Did you have as great of a weekend as Natalie and I did?

[00:01:47]

I believe so, maybe.

[00:01:48]

Did you? Are you sure?

[00:01:51]

How? Tell us about your great weekend.

[00:01:52]

Oh, I went to brunch, and I played with a baby all day, and then I was hungover and watched old episodes of Summerhouse while getting ready for this week.

[00:02:01]

Old episodes of Summer House.

[00:02:02]

Oh, my God. Yes. I told you. I'm a Bravo purist. If I don't know what to watch, it's an old season of a Bravo tv show.

[00:02:07]

Are you missing out on the summer house?

[00:02:08]

I am missing it so much, I cannot wait.

[00:02:11]

Is summer house your favorite rewatch Bravo franchise?

[00:02:15]

Not gonna lie. Yeah. Cause it doesn't require a lot of thinking. There's not a lot of. A lot of drama in that type of way. Like, this past season was crazy, but typically, it's just fun.

[00:02:23]

Did you rewatch this past season?

[00:02:25]

That's what I was watching.

[00:02:26]

Yeah.

[00:02:27]

Any new takeaways?

[00:02:28]

I just told them. I was like, I don't know. I was really hungover. And hearing Jesse start singing open pit barbecue sauce. I was losing it. He was just a great addition to the show, but, yeah, no new takeaways.

[00:02:40]

Just.

[00:02:40]

I love everybody on that show.

[00:02:41]

Does it drive you crazy that the next season comes next summer? Like, you have to wait a whole year, essentially, for the next season.

[00:02:47]

Is it next?

[00:02:48]

No, I think it comes out in winter. That's why I've always been confused.

[00:02:52]

When did it come out last year?

[00:02:53]

Did it not come out during the.

[00:02:54]

Summer or, like, end of, like, spring, early winter?

[00:02:57]

Right.

[00:02:57]

When did. When was America calling West a fuck boy?

[00:03:00]

I feel like we just had them on. No, I was, like, yesterday.

[00:03:03]

Do you have any more? Where do you stand in?

[00:03:06]

Let's rehash this.

[00:03:06]

Yeah, where do you stand?

[00:03:08]

Our audience is missing us rehashing this.

[00:03:11]

Same as I was last time you asked me.

[00:03:14]

What did you say then?

[00:03:15]

Well, that last time we got into it. Because I didn't accept his apology. No, I mean, I think Wes is a great addition as well. However, do I think he's a little fuckboy that, like, could have taken my responsibility? Absolutely. And I will die on that hill with you, my guy.

[00:03:29]

Well, your mother in law. My mom was in town for, like, a week, and she left on Sunday. But before she left, she gave me my birthday present. Ooh. Cause my birthday is on Saturday. And it was a card that had, like, on the front. It was a drawing of a mom with a baby. And she's had that card for 30 years. She was like, I bought this cardinal 30 years ago, and I just, like, loved it so much, but I never had anyone that I could give it to. Like, I just. No one was ever worthy of it, so I've just held onto it. And then she gave me, like, she wrote, obviously, in the card. And then she gave me a baby bangle for river, and she said all of, like, her girls wore it. And then she gave me this ring that my dad. She said the first gift my dad gave her was a, like, link chain bracelet, and it broke, and she made a ring out of it. And so she gave me that ring. And she said that that was a gift that he gave her when they were falling in love.

[00:04:25]

I know. And so I'm just, like, sobbing all morning on Sunday because I got these, like, such sentimental gifts from my mom. And.

[00:04:33]

Yeah, I was like, natalie's mom asked me when I was like, I don't know, somewhere else in the house. She's like, what are you, Natalie, for her birthday? Like, I don't fucking know.

[00:04:43]

I heard the deep sigh, and I saw the readjustment in the chair. As soon as she was like, my birthday's on Saturday.

[00:04:49]

And I go, what'd you get now? And she goes, something from the heart.

[00:04:54]

She cried.

[00:04:54]

Well, good fucking for you.

[00:04:56]

Like, she said, top that.

[00:04:58]

No, literally, she was like, something with sentiment.

[00:05:04]

She had a head start, though.

[00:05:05]

Yeah.

[00:05:06]

It's not fair.

[00:05:06]

Tonight she had 30 year head start. 25 years, 26 year head start.

[00:05:10]

That is true. But Nick, I can't wait because Friday night, Nick's gonna go, so what do you wanna do tomorrow for your birthday? If you could do anything in the world, what would you want to do for your birthday?

[00:05:21]

Options, love.

[00:05:23]

I make it easy. My birthday is on Monday, and we're going away for the weekend. And then I was like, I don't care.

[00:05:28]

I just.

[00:05:29]

On a Tuesday, I want you to take me to Disneyland. I haven't been to Disneyland in the longest time. And that's all I want to do, is spend the day at Disney.

[00:05:35]

And he's like, okay, where are you going? Away.

[00:05:38]

Malibu.

[00:05:39]

When's your birthday?

[00:05:40]

September 1.

[00:05:42]

A day after?

[00:05:43]

Yeah.

[00:05:43]

Mm hmm.

[00:05:44]

Because her birthday is our day apart.

[00:05:45]

Wait, yours is on Sunday?

[00:05:46]

No.

[00:05:47]

Yeah. Cause mine's on Saturday.

[00:05:48]

Okay. Mine's on Sunday.

[00:05:49]

I was gonna say I looked it up.

[00:05:50]

Shit.

[00:05:50]

When's the first I know? I'm leaving the hotel on Monday. I thought I was leaving on my birthday, but I need.

[00:05:55]

No, no, no. Yeah, your birthday's Sunday.

[00:05:59]

Yeah.

[00:06:00]

Anyway, so if you have any ideas for what I should give Natalie for her birthday, let me know.

[00:06:03]

She didn't. Wait, was this for Father's day or your birthday when she got you the replacement of the hot that she had.

[00:06:08]

This hat right here.

[00:06:09]

Yeah. That was Father's day.

[00:06:10]

That was Father's day.

[00:06:12]

Is this Kemosabi?

[00:06:13]

Well, I'm sorry. Now he hasn't lost anything of sentiment recently that I have had the opportunity to replace.

[00:06:19]

And now you've missed out on the David Yurma necklace, so that's.

[00:06:22]

I really missed out on that. Yeah. No, for sure missed out. Yeah. Why did you have to not and go ahead and replace the opportunity to spend $10,000?

[00:06:32]

It was not $10,000, but I got it for literally, like, less than a quarter of that.

[00:06:38]

Yeah. No, I am frugal with her money. Although it is nice that now our money is our money is our money. Well, our expenses are our expenses.

[00:06:50]

Are we doing joint bank account? Is that what you're saying?

[00:06:52]

Well, when you file jointly. Okay, for our accountant, it's, uh. It's all your expenses are the same.

[00:06:58]

What's yours is mine.

[00:07:00]

It's like, no, I. You know, she gets to buy her own handbags now, at least half of it.

[00:07:05]

And he'll never know.

[00:07:09]

Until I carry it.

[00:07:10]

And he's like, where's is that? And I'm like, years Vivrel for years. Oh, my God. No. Literally, I opened up a Vivrel bag, and he was like, what the. Like, I rented it.

[00:07:24]

Well, over the weekend. We had an amazing time because we went to the Kane Brown concert on Saturday, had a little parent night. Thank you, mother in law, for babysitting river. We got to. We stayed up late.

[00:07:36]

We did.

[00:07:36]

We stayed up late.

[00:07:37]

Next.

[00:07:37]

And we interviewed Mister Caine Brown backstage, which you all get to hear momentarily after household headlines, of course.

[00:07:44]

Yeah. Nick said when we were on our way home, because we, like, again, it was like, after midnight. I know. And he was like, should we go to Taco Bell? And so we were gonna go to Taco Bell, and then the line was really long. So he's like, let's just go to 711. He was like, it feels like we're in college.

[00:07:58]

Yeah.

[00:07:59]

Wait, say Taco Bell again.

[00:08:00]

Taco Bell.

[00:08:01]

Okay. You said it, right?

[00:08:01]

What do you mean?

[00:08:02]

It was giving bougie.

[00:08:04]

How did I say it?

[00:08:04]

Taco Bell.

[00:08:05]

Taco Bell. Anyway, so he said that it, like, reminded him of, like, if we were in college together.

[00:08:12]

But that's cute.

[00:08:13]

Yeah. We would never be.

[00:08:16]

When did he walk on? When did he walk on stage? Cause there was, like, five openers, right?

[00:08:23]

He had three openers. Okay, three.

[00:08:25]

But that's a long time.

[00:08:26]

That's a lot of stuff.

[00:08:27]

You know what he did, which I appreciate. He came out on time.

[00:08:31]

093-9393 and he came down from the ceiling. It was pretty crazy. They had a lot of lasers going on.

[00:08:39]

And this is country music.

[00:08:40]

Yes. It's fake. Cain is like.

[00:08:42]

Kane is like. I mean, I'm not one to describe music in general.

[00:08:45]

Do you want me to do it? Thank you.

[00:08:47]

It's a gateway to country music.

[00:08:50]

Kane is all over the board. Okay, so Kane is like, he is country, but he also. He's.

[00:08:55]

Which.

[00:08:55]

And this is something I said to him. I'm like, you've collaborated with quite literally everyone. Like, the most random people. People all over the board. He's collaborated with her. He's collaborating with Khalid. He's collaborating with Swae Lee. He's like, so many people. A bunch of country artists, Blake Shelton, all these people. And he just was like, yeah. When the song speaks to me. He has a rap song. He's got. He's got pop songs. He's got rock songs.

[00:09:15]

He's got one of those, like, rich, soulful country voices.

[00:09:18]

He also can, like, he sang Georgia by Ray Charles and, like, bodied it. Very talented man.

[00:09:24]

He's also a new dad, and we got to talk to him about fatherhood, which was really fun for me. I hope you all really enjoy our interview with Cain Brown. Backstage with Cain Brown. It was fun. Anyways, that's momentarily. And we have the wonderful, very charming Rachel Platten with us later this episode as well to talk a little bachelor. Also, Rachel. Rachel has some new music coming out, so that's later this episode. Speaking of Wes, though, he went on a date with Haktua girl.

[00:09:49]

I did see that.

[00:09:50]

Was it a date?

[00:09:51]

It's for his job.

[00:09:52]

For his job.

[00:09:53]

But, you know, so I feel like that's a little, like, rumor spreading. Rumor spreading.

[00:09:57]

You think Wes is trying to spread a rumor?

[00:09:59]

No, I think everyone is like, oh, my God, he went on a date with her. And it's like, was it a date or was it work?

[00:10:04]

It was work.

[00:10:04]

Like, you went on a date with Crystal Minkoff. Like, what's going on there?

[00:10:07]

I have a good question, too.

[00:10:09]

Ooh, yeah.

[00:10:10]

Wait.

[00:10:11]

Jealous?

[00:10:12]

Love it.

[00:10:12]

Two married people.

[00:10:13]

Let's go.

[00:10:13]

What's going on?

[00:10:16]

I had lunch with Crystal this Saturday. I did.

[00:10:19]

Scandalous.

[00:10:20]

Did it invite me?

[00:10:20]

So was it work, or was it a date?

[00:10:24]

I've had lunch with crystal three times now.

[00:10:26]

Were there cameras there?

[00:10:28]

No. Cynthia Bailey was also there.

[00:10:30]

The Saturday icon of Cynthia Bailey.

[00:10:32]

And I didn't get an invite.

[00:10:33]

You didn't?

[00:10:34]

Would you have wanted to go?

[00:10:35]

I would have gone. I would have taken notes and said nothing the whole time anyways.

[00:10:38]

Yeah, I had lunch with Crystal Minkoff, and Cynthia Bailey didn't invite. Well, actually, Nellie was invited, but was I? Not really.

[00:10:46]

Okay.

[00:10:48]

Well, I technically didn't. And I did not say you should come because I assume you didn't want to.

[00:10:55]

Well, you know, I.

[00:10:57]

Not because you.

[00:10:58]

No, I love them.

[00:10:59]

Love, love. But, like, we weren't gonna be talking about anything.

[00:11:03]

No, it's fine. I'm glad that you passed up on one of Justin and my bucket list opportunities. No, for sure.

[00:11:09]

No, but you will. Totally. Obviously.

[00:11:10]

Well, no, see, the thing is, I didn't get the opportunity to pass up on. Cause he didn't ask.

[00:11:15]

So you were passed.

[00:11:16]

I was passed.

[00:11:17]

Passed on.

[00:11:18]

I was passed on.

[00:11:19]

This will all be explained shortly.

[00:11:21]

Oh, my gosh. Cryptic. Justin and Hailey Bieber had their baby.

[00:11:26]

Congratulations.

[00:11:26]

No, congratulations.

[00:11:28]

I.

[00:11:29]

Everyone, listen. There were a lot of rumors out there, and it was that Hailey, she was having a girl and she was gonna name her plume because she kept posting, like, plum pictures. And some girl on TikTok was like, I'm saying it right now. They're naming their baby plum.

[00:11:45]

And that's why I hate the Internet.

[00:11:46]

Cute name, though.

[00:11:47]

Somebody has an opinion, all of a sudden, a couple people pick it up and they go, Fox.

[00:11:50]

It's facts.

[00:11:51]

Yeah.

[00:11:52]

And no, they had a boy and they named him Jack. So, like, the complete fucking opposite of.

[00:11:57]

This girl and Jack, arguably the most classic men's name.

[00:12:01]

I saw a meme over the weekend that said a celebrity naming their child a normal name. We are on the path of healing. Or path to healing.

[00:12:09]

That's so true.

[00:12:10]

True.

[00:12:11]

That's crazy.

[00:12:12]

The middle name is kind of spicy, though.

[00:12:13]

I don't like the middle name blues, but it's not that spicy.

[00:12:16]

It's not too spicy, though.

[00:12:17]

It's not too spicy. Obviously, we love the music, origins blues. It's not that. It's certainly not hard to pronounce. I just think when it comes to baby names, if you're, like, thinking about, like, what to name your baby, and you start workshopping it with people, and they're like, what? How do you say it? Take a new name.

[00:12:37]

Should I cross off chrysanthemum off of my baby list?

[00:12:40]

Also imagine you. But also imagine you trying to teach your child what their name is, spelling it in kindergarten. You're like, your name is chrysanthemum. And they're like, we're going with Chris. Yeah.

[00:12:53]

Right now it's just like you're just setting up your kids whole life for explaining themselves, getting bullied, picked on. It's just like Jack, right? Easy.

[00:13:02]

It's definitely. It's a. That's a. Yeah. And he'll get the option. So if he's like. If he wants to go by Jack, great. But if he's like, you know what? Maybe I'm a little older. Maybe I'm feeling, like, a little more cool. I'm gonna go by blue. Bluesy.

[00:13:15]

Cute.

[00:13:16]

That's a cute, like, baby. On the complete other end of the spectrum, we have JLo and Ben Affleck officially filed for divorce.

[00:13:24]

Did we see this coming?

[00:13:25]

I mean, no.

[00:13:28]

I was shocked. Gobsmacked.

[00:13:30]

Can we google this? What is the success rate of second marriages to the same person?

[00:13:34]

No, but it's like, that's why you don't go back to your ex. I'm sorry, but, like, hello, jlo, babe.

[00:13:39]

Can you remarry your ex spouse? Like, what's the success rate of those marriages?

[00:13:43]

It is kind of interesting about Ben Affleck, though. I feel like every time he goes through a divorce, it's like he looks happier with an ex. Like, in the next photos, have you noticed that he was, like, with Jennifer Garner this past weekend? And it's just like. He's, like, smiling, and I'm like, we haven't seen you smile in two years.

[00:13:58]

I feel like everyone does it, though. They did that with Jennifer Gardner when he was just starting with J. Lo. Yeah. They showed a bunch of photos of him sad with Jennifer Gardner. And it's like, I think we've all, like, we've learned that Ben Affleck is. That's what he likes to do.

[00:14:10]

He likes to think I was miserable.

