagram. So I delete all my pictures. I think I had our picture up, I don't know, 21 hours. I deleted it because I want people to pop up fresh. I don't want them to go back to when I was in Vegas, just all my pod stuff. I get a text message, I'm talking about text message, text message, text message, space, three minutes past, text message, text message, text message. So I'm either like, damn, either one or two things. When When I look at my phone, I'm not looking at it to be like, okay, cool. I can feel a vibe on how the text message is going. Those lines is either one thing good or bad. Most of the time bad, though.

[01:19:12]

Like that, if it's back to back, that's bad.

[01:19:15]

She's like, you posted our pic, you took it down. I'm like, baby, I was just posting my pop, baby, no I'm going to disrespect. Don't act like that, bro. Don't act like that. I'm sorry, didn't mean that. You're giving me PTSD, my boy.

[01:19:35]

You're not going to give me drama.

[01:19:36]

But Tip is the man, though, and he's always putting us on, bro.

[01:19:41]

What was he... Did he have some shit on Loveback?

[01:19:44]

He had something perfect. What was it? You said you got it. And I told him, I said, Man, this season, if we sign back with a barstool, I want you to come on the pod, to come on some new ideas. He said, Hey, bro, a shout out to Tip of the Dawn. If you all don't follow Tip of the Dawn, follow Tip of the Dawn, one of the greatest human beings on walking on God's green earth. I say, Love Gang, what does it mean to you, Tip of the Dawn? Give me some ideas for Love Gang. And you know me, I'm thinking he about to hit me with inspiring, motivating, family net it. I'm looking for that type of stuff. Tip of the Dawn hit me with the... Tip of the Dawn, you all. He hit me with the Love Gang, Loyalty, undeniably verified. L-u-v. Gang, going after new grounds. Ron, I didn't know what to do with it, Ron. I didn't know if it was... He stole it from somebody or I was It's brilliant. It's actually brilliant.

[01:21:03]

Loyalty, undeniably verified, going after new grounds.

[01:21:08]

Love, Gang.

[01:21:10]

Damn, Tiff, bro. He might have division, bro.

[01:21:13]

No, we got to put him on payroll. We need to, bro. 360 contract, what they used to do back in the day.

[01:21:19]

No, we didn't want to give him his freedom. Give him his publishing, bro. Give him his publishing.

[01:21:22]

You got to let him eat, huh? You got to sleep in the HQ. We got to let him eat. Barstool love him.

[01:21:27]

Yeah, have him in the songwriting factory.

[01:21:29]

Shout out Tip of the Dawn, man. Shout out to Tip of the Dine.

[01:21:31]

Well, bro, we need to have him on payroll. Stat. Incredible. Well, dude, before we get out of here, why don't you hit me with your MVP of the Week, bro? Presented by Body Armor. Our Body Armor, Zero Sugar, MVP of the Week, Zero Sugar. Incredible stuff. Electrolytes. This Body Armor is going to get me my voice back, bro. Antoxidants, the B vitamins. The B vitamins are what I need. And it's not just one B. B3, B5, B6. But before I go any further, hit me with this MVP of the Week, bro. Body armor, zero sugar.

[01:22:05]

Got to be the Ivus, right? Jalen Brown.

[01:22:08]

Jalen Brown. Eastern Conference Finals MVP, Jalen Brown. Mvp.

[01:22:14]

Larry Bird Trophy. How that feel?

[01:22:16]

It's got to feel good bringing it back home to Boston. Boston's got to be fired up about this one.

[01:22:21]

We got to talk about one more thing, though. You're a league versus NBA. God bless you. You okay?

[01:22:30]

Thank you for the blessings. I'm fantastic. I'm blessed.

[01:22:34]

Yeah.

[01:22:35]

Let me crack into this body armor, honestly. Euroleague MVP.

[01:22:39]

You're a league. Sluukas. Costa Sluukas. He was my teammate in Olympiacos room.

[01:22:44]

Sluukas was? Bro, I didn't even know you played with Sluukas.

[01:22:49]

I played with Sluukas. We didn't play at all. We just practiced against each other every day, killing each other.

[01:22:56]

And now he's MVP.

[01:22:58]

One of your early champ. Mvp. I talked to K9. We're getting Kendrick Nunn on the pod, too. Shout out to K9. He also is a champion over there. Panthanaekels won a championship. But I paid for the rival team. Olympiacos, Gate Nine.

[01:23:14]

Gate Nine?gate nine.

[01:23:16]

What does that mean? I ain't going to get too crazy on you, but if you know, you know type five.

[01:23:21]

It sounds like a-Chill, chill, chill.

[01:23:24]

That's enough.

[01:23:25]

It sounds like they're going after new ground, if you know what I mean.

[01:23:28]

Right, right, right. Okay, So shout out to gate nine. Right, love game. But no, it was great. Euroleague Championship was great. The basketball was always... I'm just glad that European basketball can get a lot of light shine on it now because a lot of people are watching basketball. It's a lot of media everywhere, so you get a ton of access to it. I'm happy they finally getting their flowers, man.

[01:23:52]

Yeah, and you did a whole video breakdown. If you're on our channel watching, you guys should definitely hop over and watch Pat's video breakdown. But in the essence of it, what are you saying as the differentiating factors and the similarities between the style of play in EuroLeague basketball and NBA?

[01:24:08]

Yeah. I mean, if you interviewed every European guy, everybody will want to play in the NBA. So NBA is definitely the best league in the world. But when it comes to single game, I'm not going to use the word seriousness because everyone in NBA takes every game serious. But the weight of each game matters. I got fined in Europe for us just losing a regular season game, not even in a playoff.

[01:24:48]

You got fined?

[01:24:50]

Fine. You motherfuckers didn't come out, you all weren't ready. You fined in your ass.

[01:24:54]

They docked your pay for not being for losing the game.

[01:24:57]

Damn, Coach, I didn't even play. What the Fuck, man. I haven't even played. You're part of the team. How much? 10 %.

[01:25:04]

We're taking money from all of you.

[01:25:07]

You know what I'm saying? Man, end of the season. Oh, man, I got like 60,000 in bonus Penses. Don't see it.

[01:25:16]

Because you guys didn't go far enough?

[01:25:18]

I mean, my fucker just didn't pay. I got a team in Ukraine, owe me some bread. We lost early.

[01:25:26]

You got to hit up Zolinsky, bro.

[01:25:28]

You're going to come get it in blood? How dare you? You know what? You're right. I'm going to just get on this plane right back to the States, bro. Thank you for the opportunity, sir. I don't have games where you win, you come in locker rooms, money in a little bag. Everybody get bonuses.

[01:25:44]

Really?

[01:25:45]

Yeah. So it's the pressure of each game. The pressure and the weight of each game in the EuroLeague and the European basketball matters.

[01:25:57]

So basketball is in a great place right now. Europe Rael League, NBA. The women are selling more tickets than the men in some places. We got Olympic basketball right around the corner.

[01:26:08]

Hoops, hoops, hoops. Shout out the troops. Memorial Day just passed. Hoops, hoops, hoops. Shout out the troops. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Fix that back screen for a high day. Fire your ass, bro. Don't you take the Pat Bed pod off the screen, bro. Don't do that to me. You wouldn't do that to Call Her Daddy. Don't do that to me. I'm gone, man. I'm gone. Right, Pat Bed pod.
