No, I like getting in the mud. The day I stop responding to people is the day the game has passed me by. I got it. I got to. I got in a fight today with I was fighting with people with 10 followers about the number of ads on part of my take. I just had to do it. You have to do it. You can't just let them.

I have no problem I have a problem with real criticism. I have a problem when people exaggerate criticism and put out fake news. I think one guy was like, there was 10 minutes of ads to start the show. I went and listened. There was two and a half minutes of ads. That's every podcast in the history of podcasting. So I had to fight. But I realized afterwards I was probably stupid to fight because I was just responding to people with no followers and looking like an idiot. But sometimes you got to just do And you have to remind them that you're just as real of a person as they are.

They think of you as this untouchable figure. I'm in the mud. And that you don't even exist. But yeah, you got to get that in the mouth sometimes. You got to top it off.

This actually bothers me because people think I would have hoped that given my career and how long I've been doing this, and Ron, you know me very well, no one cares more than I do. I fucking care a lot. I've had fights with our sales team, and we've put a cap on the amount of ads that can be in an episode. I've fought for the people for this reason. I've said, Here's the cap. We will not go over the cap. Hank, the same way. To pretend that we just are like, Oh, yeah, we'll just do a whole podcast with just nothing but ads. You're crazy. You don't think I'm fighting? I'm fighting all the time. It was not more ads than usual. I can't control the 15 second pre-roll that they put in. That's not us. I can't do that. I don't even know what's in there. There's a 15-second pre-roll. I say what's on the show. I did the DraftKings ad. The music plays. I say, Welcome to part of my take presented by DraftKings. There's a 10-second read that's just like a continuation of the first ad. There was one ad to start the show.

One, the same as I've always done. Shut up, people. But here's the problem is I responded, and then people, they know, see, this is what's happening. I tip my cap. They know. They know I care too much, and then they can just get me. I have to, at some point, just tip my cap and be like, You got me, guys. You know this is going to make me mad. And then I walk away. That's pretty much how all these experiences go? I like the- I think I'm going to start adding people more than this summer.

Here's the thing. As long as you... I skipped the hip hop to listen to the ads. I might just do a podcast. Next week, we might just do all ads. The thing you got to know, Pat, though, is you get in the mud, you chop it up. As long as you can, and this has taken me a long time to be able to to learn this, as long as you can walk away from it at some point, you're okay. Because there will be a point where I'll just walk away and I'm like, I'm not responding to anyone else. This topic is over. If you could do that, then it's fun to chop it up. I used to let it just consume me to a point that it was unhealthy.

Well, you give one person a reaction, then other people will start coming because they know they can get a reaction, and then they might do a little bit more jump out the window. But you look at Kevin Durant, he's one of the main perpetrators of this. He'll respond to people. He'll get in the mud a little bit. Sometimes he's just like, Yeah, I'm just a real person just like you are, and that's the same type of attitude.

That's the thing. It's like, I have to respond every now and then because I don't want to be the guy who just never responds to anyone.

With the ad thing, no, there's two things. One, all these people are saying that they literally skip the ads. It's not like an unskippable ad, which would be a completely different thing. Two, part of my take is the biggest sports podcast, full stop. And so as another person that works at Barstool, it trickles It's a trickled-down economy. The more cool shit we can do, the more ads that are on part of my take, the more cool stuff that can happen across the board. This is helpful.

Yeah. This is why we can build a fucking mini golf course. That's why we can afford the office.