[00:14:12]

Do you think. Just, do you think Ben is wanting to get married, or do you think he gets in these relationships and his girlfriends, then his. Then girlfriends are like, we should get married, or do you think it's mutual?

[00:14:23]

I don't know. But he did just buy a $20 million, like, horse ranch.

[00:14:27]

I might feel differently. I don't know. I could be wrong, and I hope I never get this opportunity, but if Natalie were to leave my.

[00:14:34]

Don't say that.

[00:14:36]

Shut that.

[00:14:37]

Don't put that in the air. Do not put that in the air. For you to leave me. Don't put that out there.

[00:14:40]

Well, either way, I just don't think I want to get remarried.

[00:14:44]

Oh, well, duh. Of course. Why don't you ever get remarried? No, wait, let's clarify.

[00:14:49]

I just could never marry anyone else.

[00:14:51]

No, literally, like, if I were to die.

[00:14:54]

No, but I'm being serious. Try it once. Have a couple kids.

[00:14:57]

But what if I died? Would you remarry?

[00:14:59]

No.

[00:15:00]

Would you start dating again?

[00:15:01]

Yeah.

[00:15:02]

Are you serious?

[00:15:04]

I deserve love.

[00:15:05]

You had love with me.

[00:15:07]

I deserve love again.

[00:15:09]

I don't think you do. No. If I'm dead.

[00:15:13]

No, I'm dead.

[00:15:14]

Well, you're never dying. Oh, yeah.

[00:15:16]

I think you should. If I die. Okay.

[00:15:19]

Okay, fine. If you really want me to, I.

[00:15:24]

Will say there's not a stat on, like, same partners for a second marriage. But 67% of second marriages end in divorce.

[00:15:30]

67 in general.

[00:15:31]

Yeah.

[00:15:32]

Is the first one still 50?

[00:15:33]

Yeah. So the second percentage is higher than the first marriage.

[00:15:36]

Okay. Yeah.

[00:15:37]

Oh, I just thought. I thought we were.

[00:15:39]

Well, I suppose, you know, with those people, like, you're going into it with divorce being on the table.

[00:15:44]

Been there, done that. Yeah.

[00:15:45]

Yeah.

[00:15:45]

Oh, but you've done, because you've already been, okay?

[00:15:48]

So it's like, you know, it doesn't work. Like, you know, we aren't compatible in certain ways. Like, why do we think.

[00:15:55]

I think most people, when we get divorced for the first time, there must be some kind of mental hurdle of, like, I can't believe I'm getting divorced. I never imagined this for myself. How could we possibly do this? Especially if you're a first time married couple, like, with a couple of young kids, and you're like, we can't do this for the kids. Second marriage. You're like, fuck, man. I don't even have fucking kids with you. You know, like, done this before. I got my lawyer on fucking speed. You know what I'm saying? Like, so much easier. There's no mental hurdles of, like, maybe there's a. Like, I can't believe I'm getting divorced again. But, like, whatever, you know, after the first one.

[00:16:27]

So are we thinking marriage is death to romance, or is that what that sounded like to me?

[00:16:31]

There's some good, successful second marriages.

[00:16:33]

Yeah. I mean, anything's possible.

[00:16:34]

What breakup song do you think Ben Affleck has on his Instagram profile?

[00:16:38]

Do you think he's just in his car just listening to sappy breakup songs?

[00:16:42]

Lana Del Rey.

[00:16:44]

I feel like he's got, like, narrow.

[00:16:45]

Not Jlo. Jlo have any breakup songs?

[00:16:47]

Probably, yeah, he's definitely not.

[00:16:49]

Do you think he's listening to Jenny from the block is, like, his hype video to get back out there?

[00:16:53]

Definitely not. Definitely not. I don't know, then.

[00:16:57]

Doesn't seem like he would have take well to, like, a high maintenance partner.

[00:17:02]

And yet, because he's pretty high maintenance himself.

[00:17:04]

But I feel like. I feel like Jennifer Gardner is not high maintenance.

[00:17:07]

No, not at all.

[00:17:08]

We love her, but, you know, no disrespect to JLo, but.

[00:17:11]

But they didn't work.

[00:17:12]

Jlo seems like, you know.

[00:17:13]

And I'm challenging that by saying that he was with someone who wasn't high maintenance, and it also didn't work.

[00:17:18]

So maybe because he was high maintenance. Right. So it's like two high maintenance people together is a no no.

[00:17:23]

We think Ben Affleck's high maintenance, is he not?

[00:17:25]

I think. Yeah, I think he is. You could argue he is.

[00:17:28]

Really.

[00:17:28]

Well, the media makes it look like he is.

[00:17:29]

Well, he's always looking a little haggard with his Dunkin donuts. I feel like that's not a high maintenance.

[00:17:33]

There's all kinds of different high maintenance. It seems like Ben Affleck requires a lot of support and maintenance, you know, just because he told you that.

[00:17:45]

What, he told you?

[00:17:46]

No, I said it seems, oh, just guessing out there.

[00:17:49]

Just, I mean, just like is the.

[00:17:51]

Model citizen with who has just like really gotten a bad beat by the press. Yeah, they do pick on him.

[00:17:57]

They do pick on them. They do. That makes me sad. You know, who else got picked on? You know who be picking on other people? No. This is actually a really crazy story. And I don't know if anyone else heard this because this is the first time that I'm hearing of it, but this woman in China, she's shopping in the Louis Vuitton store. Okay. And was it Bethany Frankel? It was not, no. I feel like that would have been the first line in the story.

[00:18:25]

Like, I'm going to China to see how they treat me over there.

[00:18:27]

It is giving Barry Bethany Frankel esque, though.

[00:18:30]

But it's kind of iconic. So she, so this, this woman is shopping at Louis Vuitton in China and she's in there and she's shopping around and no one's really giving her like the best attention. They're kind of being rude, you know, I don't have those exact details, but.

[00:18:46]

Small town is China.

[00:18:47]

Well, there wouldn't be really a Louis Vuitton in a small town. Probably. Yeah, it'd be like major cities. So anyways, so they're like showing her stuff from last season. They're not showing her new arrivals. They're like rolling their eyes at her. They appeared impatient when she asked to see dresses. She called the Louis Vuitton headquarters about the situation after she left the store and she was ignored. Okay. So she later returned with her assistant and her friend and she tried on clothes. She told the salesperson, like, we're going to buy these, handed them $110,000 in cash, made them count it. It took them 2 hours and then said, never mind. Took her money and left after they sat there for 2 hours and counted all the money.

[00:19:31]

No. When you're rich, you can afford to be petty. You certainly have the time.

[00:19:34]

Kind of iconic.

[00:19:35]

It is kind of iconic, right?

[00:19:37]

Should we do that when we go into Louis Vuitton this weekend?

[00:19:39]

Well, they didn't do that to us.

[00:19:43]

Birthday joke.

[00:19:44]

Play on words.

[00:19:46]

So wait for your birthday.

[00:19:47]

We can pretend to buy Louie, I don't even sold. No, I don't want, I don't, I don't want. No.

[00:19:52]

I'm also kind of confused because I'm like, it's 2024.

[00:19:54]

That.

[00:19:55]

I'm like, you would think that Louis Vuitton would have one of those, like, you put the cash in and it, like, counts.

[00:19:59]

It counts.

[00:20:00]

But there clearly is something to do with these. They must obviously train their employees to be on a little bit of the standoffish, judgmental side. That must be a bit of a business model. It works though, too, but that's confusing.

[00:20:12]

To me because I feel like any, like, nice hotel or anything that you go to or like a lot of these, like, older, like, directors and things like that. When you see them out, they're wearing, like, crocs.

[00:20:21]

And one of my favorite, favorite things is to go to some kind of fancy hotel or fancy restaurant and be served by a fancy server. And they're very well spoken and meticulous and you feel like this is some first class high society person. And then, yes, to see them after their shift is the. It's the greatest change up of all time. It's like, who is this person who was deserving? Me talking like an elitist and they're in the back alley, like, smoking a cigarette, like, playing like craps, you know, like, you know, it's. It's the biggest, like, fucking, like, turn up of all time or change up.

[00:21:02]

It's because they make commission, right? So it's like they want to get the one person that's gonna give them the biggest commission.

[00:21:07]

What I was saying, though, is that I think that the richest people that are staying at these nice places are typically the ones that don't look like they're not decked out in head to toe Louis Vuitton. They're wearing sweatpants that probably do cost 5000, but they look like they're from Costco. You know what I mean? They're wearing Gucci slides that look like the Adidas.

[00:21:23]

I feel like that's also very much the vibe in LA because it's a lot of, like, young, rich, you know, with influencers, with. Yeah, yeah. With youtubers, with whatever. And I feel like, yeah, they're not dressing in a suit, a pantsuit to, like, go shopping on rodeo.

[00:21:38]

Well, it's like the influencer situation to where it's like them dressing up and had to. To couture and it's like. But you live in an apartment, like, why are you trying to put out this idea of this is what it means to be wealthy when, like, that is not how wealthy people operate.

[00:21:51]

No. And also, you can only wear it one time, so don't buy it.

[00:21:55]

Rent the Runway.

[00:21:57]

Nick did tell me this situation is giving pretty woman. And I responded saying, I don't know what she looks like.

[00:22:02]

I go, pretty woman. He goes, I don't know what she looks like.

[00:22:06]

But I get the reference. I just didn't get it at the moment.

[00:22:08]

Have you seen the mistake?

[00:22:09]

No, but I've seen the big mistake scene.

[00:22:11]

Huge.

[00:22:11]

I was told pretty woman was not appropriate for me when I was little.

[00:22:14]

She's a woman of the night.

[00:22:15]

Young child. Maybe it's not appropriate. I believe it is rated r, restricted for.

[00:22:19]

I watch that shit all the time. When I was seven.

[00:22:21]

Mm hmm.

[00:22:22]

When I was seven.

[00:22:24]

It holds up.

[00:22:25]

No, for sure.

[00:22:26]

It's a great rom.com.

[00:22:27]

Fantastic movie.

[00:22:27]

I love you. Like, no, for sure.

[00:22:29]

Well, I've seen the clip. I get the whole, like, huge mistake thing.

[00:22:32]

He's like, I get it.

[00:22:33]

Okay.

[00:22:33]

I think you might, like, love it.

[00:22:35]

I think you would too.

[00:22:36]

I've seen the clip of her walking out with all the bags. That's pretty iconic.

[00:22:39]

But it's also just a great love story.

[00:22:41]

We can recap it next episode.

[00:22:42]

You don't want to watch it?

[00:22:43]

No, I'll watch it. I did see rush hour for the first time this weekend.

[00:22:46]

I. Yep. You said that, like, five times this morning. As if we were supposed to care.

[00:22:50]

What is rush hour?

[00:22:52]

Before I watched it, everybody was like, you need to watch this. How have you lived 23 years without watching?

[00:22:56]

I still haven't seen it.

[00:22:58]

Like, all of us here or just, like, people?

[00:22:59]

Like, people on your family? In my family, my friends.

[00:23:04]

Okay.

[00:23:05]

Anyways, I thought it was bigger.

[00:23:06]

Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, I think.

[00:23:09]

So we watched a movie. We were like, we did something we never do, where you just, like, click the first movie you see, and it was like, watch.

[00:23:17]

Yeah. You find something you've never heard of.

[00:23:19]

What was it?

[00:23:20]

It was a memory. It was a something by Liam Neison.

[00:23:24]

It was a Liam Neeson 2023 movie. You know, very taken esque. He's a. He's an assassin. You know, it was good, but it was like, yeah, it was exactly what you wanted it to be. It was just. I had a little bit of action. Good enough acting.

[00:23:37]

Keep you engaged.

[00:23:38]

Keeps you engaged. And you were satisfied at the end.

[00:23:41]

Good for Liam Neeson 2023.

[00:23:43]

His character ended up doing the right thing, and we love that for him. Yeah.

[00:23:47]

Speaking of not doing the right thing, we've got dance, a new era drama. Apparently, the dance coach, Gloria Hampton, assigned a student a dance solo inspired by the tragedy, based around JonBenet Ramsay. Backlash amongst the audience called it disrespectful. Hampton told the eleven year old student that she would portray Ramsay in a routine, had her go home, watch documentaries, come up with a backstory to then what portray being strangled on.

[00:24:18]

So her dance routine is her like, kind of like holding her neck and like acting like she's being strangled.

[00:24:22]

Terrible. Natalie didn't know who JonBenet Ramsey was as of last week because we just got into the Scott Peterson murder trial. Documentaries that are now on Peacock and Netflix, which, by the way, we will be discussing next week on reality recap day after Labor Day. For anyone who's not watching this, go ahead and tune in. There's one on Peacock. There's one on Netflix. We watched both. The one on Peacock gives you more information. You should watch them both.

[00:24:51]

One's from Peterson's family's perspective. Right? And then the other one is based.

[00:24:55]

Off of, well, one is Peterson's family is involved.

[00:24:58]

That's Peacock.

[00:24:59]

That's Netflix. No, no, I'm sorry.

[00:25:01]

It's Peacock.

[00:25:02]

Lacy.

[00:25:02]

Ooh, child.

[00:25:03]

Lacy's family is involved in the next flicks. One. And Scott's family seems to be more involved. Peacock and Peacock. Watch them both. Anyways, we'll discuss them both. Did Scott do it? Very polarizing stuff. Anyways, in that conversation, I had to explain to Natalie who JonBenet Ramsay was.

[00:25:18]

Well, true story. I did pageants as a child. So this rocked my grandmother's world when this came out. Because it was dance moms. No, the Jonbenet Ramsay tragedy because she was a pageant child. Anyways. No, it's actually really tragic because nobody knew what had happened to her. I, and then it was, did the parents do it? Was it a crazed, obsessed fan from pageants? Really sickening. So the idea that this coach would make an eleven year old who has no concept of probably murder, let alone of what happened, and make her ingest all of this information and traumatize this child for a dance.

[00:25:57]

In the episode, the dancer, the eleven year old, she was like, wait, she died? Wait, she was strangled? As her mom's showing her the details.

[00:26:04]

And it's like, oh yeah, that feels a little icky. I don't know. I'm honestly shocked that this show got a reboot.

[00:26:13]

Truly.

[00:26:13]

That's what I'm thinking, too.

[00:26:14]

Sorry. But like, sorry, Abby le Miller.

[00:26:16]

Ugh.

[00:26:17]

And I know Jojo sticks up for her in the sense that she's like, all dance teachers are like this, which I took ballet when I was like, I don't know, three so I don't remember. But the way. I mean, having it documented in the way Abby Lee Miller did speak to these kids, I truly am shocked that this show got a reboot. And then for the reboot to immediately come out with this, it's like, yep, we didn't need that.

[00:26:38]

She's trying to be as problematic as.

[00:26:40]

Abby and, like, why we don't need that.

[00:26:42]

Switch it up to children for children.

[00:26:44]

Exactly.

[00:26:45]

Are people thinking that this is, like, powerful and, like.

[00:26:48]

Well, so that's the thing, because, I mean, in the original dance moms, they did, like, a Lizzie Borden, like, dance routine, and that was considered kind of powerful at the time. But now this is, like, is murder, like, off the table, or is this.

[00:26:59]

Yep. Yeah.

[00:27:00]

Which I think it should be as well.

[00:27:01]

Yeah, yeah. I think any. Anything. Any crime is off the table for.

[00:27:08]

Sure for a little kid to be portraying as well.

[00:27:11]

Oh, my God. Talk about getting. Giving a kid unnecessary trauma.

[00:27:14]

A thousand percent.

[00:27:15]

Oh, she died. How did she die? Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Like, scared the shit out of any kid.

[00:27:21]

New fear unlocked.

[00:27:22]

Yeah.

[00:27:23]

Dance moms was my initial segue into reality tv, though. Like, that was the first reality tv that I watched from, like, start to finish, the same.

[00:27:30]

And, like, my niece Scarlett, she watches it, and it's like, you know, I think she watches it because the girls do dances and she likes to learn the dances. I don't think she watches it because she likes Abby Lee Miller. I think Abby scares her, but, yeah, it's also sad for, like, the kids who are watching it now. They are aware of this story that should never be aware of.

[00:27:52]

Did you ever see, Sarah, that Abby Lee was trying to get on Beverly Hills housewives? It was, like, two seasons ago. She was trying. She was, like, doing a lot of publicity on her own to try to, like, make it seem like she was joining the cast. Like, I think it was, like, self promotion is what she was trying to do, is.

[00:28:06]

Abby Lee's dance academy isn't even here.

[00:28:08]

It's still in LA.

[00:28:09]

It is.

[00:28:09]

There's one. Yeah.

[00:28:10]

Oh, yeah. Okay. I didn't know that she lived here, so. Yeah, no, I didn't know this.

[00:28:14]

Please. Like, Dorit and Abby Lee Miller. Like, I just don't.

[00:28:19]

That's the thing. It was.

[00:28:19]

What pajamas are you wearing on your flight, Abby Lee?

[00:28:23]

I'm infinity.

[00:28:24]

It's like, your accent's fake. Nobody likes you. Bottom of the pyramid.

[00:28:28]

Bottom of the pyramid.

[00:28:30]

Definitely be calling out some housewives. She would have. If she can talk that way to.

[00:28:35]

Children, that's what I said. I was like, I could see it for adults. I don't see it for children.

[00:28:41]

Yeah, that's crazy.

[00:28:42]

I did almost go to Kathy Hilton's estate sale this weekend. Like, out of nowhere. Out of nowhere. She posted. Well, actually, Denise posted it. This is where I saw it. You could buy tickets through eventbrite to go to her house Saturday and Sunday for dollar 25 for charity. And basically, it's her actual house. And, like, all of her, like, old belongings, like, iconic outfits, dinnerware, everything just laying out.

[00:29:03]

And, like, we thought of this.

[00:29:04]

Why was she doing an estate just for charity?

[00:29:06]

I think. But then, like, people bought, like, Paris is allegedly Paris's birthday dress. That's iconic with the chains. Like, you could go around and find, like, matching pea suits.

[00:29:14]

Like, I feel like if I'm Paris, I'm pissed. My mom put that in her state sale.

[00:29:18]

That's what I thought. And then I was like, maybe it's fake.

[00:29:20]

Or maybe Paris is like, I don't even know what.

[00:29:22]

I have no Paris. She has a daughter now. Right?

[00:29:25]

She probably has other outfits.

[00:29:27]

Yeah, but it's like, I get the.

[00:29:28]

Impression that Paris Hilton didn't have a lot of, like, repeat outfits.

[00:29:32]

No, exactly. That's why you would keep your, like, iconic ones to, like, have your daughter wear one day.

[00:29:38]

But it's Paris Hilton. Maybe they're all iconic. Maybe this was just, like, the one she wouldn't wear.

[00:29:44]

That's true. I guess I'm thinking of who was the mom recently who had her. Both of her daughters wear her, like, oldenhouse iconic red carpet dresses. They were all together on a red carpet.

[00:29:57]

Lisa Rena.

[00:29:58]

Lisa Rena did this a couple years ago. Jessica Alba.

[00:30:01]

Jessica Alba. Thank you.

[00:30:03]

Okay.

[00:30:04]

I'm Algarion.

[00:30:05]

She had iconic outfits.

[00:30:06]

Well, I don't know if they were iconic, but they were just something that she did where there was photos of her and them on red carpets and then her daughter wearing them on a red carpet. Like, it's, you know, like a look back. It's pretty cool. I don't know.

[00:30:18]

Here's a fun one. Did you see that? A youtuber created a fake five star ramen restaurant with cheap instant ramen, and people went crazy. And basically what happened was, in Sydney, Australia, he named a restaurant, a fake restaurant, Nisei ramen, which translates into fake ramen. And he started posting videos on, like, TikTok. It went viral, so people started to want to come, and he only let in people that had 100 plus thousand followers. And then everybody else had to wait outside.

[00:30:44]

It's giving la.

[00:30:46]

It's giving la. But basically. So the lines were long. People were waiting hours to get in, and people started, like, essentially being like, I would come again. This is like home cooked meals. I would pay $50 per bowl.

[00:30:58]

And when we're talking, like, instant cup of noodles. Yes. Yes.

[00:31:03]

Did he add anything to it or.

[00:31:04]

No, probably not.

[00:31:05]

He just put it in, like, a pretty bowl.

[00:31:07]

They served them in planters. Like, what? You put your plants in, like, a little pot, like that. They served them in these little plastic planters.

[00:31:14]

Hot take. If you are willing to wait in a line, I guess, of any kind, certainly for a product, Thanksgiving, next day, Black Friday, whatever. Outside of a club, some new hit restaurant, some sort of trendy dessert place, like, that's entirely on you. You don't get to complain about, you know, favors to other people if you like. Yeah, it just. If you really want to. If you don't want to wait in line, get out of the line.

[00:31:41]

Yeah, I agree. Because the question is, is this a scam or was it just good marketing?

[00:31:45]

This. Are people being she. If you're waiting in line like that, you're a sheep. Sheep. You have sheep mentality. You're hurt. You know, you just, like, following the crowd. But we all know that this is fake ramen. We all know.

[00:31:56]

Yeah, like, but did we all know or do we only know now?

[00:31:59]

We know now, but I am just simply saying, like, the point is, it's like, whether it's the nightclub or you see people standing outside and it's the word of mouth. Yeah, yeah.

[00:32:08]

That's like.

[00:32:09]

And you. And, like, and you need to have it so that you can talk about it with your friends because it's the viral thing. Like, then, you know, shut the fuck up and stay in line. Shut the fuck up and be in line. Otherwise, I don't care. You don't get to complain about how fast the line moves. That's just my take. I'll shut the fuck up.

[00:32:24]

It's a little bit of a harsh take.

[00:32:25]

It is harsh. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, no, definitely harsh.

[00:32:28]

A little aggressive and harsh. But I do think that people stand by. I do think that. That places, like, we'll go if, say we're in New York and we'll go to, I don't know, Dior or something, and they're like, oh, it's. Sorry, you need to stand outside. I'm not. I'm leaving. Like, I know you're only doing this so that it looks so busy that people have to come and get in line. Like, I know it's a mind game to other people, and we all leave. And I'm nine times out of ten not gonna buy anything. So it's like, I'm not gonna stand here for you to just, like, get more customers, so.

[00:32:59]

No, that's true. I. Do you remember the show Mythbusters?

[00:33:02]

Duh.

[00:33:02]

Okay. So there was an episode where they pulled that experiment where they had just, like, a queue set up in the middle of, like, downtown old town Las Vegas. And it was a line to nowhere, but just had, like, the dividers there and people and, like, two paid actors standing in line. And, like, the line would just grow, and nobody would be like, hey, what are you waiting in line for? We're not really sure. Oh, okay. I'm gonna get in line.

[00:33:22]

It's crazy.

[00:33:22]

They've done this. Like, there's a show called Penn and Teller's bullshit that was about, like, just.

[00:33:26]

The card guys, right?

[00:33:27]

Yeah. Yeah. And they did a whole episode on fine dining, and so they did, like, tv dinners, water from a hose, all this crazy shit. But, you know, they presented it in a, like, a fine dining experience. And, like, all the people are like, oh, my God, this is, like, the most amazing meal. And they would talk about all the, like, the tastes that they were, like, experiencing on their tongues. And it was like a tv fucking dinner. And I was like, water from a hose, you know, and it's just like, yeah, I mean, we.

[00:33:53]

Cup of noodles.

[00:33:54]

And if you are that person, you know, and you want to talk about it, like, yeah, you're doing it so.

[00:33:59]

That you can brag about doing it. Yeah, I agree with you.

[00:34:02]

You did just make me think of, there's a restaurant in Vegas where there's no lights. Like, it's dark in the restaurant. You literally can't see anything. And you sign, like, the waiver being like, oh, whatever high class meal they gave me.

[00:34:11]

Nope.

[00:34:11]

And you don't know what you're eating, but they just keep bringing out plates. And you just eat it.

[00:34:16]

No.

[00:34:16]

Could be fun, though.

[00:34:17]

I'm worried about textures.

[00:34:18]

I need to know, like, spice it up. Just eat something.

[00:34:22]

Different ways explorer.

[00:34:23]

They gave you a sock.

[00:34:24]

Well, they're not gonna give you a.

[00:34:25]

Sock, but what if they did? You would know it's dark.

[00:34:27]

I bagoon anything. I think rich people eat this.

[00:34:31]

Are you. Are you one of those adventurous eaters?

[00:34:35]

I would think so, yeah. As long as it's not a hot sauce, I can eat it.

[00:34:38]

Okay. Yeah. Any type of insect.

[00:34:40]

I have eaten a cricket covered in chocolate.

[00:34:43]

Any type of anatomy covered in chocolate is crazy. Like, any type of anatomy of any type of animal.

[00:34:49]

He just said he ate a cricket.

[00:34:50]

No.

[00:34:51]

Yeah, well, anatomy is great.

[00:34:52]

I could eat a cricket.

[00:34:53]

You mean, like.

[00:34:53]

Like, I don't want to eat a cricket. But if, like, someone was like, here's a cricket. Chomp, chomp, chomp. Swallow. No big deal. Like a pair of, like, sheep balls. Different experience.

[00:35:02]

If I was in someone's house and a grandma handed me that, I would take a spoonful and be done.

[00:35:06]

You would?

[00:35:07]

To be respectful.

[00:35:09]

That is admirable of you.

[00:35:11]

That is.

[00:35:11]

I could never.

[00:35:12]

I try everything.

[00:35:13]

I'll try everything.

[00:35:14]

Oh, my God, I'm so jealous.

[00:35:16]

There's certain things that I like will absolutely not do. Like, Connor will eat anything genuinely. I mean, I guess, like, more adventurous, but, like, probably not for most people. I've done chicken hearts and, like, chicken livers.

[00:35:26]

Okay.

[00:35:27]

I don't like the livers, but I do like the heart.

[00:35:29]

I feel like I'm okay, but not.

[00:35:31]

Good with the brain.

[00:35:31]

Why not, though?

[00:35:32]

I feel like I don't. I can leave this earth and be like, you know what? I never had chicken brain. And be like, I think I'm okay.

[00:35:39]

Because if it doesn't, like, save my life or offer some sort of, like, remarkable cure of some sort of ailment, then, yeah, what's the fucking point? It's not good.

[00:35:49]

In my head, I'm like, a whole culture will, like, celebrate this food. Like, I might as well just see what that is. You know?

[00:35:54]

I don't need to be known as the most cultured person, you know? Like, I. Touche. I'll take a little culture.

[00:36:00]

Okay. I want to avoid, like, a sprinkle of culture, perhaps.

[00:36:03]

Yeah. I want to avoid claims of ignorance and things like that. You know, enough to be dangerous. Be like, you know, but I don't need to be like, oh, I've been this and I've eaten that. I will say the crazy about this.

[00:36:12]

The cricket thing is common, is it not?

[00:36:13]

I feel like there are. There's a lot of, like, chocolate covered.

[00:36:16]

Yeah.

[00:36:16]

This and chocolate covered that.

[00:36:18]

I think, like, crickets are the gateway to adventurous eating.

[00:36:20]

Yeah. I'll also sit that one out on.

[00:36:24]

The flip side, did you see that Brittany cart rebranded Jax's bar to Britt's bar for a day?

[00:36:28]

Yeah.

[00:36:28]

And I see people are up in fucking arms about it. Oh, people are like, this is so disrespectful. This is so fucked up because Jax.

[00:36:35]

Is dealing with this. It's a kick in the balls to Jax for sure.

[00:36:39]

Is it? I feel like it's just a fun game. Like, it's not that deep.

[00:36:41]

That's what I thought.

[00:36:42]

I agree. Like, she's going through a hard time and her friends set it up. But I'm also kind of like, it's just the, it's so interesting to me to watch public opinion just sway so casually. Like everybody's like, he's an awful husband, he's a awful dad. Da da da. And then all of a sudden he checks into a facility to get help, which, great. But Britney's friends do something to like uplift her spirits and now she's the asshole.

[00:37:05]

They duct tape a piece of paper to his sign for a day.

[00:37:10]

For a day.

[00:37:12]

She also said it's just for fun in the caption.

[00:37:14]

It's screaming just for fun.

[00:37:16]

All of it.

[00:37:16]

If she like, full on took down Jax's bar and rebranded the entire thing, like, for good, that's fucked up.

[00:37:24]

True.

[00:37:24]

Zack posted about it and I screenshot it. Hi, Zach. He said for any people that are trying to say shit about when we turn Jax's bar in a Brits bar the other night, here's my response. I did this, I came up with it. We wanted to make her feel special for a night. When she's going through so much, her priorities cruise every moment of every day. My priority is to make sure my best friend makes it through this tumultuous time in her life while being fully supported and uplifted. That's what this night was about. So y'all can say what you want, but you know nothing about what is going on. So please stop bringing Britney into your hateful comments and direct them towards me. Thank you.

[00:37:55]

Right.

[00:37:56]

I mean, listen, I hope Jax Taylor gets the help that he needs.

[00:37:59]

Absolutely.

[00:38:00]

I'm glad that he, well, I hope that again. And it hate to say, but with Jax Taylor, we just never, you never know what's real or whatever is sincere. And that's, that's a decade of behavior that has led many people to that conclusion. But we are glad that Jax Taylor seems to me is doing something about it. But to Zach's point, it's just like you don't really know what's going on in their life. This is about Brittany. Not necessarily Jax and I don't think Jax is like, gets the benefit of the doubt of like, you know, the world needs to stop because all of a sudden Jax Taylor is going through it or, you know, like he's so many people's lives.

[00:38:37]

Yeah.

[00:38:38]

Including his wife.

[00:38:39]

Yeah.

[00:38:40]

And put her in such a terrible position on television. Yeah.

[00:38:44]

Through her under the bus. And also painted her to be an alcoholic with a problem. Like, you know what I mean? Like, that and a bad mom.

[00:38:51]

To my knowledge, they didn't change the sign of the bar and then FaceTime Jax and send him a video in treatment while trolling him. This wasn't really about Jax.

[00:39:02]

No, it was about Britney, which I think she deserves to be uplifted.

[00:39:07]

Yeah.

[00:39:08]

She's had a rough go at a year.

[00:39:09]

No, it just, it seems like there's always seems to be these things.

[00:39:16]

I just feel like sometimes it's just like people finding anything to be offended by or, like, where I'm just like, you don't even like Jack, so why are you coming at Britney?

[00:39:23]

Like, because they just have to say something, which is always ridiculous. I remember I talked about the TikTok drama, the Halle Sofia. I saw a girl post and she was like, this is all my for you pages right now. And it's influencer after influencer after influencer saying, I usually don't get into drama. I usually never say anything. I'm not one to talk on drama. And then it's like, literally every single video on everyone's for you page is like, influencers starting at starting the sentence and talking about drama. And it's like, people just love to.

[00:39:50]

We talk about drama every week.

[00:39:51]

We do.

[00:39:51]

Yeah, it's all a bit, but this.

[00:39:54]

Is all a bit. This is all a stand up comedy show. None of this is serious. None of this is serious. Don't take it serious.

[00:40:00]

Well, speaking of taking it serious, I love how we always say speaking of.

[00:40:04]

Or on the other hand.

[00:40:05]

[00:42:04]

There's a lot of decisions you have to make when you have a baby, and the one that I feel the most comfortable and safe making is using huggies for our daughter, River. I always tell Nick that when rivers crying, she's trying to tell us something, and that's the case with most babies. They express it through cries. And so we've turned to huggies. The new huggy skin essentials are here. A brand new dermatologist approved line of diapers, wipes and pull ups, training pants that are all designed with baby sensitive skin in mind.

[00:42:27]

Their wipes are so thick and ph balanced to help maintain healthy skin. Their wipes have zero harsh ingredients for a great gentle clean.

[00:42:35]

The skin essential diapers features a skin protect liner, which is what helps take care of the ick and stick that can cause Rashida. They have this liner built in their diapers.

[00:42:43]

The whole diaper helps protect against the top two causes of rash by managing moisture and running mess. The liner gives you the barrier to help absorb moisture and lock away runny mess from baby skin pulp. Skin essentials has your big kid covered, too with a training pant that is ultra soft and breathable to help protect sensitive skin through potty training.

[00:43:06]

All right, we're backstage with Kane Brown on his in the air tour. Kane, welcome to the vial files.

[00:43:11]

We're big fans.

[00:43:13]

Oh, thank you.

[00:43:13]

Oh, my gosh, we're so excited. We saw you at stagecoach two years ago. It was his first country.

[00:43:18]

Stagecoach.

[00:43:19]

Nice.

[00:43:19]

You really got me into country music.

[00:43:21]

Oh, hey, captain, I appreciate you.

[00:43:23]

Where you're from? Georgia?

[00:43:24]

Yeah.

[00:43:25]

Where in Georgia?

[00:43:25]

Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.

[00:43:27]

Okay. I'm from Savannah.

[00:43:28]

Okay.

[00:43:28]

You're like 8 hours.

[00:43:29]

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, cool. Awesome. We have a six month old daughter.

[00:43:35]

Congratulations.

[00:43:36]

Congratulations to you.

[00:43:38]

Thank you.

[00:43:38]

You just had a new baby, didn't you?

[00:43:39]

Yeah. Two months old.

[00:43:41]

Three months old. Wow.

[00:43:42]

Congratulations. That's amazing.

[00:43:43]

Thank you. What has it been like to, I guess, be a girl dad in the beginning? We're starting out with a girl dad every year. So what's it like?

[00:43:50]

It was terrifying at the beginning. Yeah. Yeah. You know, it's girls versus guys.

[00:43:55]

Did you kind of hold it like being a first dad? Was there, was there other, like, oh, I kind of want to get the son out of the way. And then you had the girl.

[00:44:01]

I mean, I feel like every guy wants a son. I did want a son. And then. But I will say, once I have my daughter, Kingsley, it's all changed. I couldn't, couldn't see my life without her.

[00:44:10]

Same experience. I said to Natalie, like, after we had river, I was like, I know I wanted a boy, but I couldn't imagine having anything other than river. And so it's such a great, great experience. What's like the most meaningful thing to you about being a, being a dad?

[00:44:23]

I was talking about this the other day. I can't, I'm really excited for, or to see where they go in life, but I was also, I'm really excited just to give them a life that I never had and just to be a role model to them. It's like the best thing. They look up to me and I love every minute of it.

[00:44:41]

Yeah.

[00:44:42]

And I get to relive my childhood through them.

[00:44:44]

That is the best part.

[00:44:45]

Playing hide and seek again, playing tag.

[00:44:48]

Doing whatever, showing them, like the shows that you watched growing up.

[00:44:51]

I try. They don't really like. They do like the old Tarzan. That's the one I have got them to watch.

[00:44:57]

Yeah. You have collaborated with so many artists. I feel like you are all over the board with your range. Has there been someone that maybe you is like a dream collab or have you already reached that?

[00:45:10]

Not really. For me, it's like the songs have to make sense, so if I do a song, it'll just hit me. I'll be like, hey, I could hear so and so on this song, and then we'll reach out and they either say yes or no.

[00:45:20]

That's awesome.

[00:45:21]

My favorite collab for you is the one you have with your wife.

[00:45:24]

Oh, yeah.

[00:45:25]

Like, you know, Natalie, you know, when we got together, I had this show, and then she kind of came on. And I'm a big believer that, like, couples who play together stay together because you kind of stay more connected. Like, what was that experience like? I mean, your wife has a beautiful voice. Like, do you plan on doing more collabs with her and.

[00:45:40]

Yeah.

[00:45:40]

Does that help you guys stay, like, closer together as you work together?

[00:45:43]

Yeah. We have two new songs on my new album coming out. One's like country and one that's super pop. That's really. I'm really excited about both of them. And, yeah, it's awesome to work with her because you have somebody. Like, I've done features with other girls, but, like, you can't, especially me being married. Like, I can't act like I'm in.

[00:46:02]

Love with this girl for sure.

[00:46:03]

My wife is easy.

[00:46:04]

That's great.

[00:46:05]

So it's just there's a connection on there that's not happen to be faked. And I think that's what made that song so big for us. Not only her beautiful voice, but just a connection, and people can really tell.

[00:46:16]

Did you always know she could sing?

[00:46:18]

Yes. When she first came in. First came in? When she first got to Nashville, we knew each other through the same producer, so she used to be managed by Johnny Wright, which is like.

[00:46:31]

Crazy manager.

[00:46:33]

That's. That's incredible. I've done a, you know, since being a new dad. I love it. I've embraced it, but I've had some kind of, like, dumb dad moments. Like we were when I first found out gonna be a dad, I was gonna be a girl dad. We went to this baby store and I picked out, like, this outfit that, like, Natalie gave me some shit about. Cuz it was like, apparently for a.

[00:46:48]

Little boy, looks like a grandpa.

[00:46:50]

Yeah. I was wondering if you had any kind of like, bonehead, you know, like, I can't believe I, like, I thought this, you know, being a dad for the first time and you kind of like laughed at yourself or your wife gave you a hard time.

[00:47:03]

No. So I will say for me, so my family, I'm not, but my wife and my girls and my son's going to be. They're all healthy eaters.

[00:47:13]

Okay.

[00:47:13]

And my daughters have allergies, so they're gluten and dairy free. And I will tell you, like, when I try to, I come off the road and I try to give one of my kids a snack, and then you have a four year old telling you, these aren't gluten dairy free. I'm so dumb.

[00:47:31]

I'm so sorry.

[00:47:35]

It really humbles you when your kids check you. I imagine what's been the most fun stage as you're, like, as my daughter gets older, I'm trying to enjoy every moment, but there's kind of different stages. River's still pretty young, but other stages you've enjoyed more than others. And what do I have to look forward to?

[00:47:53]

No, because right now I'm at a stage where every, like, this is your only baby.

[00:47:57]

Yeah, it's our first.

[00:47:58]

Yeah. So you'll, you'll get to just see them change and their personality. I'm sure she's already smiling and laughing and stuff. Those were like my favorite. And then whenever she starts walking and you can chase her, and then she really starts laughing.

[00:48:11]

Oh.

[00:48:11]

Like, it's just, it keeps getting better. And then now Kingsley's four. She's very mature for age, about to be five. So I can't wait to see that maturity level change. And they're super funny too. My middle one, she's Cody, she's a comedian.

[00:48:26]

Where does she get that from? You or Caitlin?

[00:48:28]

I think it's funny, a middle child. The other day, they're telling me a story. I've been home in twelve days. It was supposed to be like movie nap time, where they just have to chill out for like an hour or 2 hours. And Kingsley start, my oldest started pitching a fit. And Cody, she comes out of the room and she goes, sissy, we just talked about this. She's only two. We just talked about this. And she rolled her eyes.

[00:48:53]

She's like annoying with her already.

[00:48:54]

That's crazy. Well, we have this game for you, we want to play with you. Last question before we play it, though. Do you have any like pre show rituals that like you always do before you go on stage that, like, just kind of keeps you ready and focused for the show.

[00:49:08]

Usually just jam music, play Xbox. Beating my friends.

[00:49:13]

What's your game on? Xbox.

[00:49:14]

Xbox? Probably two k or football.

[00:49:16]

Okay.

[00:49:16]

And then water pong.

[00:49:19]

Who's your team on football?

[00:49:21]

Football? Like, college?

[00:49:23]

Yeah. What? We. Georgia? Yeah, I. Babe. All right, so here's the simple dad questions.

[00:49:29]

Like, yeah.

[00:49:30]

And we'll answer them in terms of, like, oh, fun. Little fun dad things we've done.

[00:49:37]

Can I pick a fun one?

[00:49:38]

Pick whatever you want.

[00:49:40]

Okay, great. What movie are you most excited to show your kids when they're older?

[00:49:44]

I can't wait to watch horror movies with my kids.

[00:49:47]

Stop.

[00:49:48]

Do you think they'll like it, or do you think they'll be scared?

[00:49:50]

Well, we already play, like, monsters and stuff, and they run. And I will say, my middle child, she does get a little scared, but I think my oldest will love them.

[00:49:58]

I feel like, for me, like, old comedies I used to love, like, what about Bob? Or dumb. Or dumber that I grew up on. I want to see if, like, they'll like the stuff that I. That I laugh about.

[00:50:07]

How much money do you give your kids for the tooth fairy? Does a tooth fairy give your kids.

[00:50:11]

Well, that would be my wife's question. My wife is the tooth fairy, but I used to get, like, $10. Yeah, that's what I was.

[00:50:19]

Pretty good. That's pretty good. I remember my cousin, she got an alarm clock, and we're always like, sorry. Yeah. She was so jealous of us.

[00:50:29]

Would you rather take your family on a camping trip or to Disney World?

[00:50:32]

So, I've always talked about going camping. Cause I grew up camping all the time with my pop. Yeah, we'd always go to the Koa campsite. I remember our car catching on fire there. All kinds of things. Yeah. A lot of memories. But we go to Disney World, like, every year for my oldest daughter's birthday.

[00:50:47]

Okay, I think I'm gonna go camping just because I think you can teach your kids.

[00:50:51]

You also hate being.

[00:50:52]

I hate amusement parks. Like, I don't want to wait in line or whatever, so I think I'm gonna get someone else to take my kids to amusement parks. I don't know.

[00:50:59]

I have so much fun, though, man. Especially, like, my oldest, she's just now where she can ride roller coasters. Her face on a roller coaster for the first time. She couldn't stop laughing.

[00:51:08]

That's a question I have for you. What? Like, what have, like, as your kids gotten older, have there been things, like, for me, I'm not an amusement park fan, but think, like, have your kids, like, shown you something that you've really enjoyed. Now that you've gotten. Your kids have gotten older, they've enjoyed it. And you've been surprised that you've gotten into it because of your kids?

[00:51:25]

Not yet. So I did go to my daughter's dance recital, which I thought was actually kind of awesome. I didn't want to go. I've never been in. I mean, I, like, danced on MySpace. Yeah.

[00:51:40]

Rank your friends like, I'm mad at you this weekend.

[00:51:43]

But I went to her recital, and it was the cutest thing. And I was like, I could do this. And then my wife was big in gymnastics, and so that's what Kingsley's in. And she. She's acting like she loves that. Yeah, she's acting like she likes it. I'm waiting to see what other sport she wants to play, though.

[00:52:01]

Okay, what did you play? Did you play any when you ball?

[00:52:04]

Basketball, baseball and ranch track.

[00:52:05]

Oh, yeah? What events? In track.

[00:52:08]

I just did the relay.

[00:52:10]

Okay. The relay.

[00:52:14]

Champion in Wisconsin for track.

[00:52:16]

So she embarrasses me every time he says that. I didn't peak in high school. Kane, I know you have to get going, but we really appreciate your time. Excited for the show. It's been such an honor interviewing you. Like I said, you got me into country music. I really appreciate, love your music and can't wait to see the show tonight.

[00:52:33]

Yes, sir. Thanks for having me.

[00:52:34]

Thanks for coming. So much fun.

[00:52:37]

No, that was so much fun. Honestly, that was crazy for me. I've been a fan of Kane for a really long time, so that was really cool to sit and chat with him.

[00:52:44]

And he came in very cool, very intimidating, very rock star ish. Warmed up real quick. Quick.

[00:52:49]

Yeah, yeah.

[00:52:50]

And then, like, when we were done after the show, we were like, talking like friends for like a good two minutes before we said goodbye. And as if, like, maybe we'll, like, hang out someday or not. I don't know. We like to think that we were friends anyways, Rachel Platt and everybody. All right, home chefs out there. Are you cooking with Caraway? Well, if not, what the heck are you doing? Oh, man.

[00:56:32]

Welcome back.

[00:56:33]

It's so nice to see you again.

[00:56:35]

So nice to see you.

[00:56:35]

It's so nice to meet your wife.

[00:56:37]

Such a delightful time. The first time on the show, it was really fun.

[00:56:40]

She was just telling me that her daughter woke up at 02:00 a.m. and said what?

[00:56:46]

She said, mommy, I'm not tired at all. I was like, oh, my God. What?

[00:56:53]

Do you.

[00:56:53]

Do you have to go back to bed?

[00:56:54]

Do you just, like, get up and play, or do you.

[00:56:56]

Can I be completely honest? Please. My husband takes care of it.

[00:56:58]

That's great.

[00:56:59]

That's what I have to do. In the middle of the night.

[00:57:02]

It's a dad thing. It's like, I don't know. He's just better at getting back to sleep.

[00:57:05]

Rachel, we did enough.

[00:57:06]

We've done enough.

[00:57:07]

Truly. I'm still exhausted from the nine months.

[00:57:11]

For the labor and delivery, 100%.

[00:57:13]

Come on, get up. In the middle of the night?

[00:57:14]

Yeah. Kevin does it all. I mean, in the middle of the night, that's all his territory. So me pretending that I arrived here tired because of that is a lie. It's a lie. I went right back to sleep.

[00:57:25]

It's literally me. I'll be. I'll be like, oh, my God. River did not sleep at all last night. Nick was with her the whole time. Like, oh, I just did not sleep.

[00:57:32]

I mean, I was woken up, surely.

[00:57:34]

No, I heard her on the monitor, and I wasn't.

[00:57:36]

That wasn't lovely. I wasn't, like, at a hotel spa. Exactly.

[00:57:40]

You're heroes. You guys are heroes. Honestly. Thank you so much. Thank you, moms. You guys do so much.

[00:57:45]

Thank you.

[00:57:46]

Yeah.

[00:57:46]

How have you been?

[00:57:47]

I mean, it's such a loaded question. I think I'm amazing right now. I feel incredible. I haven't been great leading up to this, but now I feel like I've come through a really hard time, and I've better. I'm better than ever. So it's kind of like a question.

[00:58:03]

Do you want to talk about.

[00:58:04]

No. I mean, no. I want to talk about tv. I was deeply depressed.

[00:58:10]

We can get you on the couch.

[00:58:13]

How do you feel? Yeah, I'm really good now.

[00:58:15]

How did you work? We don't have to get into it, but what was one or two things that really helped kind of get you through the darker times?

[00:58:23]

Well, thank you for asking. Mainly your essential oils, but hell, yeah. I actually really shout out, but no. You know, I had an amazing therapist. I have an amazing therapist. Yep.

[00:58:34]

Rest in peace.

[00:58:37]

She was woken up last night. I have an amazing therapist. I have an amazing team, you know, started to just look at all the stuff that we keep down, you know, that was coming up in therapy and coming up through chronic pain and coming up through anxiety and all the different ways my nervous system was trying to alert me that, like, the bottled up stuff wasn't good. And I looked at it, and I uncovered it, and I had. Medication helped me, and I was resistant to that, and, you know, just an SSL. And then I have incredible friends and my husband, and then, honestly, the biggest thing that got me through it was songwriting, and I made this album.

[00:59:15]

Congratulations, by the way.

[00:59:16]

Thank you. I'm sure we'll talk about it, but I.

[00:59:18]

We don't want to talk about it.

[00:59:19]

We don't have to.

[00:59:19]

I just want to talk about it.

[00:59:20]

Out September 3 out September 3.

[00:59:23]

I am Rachel platin.

[00:59:24]

That's exactly right, Nick.

[00:59:25]

Absolutely. What a great name, though.

[00:59:28]

Thank you.

[00:59:29]

It is. It's powerful. It's like, I am Rachel platin.

[00:59:32]

Yes, Natalie. That's it.

[00:59:34]

Yes.

[00:59:35]

You know, the reason I titled it that is because I feel like the world knew one side of me. They knew fightsong and stand by you and better place. A lot of these, like, empowering, sweet songs.

[00:59:49]

High energy.

[00:59:49]

High energy. Yeah. And after I became a mom, somewhere around turning 40, becoming a mom, suffering through a really deep postpartum depression, and then the pandemic, I just started to kind of give a lot less f's and also had to face a lot of stuff and darkness. And throughout making this record, I kind of found myself again. I found myself. I found all of me. I integrated the dark and the light. And it's not just empowerment. There is empowerment on the record, but there's also truth about what we go through as women, as moms and humans. And I wanted to properly introduce myself to the world. So that's why it's titled that feelings.

[01:00:28]

Can you expect to feel listening to your new album?

[01:00:33]

Oh, you know, I think that I have a little tagline that I am working with, playing with that I might put on merch at some point, but it's permission to feel because it's really just taking a mask off and saying, hey, I'm human. And these are the range of human emotions that all of us feel, and I'm not pretending. And these are really raw journal entries, a lot of them. One of them is called bad thoughts, and I have a breathing meditation, and that's was originally titled listen to this if you're having a panic attack. Wow. Because I suffered with those, and I was thinking, man, I would love to have breath work woven into a pop song in some way.

[01:01:06]

That's sick.

[01:01:07]

So there's, like, a box breath that helps you in that song. And then there's a song called Mercy. When I was in my studio and throwing myself on the ground, like, crying out to God, that I didn't know if God was there. Are you there? This is horrible. Help me. So there's mercy. And then there's also a song called set me free, which is this freedom I found after surrendering and falling and kind of like the hero's journey after just really having been through the wringer and being like, there's nothing else that can hurt me in this way. You know, I'm so strong now. I think also as moms and dads, you know, we feel that a little bit. Like, man, we have a kid now. None of the stuff we thought matters matters as much anymore.

[01:01:45]

That's crazy.

[01:01:46]

And so there's that feeling of elation and freedom, and then there's pain that I'm addressing, and then there's just good old fashioned bops, like some love songs that I wrote to my husband and. But it still has a Rachel platin, like, empowered flavor. It's just me addressing all of the demons in my closet and then arriving back at the empowerment. So it's a lot more integrated.

[01:02:07]

Do you feel like. Do you feel relieved almost in a way that the people who get to listen to this album will have a more kind of 360 understanding of who you are as opposed to, like.

[01:02:18]

Yeah, great question.

[01:02:19]

No one's asking, hey, it's racial plan, like, fight, fight. You know, like.

[01:02:25]

So close to the.

[01:02:26]

Mic, and he took a bite.

[01:02:29]

But, yeah, you're feeling, like, a little bit more freeing and understood and as opposed to, you know, I think sometimes, however, you first kind of arrive on the scene as a public figure, you get very much kind of frozen in time or cemented into that kind of Persona, which is both a blessing and a curse at times. Oh, you're always grateful for connecting with fans, especially one who do connect with whatever you're bringing to the table. But I think over time, it can almost feel like you're. There's more to me or there gets siloed into this and you feel like you always have to explain not maybe wanting to live up to that expectation that people might have of you.

[01:03:09]

Wow. Yeah. I remember why we had so much fun last time, because you were so deep and you're so emotionally. Emotionally intelligent, too, and still got it. Yeah. Dude. Natalie, look at that guy.

[01:03:20]

No, it's great.

[01:03:20]

No, but that's it. That's exactly it.

[01:03:24]

Might judge my hair.

[01:03:25]

Yeah. Thank you.

[01:03:26]

It looks great.

[01:03:27]

I just needed a.

[01:03:28]

Who doesn't? But, you know, like, I think that you're right. I think you're right. No one's actually asked me that, and I haven't thought about that myself. And that is completely true. It is relief. What a brilliant way to say it. It feels like. That's why I'm so excited for the music to come out. I kind of feel like love it or hate it, at least you're going to know me and all of me.

[01:03:48]

I think I love it.

[01:03:50]

I think you're going to love it. I mean, I love it more than anything. And people have reacted really incredibly strongly and also, like, connected deeply and emotionally with it. But whether they do or not, it's really not up to me. I'm just so proud of myself for bringing forth what was, you know, I channeled and what I needed and songs that I needed to heal myself. And so whether people like it or not is. That's just gravy, because the song's already really saved my life. So it's a really empowering way to go into an album release. I've never gone into, like, putting something out in the world like this before. I've always felt much more needing the approval and scared that people won't like it and, like, terrified almost feeling of so strange. Cause it's like my music's strong, but then I come out with it and just deeply want the approval, even though I'm, you know, standing in the world as someone who doesn't need it.

[01:04:37]

That feeling of, like, I just don't give a fuck.

[01:04:41]

Oh, you can say fuck.

[01:04:42]

Oh, my gosh. Yeah. It's like.

[01:04:43]

So that's.

[01:04:45]

I feel like, such a rare feeling that not a lot of people get to experience, but when you do, it's, like, one of the best feelings. It's just like, I don't give a fuck what any of y'all think. I don't care. Like, I've got my husband. I've got my kids. Like, I'm good.

[01:04:58]

Yes, exactly.

[01:05:00]

Yes.

[01:05:00]

I think that good for you, that you do. You already feel.

[01:05:03]

Oh, yeah. Yeah.

[01:05:04]

Wow. You are young to feel that way. Yeah, sister, come here. That is. We missed. Who cares?

[01:05:09]

Who cares?

[01:05:10]

We don't care if we missed. You know what? Honestly, it feels like something you have to earn after being through some shit.

[01:05:16]

Yeah.

[01:05:17]

And. Or maybe you're born with it, and that's incredible. Credible. But I wasn't.

[01:05:21]

No, I learned it. I had to go through. I had to. I had to trudge through some deep, dark, mud school of not giving a fuck.

[01:05:29]

Yep. And I really good.

[01:05:30]

Joined the school. Of course it was a good school.

[01:05:35]

I would recommend it. And then you can kind of look at people that are hurting or going through something, and maybe anyone listening, like, you know, can kind of remember you guys. Like, this is how we arrive at the place of embodying our real power.

[01:05:49]

Yeah.

[01:05:49]

You know, like, it's only through dark that you get to see the light. As corny as that sounds. It's true.

[01:05:55]

It is true. And, like, coming out and being like, I survived all of that.

[01:05:59]

Nothing could touch me.

[01:06:00]

Like, nothing.

[01:06:00]

No. I had nights where I was writing those songs where I really was just in so much pain and so confused about, was anyone there? I felt all alone. I felt so scared. Even surrounded by love. So now to have found all those answers inside, like, realizing I don't need to go outside anymore for approval, for attention, for answers. I have it in me, and I'm so proud to teach my daughters that it had to be this way. You know, someone was asking me, like, would you change anything? Cause it was so much pain. And I was like, no.

[01:06:33]

When you were going through the darkest of times, was there anything that your husband did that you were, like, extremely grateful for that other people's partners can do if they're kind of going through the same thing?

[01:06:43]

That's such a good question. He is amazing. Kevin is just the best. Shout out, Kevin. He's running our record label.

[01:06:50]

Go, kev.

[01:06:51]

Shout out, kev.

[01:06:52]

You guys would love Kevin. We'd love to be your older mentors.

[01:06:55]

Can we get the kids together?

[01:06:57]

Yes.

[01:06:57]

Okay, great.

[01:06:57]

All your kids, definitely. They're two and five, but they love babies. Don't count us out.

[01:07:02]

Don't.

[01:07:04]

We are in the friend. We are in the friends. Parent parent friends.

[01:07:08]

We'll see how it goes, to be honest. Like, un podcasts.

[01:07:10]

We'll see how it goes.

[01:07:11]

No, no. For me, like, because what happens is I'm doing no. I'm firmly want to be your friend.

[01:07:17]

I immediately give a fucked.

[01:07:21]

Firmly want to be your friend. I'm saying, I, like, just did a podcast with an adorable famous lady, and she was like, oh, my God, let's be friends. And I was like, oh, we're gonna be friends. This is the best thing ever. And then we exchanged numbers and then nothing happened. So I understand there's, like, magic and love in podcasts. So I would love to. I would love to hang with you guys.

[01:07:39]

Okay, great. Any husband.

[01:07:41]

Okay. My husband is the best. He's the coolest, and he is a rock. He's just incredibly grounded. He is something that he did that other partners can do. He gave me space to heal, you know, he didn't need me to be better. And I honestly think that was the best thing he could do.

[01:07:59]

What's the best birthday present he's ever given you?

[01:08:03]

Nick is. Nick needs notes because my birthday is Saturday. Oh, my God.

[01:08:07]

What day is that?

[01:08:08]

31St.

[01:08:09]

Do you know that my 1001 year old neighbor is also the 31st? Her name's Gloria.

[01:08:13]

Okay. Iconic.

[01:08:14]

Yeah.

[01:08:15]

No, she was iconic to 101 years old.

[01:08:17]

You probably will.

[01:08:19]

I'm born on August 31.

[01:08:20]

Incredible.

[01:08:21]

Is gonna live till 100.

[01:08:22]

Are you a Virgo?

[01:08:23]

I am.

[01:08:23]

Love, Virgos. My daughter Sophie's a Virgo. All my best friends are Virgos.

[01:08:28]

Yes.

[01:08:28]

Sierra's birthday is day after.

[01:08:29]

Natalie's a bunch of virgo.

[01:08:31]

A bunch of virgos. My next child. I'm planning it. They are gonna be a Virgo.

[01:08:36]

Virgo. It's literally the best sign for women. I'm not that. I'm a way less organized sign.

[01:08:40]

You're giving Virgo energy.

[01:08:42]

Are you organized? If you're a Libra.

[01:08:44]

Libra.

[01:08:45]

You thinking about yourself?

[01:08:46]

Are you a Libra thinking about me? Oh, I'm always thinking about me too. Yeah, that's how we got along, too, because we were both like, back to me. And you were like, well, actually back to me because actually, this sign on the mic, right? And I'm like, but you're interviewing me.

[01:09:04]

What sign are you.

[01:09:05]

I'm a Taurus.

[01:09:06]

Okay. I know nothing about that.

[01:09:08]

Grounded, earthy. We like beautiful things. We like to indulge. Who cares? Whatever. You're like, are you a stripper?

[01:09:15]

I only ask people, and then when they say burger, I'm like, oh, my God.

[01:09:18]

Yay. Oh, shit. Okay.

[01:09:21]

We say so many.

[01:09:22]

Oh, thank God.

[01:09:23]

Wait, this is just a comedy bit. Like I said earlier, this is just a bit. None of this is real.

[01:09:29]

Love it.

[01:09:29]

Besides your album, I am Rachel Platinum.

[01:09:30]

Yeah.

[01:09:31]

September thirst.

[01:09:31]

That's very real, that comedy bit, to be honest. It's hilarious. Everything I went through is hilarious. What did my husband. Birthday. Okay, birthday, birthday, birthday. He's the best gift getter. Let me think. Okay, okay. Chill, chill, chill, chill, chill.

[01:09:47]

I'm gonna help you Friday night. Nick's gonna say, what do you want to do? And I'm gonna have to come.

[01:09:51]

That's what I do. Dude. Kevin, can I tell you something? He got so mad at me on father's day because. Okay, you guys, I was.

[01:09:58]

Thank you so much for asking. Absolutely fucking nothing. Best birthday present ever.

[01:10:06]

He got me concert tickets to an artist that I love. Front row.

[01:10:09]

You don't want to say the artist.

[01:10:10]

It was Elton John. Cool. It was so cool. But can I tell you something? Do you want to know something?

[01:10:15]

You hated it.

[01:10:16]

I didn't go.

[01:10:17]

Why?

[01:10:19]

Because I was extremely depressed. I was just that depressed, which is hilarious now, but I was like, you know, when you're so depressed, you're like, I just don't think I can get out of the house. And that was where I was at.

[01:10:31]

And Kenny was out in John. First row.

[01:10:32]

Yeah. He was just like, are you sure? And I was like, well, it's gonna be pretty cold out. He's like, that is not a reason not to go to a concert. But it felt like in LA. Yeah, it was in November. Perfect. It was cold.

[01:10:46]

We had to wear a jacket.

[01:10:47]

You had to wear a jacket. I was like, there's gonna be too many people. I'm feeling really anxious. Was right during the pandemic, like, towards the end. And I was extremely. I wasn't doing too well.

[01:10:57]

And he's never giving you a present sense.

[01:10:59]

Okay, let me think of another present that you can do. Let's see. Let's say he took me to Rosewood. Amazing Montecito. You know, that hotel.

[01:11:11]

And, like, you know what? Let's.

[01:11:14]

Why do you not. He's not gonna do anything.

[01:11:16]

Nick's not gonna do any of that.

[01:11:17]

No, you don't do. For her birthday. I'm saying, like, gifts certificate, a future plan. A future plan.

[01:11:26]

Hotel room. Use it whenever you like.

[01:11:28]

Yeah, thanks.

[01:11:30]

There's a coupon for a massage.

[01:11:33]

He did send me to calamigos once too. I'm like, all the spots.

[01:11:38]

It's kalamigos ran.

[01:11:39]

Yes.

[01:11:39]

I've been dying to go there.

[01:11:43]

Can I get some credit? Calamigos? I'm asking you because you're about to be blasted into all the.

[01:11:48]

That's my favorite spot that I ever go to.

[01:11:51]

I was thinking about.

[01:11:52]

Shut the fuck up.

[01:11:54]

I was.

[01:11:54]

For yourself. No, I would take her. It's. It's so close. 45 minutes drive.

[01:11:59]

They're pet friendly.

[01:12:01]

Pet friendly. Do you guys have a pet?

[01:12:03]

We have two dogs.

[01:12:04]

Oh, my God.

[01:12:04]

Yeah.

[01:12:05]

And a daughter.

[01:12:06]

Yeah. Right. Nick decided to get the second dog as I was, like, eight months pregnant.

[01:12:10]

Good for you.

[01:12:11]

That's why jealous Jeff needed a playmate.

[01:12:14]

That's crazy.

[01:12:15]

Does he feel happier now, your dog, jaws?

[01:12:18]

Yeah, it's definitely just a lot more work, for sure.

[01:12:22]

Which I do.

[01:12:23]

No.

[01:12:24]

Yeah, Nick does. Nick does take care of the dogs also. He does. It's big. Well, Steve is just bad. He was just a second dog, and he's naughty and he chews up and tears up, quite literally.

[01:12:34]

And that's who you brought into the home for Natalie yesterday.

[01:12:39]

Yesterday.

[01:12:39]

So don't get her a dog for her birthday.

[01:12:41]

Steve, we have rivers little, like, well, we have our nursery. Natalie did an amazing job with that. Very feng shui. Very nice. Very, very demure.

[01:12:51]

We love it.

[01:12:52]

And Steve, you know, sometimes rivers toys look a lot like the dog toys.

[01:12:58]

That's fair.

[01:12:58]

Yeah, it's confusing for a dog.

[01:13:00]

No, this motherfucker knew. He snatched. Snatched. Rivers toy runs out. And it was so quickly that naz like, wait, did. Did he grab one of river store toys? And I said, steve. And I'm yelling. So Steve comes back toiless, and I did the very thing that you have to do because Steve likes to eat a lot of things. I had to, like, kind of pry open his mouth and dig in there to see if there was anything in there. Nothing was in there. So I let. I'm like, oh, no, he's fine. Didn't take anything. Immediately runs away real fast. Not like. Not like, gently bounces away. Runs away. This motherfucker.

[01:13:38]

He has somewhere to be.

[01:13:39]

Yeah, he's gotta get back to something.

[01:13:42]

He took the toy. I called his name. He dropped the toy, came here to be like, I don't got anything. I searched this motherfucker's mouth. Then left, took said toy back outside and just the nibble on it. He's that bad?

[01:13:56]

No, what's. What's even worse is Nick was sitting in the nursery with river, and he had a binky in his mouth. And I was like, drop it. And he just was looking at me. And so I'm, like, walking towards him, and he loves the game, so he's running and I'm chasing him, and we're just running with the babies binky. And I'm like, drop it. Drop it.

[01:14:13]

Sit.

[01:14:14]

And he's not. He's running. And then we, like, keep running past the nursery, and it's like, I'm feeding river.

[01:14:19]

I'm like, what is going on out there?

[01:14:21]

She's like, stay, you guys.

[01:14:25]

So bad.

[01:14:25]

This is so chaotic. Yeah.

[01:14:27]

So that's our house if you ever want to come over.

[01:14:29]

I don't.

[01:14:29]

Okay, perfect.

[01:14:31]

My daughter Violet has. She's scared of dogs, even though we have a dog.

[01:14:35]

But.

[01:14:35]

But I understand why she's scared of dogs. My dog barks so loudly. He's a guard dog. So when anyone comes over, he's just like. And she literally, if she hears the doorbell, you guys, it's, like, actually really sad. Whenever she hears a doorbell, she immediately covers her ears because she thinks the dog's gonna bark. And I'm like. I've, like, Pavlovian trained her child.

[01:14:54]

Do you do that, too? Anytime your child does something for their first.

[01:14:57]

Oh, yeah. I mean, I think maybe.

[01:14:58]

Genius.

[01:14:59]

Well, you know. You know, it's so funny. As they get older, you stop thinking that they're a genius. But. But when they're younger, like, everyone's like, I think my baby might be this most special baby that's ever lived.

[01:15:07]

Like, I think my baby's, like, doing everything, like, early doing things.

[01:15:10]

Babies.

[01:15:10]

Yeah.

[01:15:11]

Absolutely.

[01:15:12]

97 men. She pulled herself up.

[01:15:13]

She's like, everything. It's really sweet. Every parent.

[01:15:17]

Every parent. We're all saying the same.

[01:15:21]

Every parent. Yeah. It's really cute, though. But, I mean, honestly, your baby is special. No, you two are special. Why wouldn't she be special?

[01:15:27]

Maybe she'll be an olympian.

[01:15:28]

Honestly. Upstanding.

[01:15:30]

Upstanding.

[01:15:30]

Maybe there's an event.

[01:15:31]

There will be.

[01:15:32]

There was a breakdancing event. Maybe they'll be like, pull yourself up. It's a lot of drunk people.

[01:15:37]

And everyone's listening to I am Rachel Platten before they do it.

[01:15:40]

And they're like, I can do it.

[01:15:41]

It's like, had a bad day. Olympics. Like, can you pick yourself back up?

[01:15:45]

Yeah. Love love.

[01:15:46]

That's kind of feeling sweet.

[01:15:48]

That's actually adorable. Maybe it's like, what if mental. Mental health was a category? And it was like, all right, we're gonna make you really sad and then get yourself back to a good state.

[01:15:56]

There probably will be someday.

[01:15:58]

It's a really internal event.

[01:16:00]

What has been your favorite thing that, like, your kids have done? That is, like, something we can look forward to?

[01:16:07]

Oh, my God. When they start to talk and, like, have real thoughts, it's incredible.

[01:16:13]

That's what I. What was their first words?

[01:16:15]

Oh, I don't remember. I think it was Dada. It's always Dada. I had a dream, but I had.

[01:16:21]

A dream said river for her first word to me without Natalie's.

[01:16:26]

You had a dream that mom said river to you being there?

[01:16:28]

And I cried.

[01:16:29]

I actually don't know if I followed that.

[01:16:31]

I don't see that.

[01:16:32]

One more time. It sounds beautiful.

[01:16:33]

I had a dream that river's first word was Mama.

[01:16:36]

Thank you.

[01:16:36]

In my presence without Natalie being there. And it made me cry in my sleep.

[01:16:42]

He's very emotional.

[01:16:44]

I know. He's lovely.

[01:16:45]

He is. He's very in tune.

[01:16:47]

He's lovely.

[01:16:47]

He is.

[01:16:48]

But I see, I had that same stream.

[01:16:51]

Have you ever seen that Saturday Night Live, where the women are like, delicious dish?

[01:16:56]

Yes.

[01:16:57]

Look at him. He's a cutie. Oh, that's another. That's another skit. They're like, look at him.

[01:17:03]

Because most of our. I think most of our day today is me doing something, and then Natalie will look at me and I go, ick. She's like, yeah.

[01:17:11]

Oh, what's. What do you mean, ick? Is that, like, your gross.

[01:17:13]

You ever heard of ick?

[01:17:14]

Yeah, but I'm nothing. Pretty old.

[01:17:15]

Oh, sometimes Nick will say, like, ooh, delicioso. And I'm like, oh, that's horrible. That's really bad.

[01:17:21]

Okay, I now understand. Thank you.

[01:17:23]

Yeah, thank you.

[01:17:23]

Like, I'll hop or skip or do something, like, demure or dainty, and she's like, ick.

[01:17:28]

Oh, no, I like that. Oh, that's funny. Kevin does. Like, we used to watch naked and afraid love like this, like, years ago when it first came out, ten years ago. And Kevin, I would make him. When he got out of the shower, I'd make him keep his towel off and, like, do naked and afraid moves.

[01:17:45]

I love how you said, make him.

[01:17:48]

Cause it's so funny. With balls dangling, just moving around the house. Can you guys imagine me climbing a rope naked as a man? It's so funny.

[01:17:57]

Honestly, who had been to that show, and are they okay? I don't know. Let's put a bunch of naked people in the woods and have them survive.

[01:18:04]

What about the ones? Seriously, they're like, they couldn't even give them a fucking pair of underwear. No ding dongs.

[01:18:11]

That's crazy. They're like, use a leaf.

[01:18:13]

Oh, my God. What about naked and afraid and dating? Oh, I guess the parade's not part of it.

[01:18:18]

Naked and afraid of naked and they're afraid of dating and relatable dad.

[01:18:25]

Okay.

[01:18:26]

Anyways, good stuff. Yeah.

[01:18:27]

Moms are awesome.

[01:18:29]

Hell, yeah. So we could I. Yeah. I'm excited to listen to her talk. I wonder what her voice was.

[01:18:33]

Nothing. I just was. I was. I felt like I was going on tangent, so I was pointing at you to say I'm sorry that I've talked so much.

[01:18:39]

Oh, my God. You're the guest.

[01:18:40]

Okay.

[01:18:41]

We love a talkative guest. Kayda Demira, guest.

[01:18:45]

Yeah. No, yeah, I know. That's hard.

[01:18:48]

It is hard.

[01:18:48]

Who's been the worst guest?

[01:18:50]

Ooh.

[01:18:50]

I'm kidding.

[01:18:51]

Okay.

[01:18:52]

I'm kidding. Who's been the best guest?

[01:18:54]

Rachel Platin, for sure.

[01:18:56]

Obviously, editors clip that.

[01:18:59]

Wait, actually, I think that might be true. Wait, actually, though, yeah, I think that might be true. Right? That's a great accomplishment.

[01:19:10]

I love this podcast. I'm so excited.

[01:19:12]

Excited or like, that band. It was like, you guys have been the best crowd.

[01:19:16]

Detroit. Detroit believes it. I'm Detroit.

[01:19:23]

They're like, no, we really. We say this to everyone, but you guys really are the best.

[01:19:28]

I do that on stage. I just did that at a city that I won't say the name of.

[01:19:34]

That's okay.

[01:19:35]

Actually, it felt true.

[01:19:35]

But in that moment.

[01:19:36]

In the moment, it was true.

[01:19:38]

In this moment, I couldn't. I truly not imagined a better.

[01:19:41]

Right.

[01:19:41]

Yeah.

[01:19:41]

My husband says that we have something in my family called platinum recency bias, because, like, all my whole family does it. Like, my dad will be, you know, my husband will give my dad a glass of wine, and my dad is a world traveler and a very, you know, fancy guy, and he. He's like, this is the best wine I've ever had. And Kevin's like, Paul, that cannot be true. It was $40. You have been all over the world. Like, no. Yes. And he's like, no, it's incredible. This really is the best.

[01:20:07]

I'm your husband. I'm like, no.

[01:20:09]

Kevin's like, Pauldin. No, no, it's not.

[01:20:12]

He calls your dad Paul.

[01:20:13]

Yeah. What should he call him?

[01:20:15]

Dad. I don't know, dad. I called Natalie's mom mom, like, a couple times just to try it on.

[01:20:20]

You did?

[01:20:20]

Yeah.

[01:20:22]

That's really sweet to her face.

[01:20:23]

I think.

[01:20:24]

So what'd she say?

[01:20:25]

Nothing.

[01:20:26]

She, like, answered.

[01:20:27]

Yeah.

[01:20:27]

Oh, great.

[01:20:28]

Yeah.

[01:20:28]

Could you imagine? She's like, what did you just call me?

[01:20:31]

I'm not your mother.

[01:20:32]

I call Kevin's mom mama mama. Yeah, we're close, but Kevin does nothing. Call my parents mom and dad.

[01:20:38]

I feel like the dad, like you calling my dad dad might.

[01:20:42]

I tried it on. It was, like, a little weird. You didn't like to, Lisa.

[01:20:45]

It's sweet. It's sweet in theory.

[01:20:47]

Yeah.

[01:20:47]

Yeah. I like that you call her dad dad? Yeah, it's nice.

[01:20:50]

Her dad. No.

[01:20:51]

Oh. Her dad doesn't like.

[01:20:54]

Oh, he would never.

[01:20:55]

I'm so.

[01:20:55]

My mom. He called my mom.

[01:20:57]

Oh, but I thought you just said that I call. But I also call her dad dad. You do not.

[01:21:01]

That would be. Yeah, no, I don't even really call my daddy dad dad. And only because he calls my daughter Rosie.

[01:21:07]

Yeah.

[01:21:08]

And I'm like, that's not her name. Her name is river. And he's like, I don't think River Rose goes together. And I'm like, okay, well, perfect.

[01:21:14]

Yeah, no, he's. He's. He's one more Rosie away from me calling him.

[01:21:19]

Oh, this got aggressive.

[01:21:22]

Yeah. No, I understand. You named your daughter for a reason. Yes. And nicknames are fine and sweet. They're like pumpkin.

[01:21:30]

Yeah. And, like, Rosie. If.

[01:21:31]

Like, I.

[01:21:31]

It was like, oh, but you're doing it because you don't like the name river.

[01:21:36]

That's not okay. Are you sure he doesn't like the name?

[01:21:39]

Well, at the baby shower, he was like, so, what's the name? And I was like, river Rose. It's like, on the cake and everything. And he was like, I just, you know.

[01:21:46]

Okay, you're absolutely fine.

[01:21:47]

I don't think that goes together. And I was like, well, what do you think goes with that? And he was like, my. She's named after my grandmother. And he was like, well, Bessie Rose. And I was like, I can't. Very different kind of name. My daughter Bessie.

[01:22:02]

Like, what?

[01:22:03]

Oh, yeah.

[01:22:04]

My Laura.

[01:22:05]

And he was like, well, you know, I don't have any other suggestions. And I'm like, well, perfect. She's like, I'm just gonna call her Rosie. I'm like, all right.

[01:22:13]

Oh.

[01:22:13]

So, yeah, you know the origin. I get that. That makes sense. So that's.

[01:22:16]

I'm gonna start just calling him names that I want to call him that. I think sound nicer than his.

[01:22:20]

Okay. I love that for you. Like, what are you gonna try?

[01:22:23]

We'll see what happens.

[01:22:24]

Okay. Yeah. Let's avoid this topic anymore, right?

[01:22:27]

Yeah, this is getting a little.

[01:22:29]

Well, hey, dad.

[01:22:31]

So. So you made me watch tv and made you.

[01:22:37]

She's like, for not. Not talking about this. You made me fucking watch. Before we get to bachelorette, did you watch any love island? Yeah, the USA one.

[01:22:46]

No. Can I tell you what happened? I couldn't find. This is so embarrassing. I couldn't find it. Like, I found the third season or the start. I found the first season, Netflix. I didn't do a great job. Like, did you.

[01:22:58]

But did you look for it, or did you just.

[01:22:59]

I didn't look hard. Okay. What happened was one day I was sitting there and I was like, I think I'm supposed to watch this. It's not that I don't watch tv. I do. But Kevin is very judgy about what tv we watch, and we only. And I only have time to watch tv when the kids are asleep. Right?

[01:23:15]

Yep.

[01:23:16]

So the kids go to bed at now. It's later and later because my youngest is a pain in the butt, and.

[01:23:21]

She not tie it.

[01:23:22]

She not tied at all. At all. So she. Okay. Anyway, who cares? I didn't watch it, but I watched the bachelorette, the whole thing.

[01:23:34]

And what were your thoughts?

[01:23:35]

I have so many thoughts. But I want to tell you what else I watched to see that I did my homework. Well, I also watched love is blind uk a little bit.

[01:23:44]

We watched a little bit of that, too.

[01:23:45]

And I really liked it so far.

[01:23:46]

It is good so far.

[01:23:47]

Fantastic.

[01:23:48]

Do you typically watch love? Love is blind?

[01:23:49]

Yes. I like love is blind. Like, I was even watching love is blind Mexico. I wish you had asked about that.

[01:23:53]

I wish we knew about love is blind Mexico.

[01:23:55]

Yes.

[01:23:56]

Is it in Spanish?

[01:23:59]

Si.

[01:24:00]

Do you speak?

[01:24:01]

I mean, I'm not fluent, but.

[01:24:02]

Yes.

[01:24:03]

No. Si.

[01:24:06]

Way more.

[01:24:07]

Way more. That was a great accent.

[01:24:09]

Oh, mucho gracias.

[01:24:11]

Oh, my God. My aunt is from Spain. Yes. And I have tried and lives in Spain.

[01:24:18]

She's from Alabama.

[01:24:19]

Well, okay. She's lived. She's lived there for 40 years. Her husband is Spanish. Yes. And her kids were born and raised there.

[01:24:29]

But I was like, oh, Natalie has. But I guess why it was good, you clarified, because I was like, oh.

[01:24:33]

My nationality is, like, a little bit of Portuguese.

[01:24:35]

I'm just saying you don't want to get into whole, like, Alec Baldwin's wife territory.

[01:24:38]

Yeah.

[01:24:43]

Dangerous water here.

[01:24:45]

Cucumbers.

[01:24:46]

But, Natalie, you're so beautiful. What is your heritage?

[01:24:49]

It's a little bit of Portuguese.

[01:24:51]

Okay. And what about you, Nick? You're so beautiful. What's your heritage?

[01:24:53]

Thank you. I'm mostly English and Swedish anyways.

[01:24:59]

So what was. What was your favorite out of bachelorette or love is wine.

[01:25:05]

Okay. I have a lot of thoughts about the bachelorette. How much have you already gone into it on your episodes?

[01:25:10]

Like, none.

[01:25:10]

What, this episode?

[01:25:11]

No, no, I mean, like, you talk about the bachelorette. Oh, okay. Okay. This episode, I mean, I feel really kind of embarrassed to jump forward my first thoughts. Can you guys, like, get it started? So I know, like, even though I have a song called set me free, I'm still deeply people pleasing about this topic, for sure.

[01:25:28]

I feel like.

[01:25:29]

I feel like Jen revealed herself to be a little bit of, like, you know, someone who likes to go under unavailable. The only 100%. You know, the only person she doesn't like this episode is the one guy who's like, listen, I love you, and I'm not afraid to say it, jumping in. Everyone else is just like, listen, I don't know how I feel about you yet.

[01:25:46]

Oh, this is perfect for me, 100%. She is. Like, I was actually watching her with kind of a sadness of like, oh, baby, you still have a lot of wounds from your dad, and this is showing up in how you want to have emotionally unavailable people. And it was. Yeah, it was just very clear, like you said. It was. It was just so obvious. This guy is ready to give you his heart. You loved him. Like, I felt like they were.

[01:26:12]

I felt I did. I felt the love between her and.

[01:26:15]

Them and felt like he could be a real partner for her, you know, because he's emotionally so available and he is so adoring of her. And I. I have a theory. Tell me what you guys think. I think that the husband should always love the wife. Just obviously.

[01:26:29]

Absolutely. You know, the husband needs to be obsessed with the wife and the wife to be like, you know, I love you.

[01:26:34]

I love you deeply, but I. Right, right.

[01:26:37]

I'm nothing disagreeing.

[01:26:38]

Isn't that kind of true?

[01:26:39]

But why porcupine?

[01:26:41]

Porque.

[01:26:45]

Well, again, I've never.

[01:26:48]

So I haven't totally firmed up my views on why. I just feel like it's just this gut instinct that my sister and I came up with, like, long ago when we started dating, and we always just felt like the guy we chose should be our boyfriend, should be just a tiny little bit more obsessed with us than we were with him. And I don't know why. I think it was this instinct, distinctive, intuitive feeling as a woman that you need to be treated and adored like a queen because we are a little bit more emotionally up and down. And if a man. Yeah. And if a man absolutely adores you, he's going to put up with just a little bit, you know? I don't know. Maybe that's. No, you're right.

[01:27:23]

We had Paige Desorbo on a while back, and she said the same thing of, like, I think you're. The guy needs to be a little bit more obsessed with the woman.

[01:27:32]

Why do you think Natalie? Or why do Paige.

[01:27:34]

I don't remember exactly why. Do you remember what Paige's reason was?

[01:27:37]

I don't.

[01:27:38]

Perfect. Perfect, perfect.

[01:27:41]

Well, see, I think you are right in that I. But I do also think that the, like, other side of it is I would love nothing more than to just, like, be inside of Nick's pocket at all times. Like, if I could fit in there and I could just, like, hang out.

[01:27:55]

You're so cute.

[01:27:56]

I would love that. He is like, please get the fuck away from me.

[01:28:00]

You know, what if for your birthday, I let you cuddle me however you want all day long, for as long as you want. You have to fall asleep making out from the heart.

[01:28:10]

I do. I want to fall asleep like this.

[01:28:12]

Oh, my God. You're so cute. I don't.

[01:28:16]

What if Kevin said that to you? What would you say?

[01:28:18]

I would be like, get away from me. I'm more nick in this situation. Like, I'm like, ugh, give me space. He's, like, such a cutie. But, like, to tell you the truth, to tell you the truth, I think that we go back and forth on who's more into the other person, and I think it works really well because of that. But I just mean, initially.

[01:28:37]

Yes.

[01:28:38]

Like, I think as a marriage continues and as you develop, I think, like, you're naturally gonna ebb and flow by. Yeah, I just mean, I think initially, like, I think the spark is. It's. You have to. It has to be mutual. Okay, wait, can I just. Yeah, go ahead.

[01:28:50]

I think playing off of your ladies theory, whether it's more or the same, I just think, to your lady's point.

[01:28:59]

I love being caught a lady.

[01:29:00]

I do too.

[01:29:00]

Lady.

[01:29:01]

Yeah. I feel like you ladies.

[01:29:03]

I think that. I think the men need to simply just be obsessed with their partner.

[01:29:10]

Yeah.

[01:29:10]

They can't just, like. Like, their partner. There. There has to be something about their partner. They need.

[01:29:16]

Yes.

[01:29:17]

You know?

[01:29:18]

Yes.

[01:29:19]

And I think maybe to that end, love that, you know, I can't live without this.

[01:29:23]

Yes.

[01:29:23]

And I need this where maybe you guys don't need to need something.

[01:29:28]

Yes. Besides being in your pocket. I do need that. I feel like I do. I do need to be smothered at some points of my life.

[01:29:36]

I do need to be adored. I need Kevin to think I am the cutest, most adorable thing because I am crazy and I need. But you know what? Also, I think you're right, Nick. I think there needs to be something. Because here's. I just had a theory, as you were talking, because traditionally, and not even traditionally, like, historically, men spread their seed. How would. An awful way to say it.

[01:30:00]

Yeah.

[01:30:01]

That they are there. Right. Right. They're supposed to go and, like, procreate as much as they can. Women are supposed to nest and stick with one. And so even, like, genetic or what the. I don't even know what the thing would be. Whatever. I think that, like, men, if. If the man is just absolutely obsessed with you, that little tiny historic gene in his head that's saying, I need to go explore other. You know what I mean? It's just turned. Yeah. It isn't there like Kevin's. But you know what's so funny? I remember in my twenties, because Kevin and I met so long ago, I thought I would. I mean, maybe in my early thirties, I thought I was just the hottest thing since sliced bread. I was just like, I am attractive, but I maybe thought that I was, like, the most gorgeous thing in the world around, like, 33, I think, is a woman. Like, really? How old are you?

[01:30:46]

26 on Saturday.

[01:30:47]

So long to go. I mean, you're already peaking, but.

[01:30:50]

So Natalie's at the age where she rounds up still.

[01:30:54]

That's such a different place.

[01:30:57]

No, no, no, no. I don't want to round up anymore. No. When I hit 25, I was like, all right, I could stay here.

[01:31:03]

Oh, but it gets so much better. It just gets better and better and better.

[01:31:06]

But it just felt weird to be like, I'm 25 when I will be 26 on Saturday.

[01:31:09]

Right, right. That's fair. Like, my daughter's gonna be three in nine days.

[01:31:12]

Like, it feels like I'm lying to you. Like.

[01:31:14]

Like, right.

[01:31:15]

I'm closer to 26 and I am 25.

[01:31:17]

I was just thinking, sure, Sophie's about to turn three, and I was telling someone she's two, and they were, like, impressed by something she was doing on the monkey bars, and you're like, wait. And I felt like, don't worry, she's actually three. Same. Okay. So anyway, I was. When I was younger, I remember thinking, man, Kevin is so lucky. And he doesn't look at other women because I am that amazing. I mean, I don't feel that way anymore. I'm like, you know, have had two kids and now I know. No, but now I know what happens. Like menta, you know? So anyway, we're in New York. Nick's just scowling at me.

[01:31:44]

No, I'm listening.

[01:31:46]

So anyway, we're in New York. We lived in New York at the time. And there are these two very hot girls on bikes. And they're young and they're like, on bikes with short shorts and they're leaning over their bikes, like taking a picture. And Kevin's holding my hand in the west village, and without realizing at all what he's doing, he all of a sudden yelps. He goes, woohoo. I was like, what the fuck did you just cat call when you were holding your wife's hand? Are you fucking. He was like, he was so scared. He's like, I I. And then he started laughing and I'm like, oh my God. And it was that day that I realized that he still looked at other women. I never knew. I never knew.

[01:32:30]

I don't.

[01:32:31]

Yeah, right. Nick went to air one yesterday. Cause he has like a secret girlfriend.

[01:32:36]

I go to air one every day.

[01:32:38]

No. Well, we were gonna get. We were like, what should we do for lunch?

[01:32:42]

She's the cashier.

[01:32:43]

We decided we wanted Trinity.

[01:32:46]

I know trinity.

[01:32:46]

Oh my God.

[01:32:47]

Do you know Trinity? She do.

[01:32:50]

So cute.

[01:32:51]

Are you guys being serious?

[01:32:52]

Follow her on Instagram?

[01:32:54]

No. Fuck.

[01:32:55]

She asked me if I believe in God one day. I was like, she invited me to the spirit.

[01:32:58]

Yes.

[01:33:01]

So special. Oh, she invited you to.

[01:33:03]

Oh, she's never invited me. Just so we're clear, we feel a little trinity.

[01:33:08]

But we were like, we wanted some orange chicken for lunch yesterday, and now he's like, great. Er. One has orange chicken on Sundays.

[01:33:15]

Yeah, I didn't know that. Sundays.

[01:33:17]

It's really good, by the way. So I was like, I'll go and get us lunch. And it was Sunday, so I had the sweatpants on and the sweatshirt and river earlier that day had spit up all over me.

[01:33:27]

So that's besides the point.

[01:33:28]

Had some puke on, so I decided to change the shirt. Well, the shirt was a green Bay packer shirt. Didn't really go with the navy sweatpants. So I put on some jeans.

[01:33:37]

He got ready. No, he got ready.

[01:33:40]

And then there was a green hat sitting on the counter. So I threw on the hat, and.

[01:33:44]

He comes around, and I've got my back to where he. And I hear his, like, high heels walking on the. You know, I'm like, oh, you got dressed up? Like, I swear to God, if I turn around, you have a cute outfit on.

[01:33:53]

Fucking coming. Because I was like, damn, I look good.

[01:33:57]

And I turn around, I'm like, who is she? Like, who's the bitch? Like, what's going on?

[01:34:00]

Like, why did you get us some orange sugar?

[01:34:04]

And then he said he needed a break from me. And I'm like, no, it's because I was trying to get into his pocket. And he was like, I need a break from.

[01:34:09]

You know, that actually wasn't true. I said before I got ready, because now I was just decided, I don't know if you've ever done this, but every once in a while.

[01:34:17]

Yeah.

[01:34:17]

I realized that, Natalie, just for, like, maybe just 60 seconds, sometimes night just needs to be mean to me.

[01:34:26]

Yeah.

[01:34:26]

And just talking away. Yeah, that's kind of like.

[01:34:29]

It's not me.

[01:34:30]

You're a stupid fucking idiot. She doesn't say. She would never call me a stupid fucking idiot.

[01:34:34]

But I know what you mean here in the voice. It's a little aggression.

[01:34:37]

Well, it's just like.

[01:34:38]

I understand.

[01:34:39]

So. And she was hungry. We were hungry.

[01:34:41]

Same, by the way. I didn't fault every woman, probably, but.

[01:34:44]

I did jokingly say, I'll go.

[01:34:46]

I need a break from you, and then came out.

[01:34:49]

Came out looking hot.

[01:34:50]

Oh, shit.

[01:34:51]

That is a fact that I needed to know before. Yes.

[01:34:54]

Yes, yes.

[01:34:56]

Wow.

[01:34:57]

Yes. And it turns out Erwin doesn't have it on Sunday. It's Saturday.

[01:35:01]

So I went for nothing.

[01:35:02]

Well, but you didn't get a substitute.

[01:35:04]

Did you see Trinity?

[01:35:05]

Well, we wanted chinese food, and I said, do you have any orange chicken substitutes?

[01:35:10]

Can I tell you guys?

[01:35:11]

To which he replied, yeah.

[01:35:13]

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

[01:35:14]

No, we didn't. Thank you. And then we ordered. Where'd we order from?

[01:35:18]

Green apple.

[01:35:19]

We enjoyed it.

[01:35:19]

I am so glad to know the whole journey of that meal. That was not a waste of a minute.

[01:35:25]

Right?

[01:35:26]

And then Natalie ordered three meals worth, so we also had chinese for dinner.

[01:35:30]

Oh, okay. That made it a great story.

[01:35:32]

Exactly.

[01:35:32]

Yeah. Because it brought up the fact that chinese food is the best leftover.

[01:35:36]

It is.

[01:35:37]

I don't eat it anymore. But when I did.

[01:35:38]

Why don't you eat it?

[01:35:39]

Just because I'm, like, old and, like, who you like? I just, like. I don't know. I feel like you don't eat chinese food in your forties. Like, you know.

[01:35:50]

I think we should have chinese food.

[01:35:52]

That was such a big statement. That's not true. I just meant. Okay. I just meant, like, I'm trying to.

[01:35:57]

Cause who's giving up chinese?

[01:35:58]

I'm trying to tighten it up. I'm trying to tighten it up. I'm going to be on tv.

[01:36:01]

Tighten what up? Just the whole package, like the whole thing.

[01:36:05]

Trying to just.

[01:36:07]

Food in your forties.

[01:36:10]

Okay. I'm going to rescind the former statement. Please, the record show. I do think you can eat chinese food in your forties, but you just don't. I choose not to.

[01:36:18]

Okay.

[01:36:18]

Because I just. It's a little harder. What I mean is, like, it's a little harder to keep it tight in your forties. Really quick question, that's all. Yeah. How did we get here?

[01:36:26]

I thought we were talking about the bachelorette, right?

[01:36:28]

Jen's trauma.

[01:36:29]

Jen's trauma, yeah.

[01:36:31]

Was that how.

[01:36:31]

I felt really sad for her. I felt sad watching her. Yeah. I could do a quick transition.

[01:36:36]

Great. Okay, perfect.

[01:36:37]

Yeah, I'm back on track.

[01:36:38]

Pick it up.

[01:36:39]

I felt it was really, like, it was hard to watch, to be honest.

[01:36:43]

I really hate it when the. All of a sudden, towards the end of these seasons, like, we're in right now, that the bachelorette all of a sudden turns into one of the contestants. You know what I'm saying?

[01:36:53]

Yes.

[01:36:54]

It's just like, all of a sudden, she's got three people left and she's.

[01:36:56]

Just like, yes, I know exactly what you mean. She does. She's not in control. She feels like I'm actually watching it. And I was like, is there even a connection here? Like, I actually don't believe that you're ready to get engaged to any of these people. The way that you're talking off camera right now, although I have never been through it. I know you have. And, like, I don't know what that feels like to narrow down that decision with other people in the. In the field. That seems super confusing, possible, you know.

[01:37:24]

They'Re leaving stuff out or things like that. Or maybe the conversations don't feel as one sided, you know, in reality, as they do as us watching them. That's possible, Zachary.

[01:37:34]

Well, who is. Who do you feel like you see Jen with the most? Marcus, Jonathan or Devon?

[01:37:39]

Well, who I like the most? First of all, I just want to say I really like Jen. I went into the season thinking that I was going to be a little bored, and I really wanted Daisy to be the bachelor. I don't know why. I just, like, I just thought that she'd be fun, especially because of her rap. And I just thought that would be interesting. So I was really mainly sad about that. I was like, oh, I really would have liked to see the rap.

[01:38:01]

The music video.

[01:38:01]

Yeah, the music video. So have you guys seen it? Oh, we have. Okay. Okay. Everyone seen it. So that, anyway, but I really liked Jen, and I really thought that she was way deeper and more interesting and, like, adorable and cute than I thought I was going to feel about her. And so I liked her, and I thought she was a good bachelorette. And I think she is a good bachelorette. I just, right now, I feel like she's going back to old patterns exactly like you said. Like, she kind of felt like she was empowered and in command and, like, you know, understanding that this, this is her choice. Right. And I feel like as it's dwindling and getting, you know, closer and closer, she maybe, I don't know, maybe she's, like, getting afraid and that it's real and that the feelings that Devon had and I do also just want to say Devin did seem a little desperate. Like, like, come on, dude, like, give her a break. We're doing the most, it was the most, like, come easy. Like, don't you. Have you seen this show? People say that they love you and that the bachelor or the bachelorette rarely says it back until the end.

[01:38:58]

Yeah, chill. I said it, but now I need her.

[01:39:00]

Now I need to hear, like, easy, buddy. Like, can you. Right, like, chill out. Well, although she said it to Marcus, which would. Shocking.

[01:39:09]

I was shocked by that, only to get stonewalled.

[01:39:11]

What the dick was that? I was like, you're not in love with him.

[01:39:14]

It's gotta suck being the bachelorette, saying I love you to someone and you get the. Thank you for sharing. Yeah.

[01:39:20]

And it just happened to Devin. Like, it's so I felt like I was, that's why I was like, this is, this is turning into a game. Like, Devin's saying it to her. She doesn't want to say it back. Then she's saying to Marcus, mars doesn't want to say it back. And I'm like, and personally, I think that Jonathan is, is lovely and he seems so solid. He's my favorite by far. He's normal. He seems like he has a life that she could fit into as a creative director in LA. It's probably where she wants to move anyways.

[01:39:43]

She didn't tell us that she saw having babies with Jonathan over anyone else.

[01:39:47]

Wait, you met. You met her?

[01:39:48]

We had her on and we were like, oh, what does the life look like with a, b, and c? And with Jonathan, she said kids, and we were like, so.

[01:39:57]

So you pick Jonathan.

[01:39:58]

At this point, it kind of looks like two of the guys might leave on their own accord. And it's like, I don't want her choosing Jonathan based on leave.

[01:40:04]

Do you think? I don't think Devin's gonna leave.

[01:40:06]

I don't.

[01:40:07]

Just maybe just needing the attention and saying everything, but it's just kind of like it's giving this idea that, like, she actually really isn't in control because it almost seems like Jonathan is the only choice.

[01:40:15]

Well, the big question is, because it ends on a cliffhanger of which we'll find out on, you know, the beginning of men tell all the like, but it's like, devin goes home, right? Yeah.

[01:40:25]

He has to.

[01:40:27]

Like, he goes home, like, yeah, she's not in love with him. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[01:40:31]

She's like, I have two guys. I'm waiting to find out if they love me at all.

[01:40:35]

Don't you think? Jonathan was kind of like. I felt like she and Jonathan were on the even, even place. I felt like that was the only one that feels like it matched where they both were.

[01:40:42]

Did.

[01:40:42]

But unless I miss something, usually this is right around the time that, you know, you get the whole I'm falling and love with you, because next week, they're going to be in love, and I don't feel like.

[01:40:52]

Seems like they're a little early to reach that. She and Jonathan seem like they have a little work to do.

[01:40:57]

Jonathan hasn't.

[01:40:58]

Yeah, Jonathan did say he was like, I see myself, like, getting on one knee with you. I can see my, like, I can see all of that. So he's, like, kind of voicing the reality that, like, okay, if next week, if it's me, I could see myself doing that.

[01:41:10]

But did he say he's falling in love?

[01:41:11]

He said, I'm falling for you multiple times.

[01:41:14]

Said last week or during hometowns and what not that it was like the same in batch.

[01:41:17]

I'm just saying, can you help me understand bachelor world?

[01:41:20]

There's a very, like, I'm certain of fall in love with you, then I'm.

[01:41:24]

Starting to fall.

[01:41:28]

Then I'm in love with you, and I think I can see myself spending the rest of my.

[01:41:34]

Life with you, and then I, like, a whole different, and then I love you.

[01:41:38]

I'm like, how far are we? Do you have binoculars, like, but that's.

[01:41:40]

Why it's giving bait and switch to me. Because she hasn't said, like, either way, how she feels about Jonathan to him or about him. It's. I like him. It's great. But she's not like, I'm falling in love with Jonathan, and Jonathan's not like, I'm falling in love with her. But they seem like they're on the same page.

[01:41:53]

On the same page. And they look so good together. I know the superficial, but I just love them together. I love the look.

[01:42:00]

Who. Who's the person?

[01:42:01]

Like, their babies would be beautiful. Jonathan and Jen. I'm concerned about DeVon and Jen's babies.

[01:42:07]

But Marcus and her.

[01:42:08]

Yeah, but Marcus is not even, like, Marcus is a disaster. Marcus is going home in, like, a second. That kid is.

[01:42:15]

He's gonna do the three lineup situation. Jen, can I talk to you for a second? And then it's, like, giving out the rose, and there's always one that, like, goes and has a private talk, being like, I don't think I can be here anymore, or, I need more from you. And they always get sent home.

[01:42:27]

Have we ever had someone just decline the rose in mid rose ceremony? Just be like, honestly, now that I'm here in this moment, can do it. Wouldn't be kind of iconic? I don't think it's ever done. Been done.

[01:42:39]

I did read some article that was, like. That was talking about what's his name, who left Austin or something. Okay, I'm sure you guys already talked about that. But how, like, it's such a producer driven show now that, like, they're not really tending to the contestants enough. And he was just like, I'm out.

[01:42:55]

Say this again.

[01:42:56]

I have no idea what I'm talking about. Let's actually skip this.

[01:42:59]

Okay?

[01:43:00]

Say that one more time.

[01:43:02]

I made all that up.

[01:43:04]

Bachelor lore.

[01:43:05]

I was basically saying. I read an article. Someone was saying that the Bachelor as a franchise is so producer driven versus, like, love island, where, like, it's all the contestants just not with can. Like, they don't have the cameras around. They're just. They're showing you who they are. It's just really their decisions. And they're, like, the bachelor franchise is, like, a little bit producer driven and that manipulated and, like, that. I speak to that, though. Please, please.

[01:43:29]

I mean, I haven't been there for a while, so things could be a little bit. It's for me, Laic, the bachelor, as we know. And I just think the people making the show now love the formula. And I think there have been other people in charge in the past who like, yeah, there's the formula, but they like to, you know, spread their wings a little bit. I think there's less of that going on. So I think now when you have. When you're casting people on the show who have been fans who have watched the show, I think they go knowing. They go knowing the formula.

[01:43:59]

Right, right.

[01:44:00]

Kind of self editing and things like that, I don't. You know, that's good. That's a good point. I think it's.

[01:44:05]

Can you guys tell me about the hometowns? Cause I actually couldn't find that episode. I don't know why. So I'm coming in without a lot of knowledge.

[01:44:11]

Can't find Love Island, USA.

[01:44:15]

I'm not good at watching tv.

[01:44:16]

Do you use the search bar at all? I did.

[01:44:19]

I swear to God. I went on last night. Cause I was trying to cram my homework for this, and I was like, all right, I got to episode six, and what you guys sent me was episode eight. And I knew I needed to watch episode seven in order to watch all of it. What do you mean? Oh, what do you mean? Watch all of what?

[01:44:33]

Like, all of, like. Like everything that's been out.

[01:44:36]

Yeah.

[01:44:36]

Oh, my gosh. You are.

[01:44:38]

You are. Yeah, I've watched season.

[01:44:40]

No, that's incredible.

[01:44:41]

That's why I have so much amazing insight.

[01:44:44]

We expected you to be, like, with the most recent episode.

[01:44:47]

No, I have watched the entire season.

[01:44:49]

I love your chest.

[01:44:50]

Yes.

[01:44:51]

Okay. You want to talk about some previous episodes?

[01:44:53]

No, no. I think the way that Brett was.

[01:44:56]

Sent home night one, could you believe.

[01:44:58]

That Brett was sent home night one?

[01:44:59]

I disliked Sam deeply.

[01:45:02]

Oh, my God.

[01:45:03]

I'm sure you covered that.

[01:45:04]

That was terrible.

[01:45:05]

What?

[01:45:06]

Take Rachel.

[01:45:09]

Thank God.

[01:45:10]

We are okay. Jerks. Can you tell me about hometowns? What was Jonathan's hometown like with her?

[01:45:17]

Very natural.

[01:45:18]

Yeah. They played lacrosse because they both are. College lacrosse player.

[01:45:21]

It was really cute. It gave like. Yeah, it gave like, this is your forever.

[01:45:25]

And where does his family live?

[01:45:27]

San Diego. I love that.

[01:45:29]

For her future visits. For home, like, come on. San Diego for the holidays. Yep.

[01:45:34]

No, it's definitely. It's definitely Jonathan.

[01:45:36]

Like, who wants to go to Houston with, like, he's a freight company owner? I don't see that for her. I see creative director for her. Jonathan. You guys don't know. I am.

[01:45:45]

So you're not reading the tags I post?

[01:45:48]

I'm fascinated by their careers. I am. Because some of them are like. Like careers that you're like, that's not a career.

[01:45:54]

No, I know. Like, there was on.

[01:45:56]

Oh, yeah. What? It was the portrait. Portrait.

[01:45:59]

No. On love is blind UK. They have luxury.

[01:46:03]

Luxury bag, luxury experience.

[01:46:06]

Luxury experience.

[01:46:07]

What is that?

[01:46:10]

No, but he's on a cruise ship. That's what. That's what we found out.

[01:46:13]

Oh, I didn't watch that far.

[01:46:14]

Oh, guys. What the dick? I have watched so much more tv than you have.

[01:46:18]

Sorry.

[01:46:18]

And I was so nervous about not knowing enough. Anyway, that's what he does now.

[01:46:22]

You know too much.

[01:46:22]

Yeah, I do. Now he's on cruise ships, and he helps them purchase things on cruise ships. But he was like, said to her, he's like, don't worry. I want to get out of that field. And she's like, well, that's good. How do we get married? If you were on a cruise ship.

[01:46:36]

What are we gonna do?

[01:46:37]

Yeah.

[01:46:37]

Do you like cruises? No, thank you.

[01:46:40]

I absolutely think they're the worst. I have the most funny cruise story experience. Do you wanna know, or is it time to be done?

[01:46:45]

Oh, my God. No, no. He's shooting my eyes at me because I said, I do. I do like a cruise. I love the Disney cruise. Oh, yeah.

[01:46:53]

She's a Disney adult.

[01:46:53]

I really am.

[01:46:54]

Yeah. And it's really nice.

[01:46:56]

That is so cute.

[01:46:57]

But don't die there.

[01:46:58]

You are so cute. My husband thinks there should be reality show about Disney adults.

[01:47:02]

Oh, I think so, too.

[01:47:05]

That's all I asked for my birthday. I just want to go to Disney.

[01:47:07]

I want to know about you.

[01:47:09]

I want to study your brain.

[01:47:10]

I want to understand. It's so sweet. My friend Christina Perry is a huge Disney.

[01:47:14]

Okay.

[01:47:15]

Name drop.

[01:47:15]

Love them.

[01:47:16]

Iconic.

[01:47:16]

I didn't mean to name Trump one.

[01:47:19]

Of my good friends.

[01:47:20]

And she's a great.

[01:47:22]

Like, she's sick.

[01:47:23]

Loves Disney.

[01:47:24]

I love Christina Perry.

[01:47:25]

She's incredible.

[01:47:25]

And Rachel Platin.

[01:47:26]

Rachel's incredible.

[01:47:28]

No. She's so sweet.

[01:47:29]

Yeah. I am Rachel platinum.

[01:47:30]

Oh, my God.

[01:47:32]

I haven't made that joke. That's great. Love you, too. Wait. Okay. Can I tell you guys my group story?

[01:47:39]

Yes.

[01:47:39]

Okay. I think I feel like Nick is just, like, so wonderful. I love how you look at a guest. It's just with this, like, bemusement, and it just makes you feel like your most special self.

[01:47:50]

What does bemusement mean?

[01:47:52]

Bemusement is like, kind of like, you're amused, but kind of like, with a little tickle.

[01:47:55]

You're amused, but with a little bemu.

[01:48:01]

All right, so I went on a right. Right before fight song exploded. I was anyone who doesn't know my story. I was on the road, like living out of a van for like a couple years, traveling around the country, playing in living rooms, bars, wherever would have me. And I wrote fight song about not giving up on my music career. And it went to change my life. But it took a little while. So after it came out, but before it exploded, I was booked on this cruise, like this music cruise. And there are a lot of these. I don't know if any of you guys have gone. And I think they, in theory, sound like a really nice, cool thing. And I was excited. And my friend Andy Grammer was going, I'm not name dropping, I'm just telling.

[01:48:39]

You this is important story.

[01:48:41]

This is important to the story. And Michael, not buble.

[01:48:46]

There we go.

[01:48:49]

I was like, what's his name? Michael Keaton. Yeah. Actually, I do know Michael.

[01:48:53]

I met him too.

[01:48:54]

I. Thanksgiving, that is.

[01:48:55]

Oh, my God.

[01:48:56]

All right, so here's the thing. It was Michael Franti and he's like, you know, Michael Fronty. Hey, I'll be gone today.

[01:49:03]

Oh, yes. Love him.

[01:49:10]

I love you.

[01:49:10]

I hope he's good. Is he okay? Is he doing good?

[01:49:13]

What?

[01:49:14]

For sure he's doing well. He's always doing well. He's barefoot somewhere in some mountain town like loving strangers. So here's the thing. I'm on this cruise and they. And I was stacked.

[01:49:23]

Lineup.

[01:49:24]

It was stacked. And I was in the train. Train too. And I was a nobody at the time. And it was like a favor that I was on there. So I was put in a. In like the bottom, like steerage. I was in like the like 6th floor down.

[01:49:37]

It was hot.

[01:49:38]

Tiny little like cubicle cruise.

[01:49:40]

Did you get a window?

[01:49:41]

I had a window. Thank God. So, okay, I'm next to like just. I'm with the masses.

[01:49:46]

You're like when they put Leo's character in Titanic.

[01:49:49]

Exactly. Exactly. We have like our own like underground classless party where like it's more fun down here.

[01:49:56]

Anyway, you're jiving, right?

[01:49:57]

Yeah, Nick. I'm not Nick. I was looking at my assistant and you. There's a lot of nicks in here. Andy is up on the very top with like a gorgeous bed, like three bedroom suite. Yeah. Michael Frante is on the very, very top of the ship with his own pool.

[01:50:12]

What?

[01:50:12]

His own pool attendants. I'm not kidding. And so, okay, I just wanted to set the stage and train is obviously also on the top. And I walk on this cruise ship and fight song had exploded. A month and a half. Half before. Like, it was massive. It was probably number two in, like, on the billboard. Whatever. It was, like, massive. I was about to sing with Taylor on stage. That's where we're out. We're at in my career, and I only got on the ship and there. And no one has made, like, amendments to the. To, like, where I am.

[01:50:37]

Uh huh.

[01:50:38]

And I am getting recognized nonstop, and I've never been recognized before. I've never been famous before. No one ever cared who I was. So I do not know how to deal with it. It's my first experience. And every time I walk out of my room, there is someone telling me a story about how fight song has helped them. And it is a beautiful experience, but not when you're, like, trying to brush your teeth. And, like, it was really scary and really, like, I felt. I felt, like, so uncomfortable, and people just kept wanting to cry to me, and it was, like, lovely, but it was all day long, and they wanted signatures. And I said to Andy and Michael, I'm like, this is not going well. Like, I am not okay. How do we do this? And they're like, oh, what do you mean? It's an incredible experience. And I didn't know where they were. I was like, okay, I guess there's something wrong with me. I guess I'm just, you know, a bad artist. And I see Michael, like, I'm hiding in, like, the yoga room. I'm, like, hiding from, like, wherever I can find space.

[01:51:25]

Cause I had no personal space. And Michael's, like, leading a fucking hug workshop and, like, embracing people just because he's like, does anyone want to hold hands? And I'm like, what is wrong with him? Why doesn't he want space? And finally on, like, the last day, they invite me up to their quarters, and I'm like, oh, this is a bunch of bullshit. Of course you guys are ready to go down and mingle.

[01:51:46]

Like, you're not a five bedroom apartment.

[01:51:49]

Meanwhile, you're sleeping, and someone's like, literally.

[01:51:52]

They found out where I am, and people are leaving signs on my door. Like, I love you. I just want you to know I love you. And it is so sweet, but it's also, like, it was kind of scary experience.

[01:52:01]

Yeah, you can't leave.

[01:52:03]

You can't leave.

[01:52:03]

You're trapped on that space, like a security or something.

[01:52:08]

Thank you.

[01:52:10]

Do I sound obnoxious?

[01:52:12]

It's true.

[01:52:14]

It does remind me of when I filmed my season of the Bachelor and the iconic Corinne Olympias.

[01:52:20]

Olympias Corrine. Yeah.

[01:52:21]

Corinne.

[01:52:22]

You remember Corinne? I loved her crazy last group date, and we were swimming with sharks.

[01:52:28]

And I remember that date.

[01:52:30]

And I talked. I've been on a cruise once. I went with my dad. Really great bonding experience. But also, I was like, never fucking again. Because it was like, it's just a giant sardine can. And I said, I do not cruise. And Corinne goes, you just don't cruise the right way. It was like some version of you don't know how to cruise. Apparently she had the train and Andy experience.

[01:52:53]

Totally.

[01:52:53]

And I had the Rachel platinum experience.

[01:52:55]

Yes.

[01:52:56]

It was a free trip.

[01:52:57]

Yes.

[01:52:57]

So you can imagine our accommodations.

[01:53:00]

Mine probably, like, mine.

[01:53:01]

When I do Disney Cruise, it's like they have two floors that are just concierge level, which is just like, everybody there. You have your own little lounge and, like, bar to go to. So it's like, you don't have to, like, wait in line or, like, find the available bar on the ship. So I'm like, there are ways to go about it where it's like you're not feeling like everything is being, like, corralled, you know?

[01:53:20]

Okay. Yeah. That's what I was missing.

[01:53:22]

Do you think you'll take the girls on a Disney cruise?

[01:53:25]

I don't really see that for us. I don't see it for us. But I'm not going to rule it out because who knows? Maybe they love Disney, and maybe. Yeah.

[01:53:32]

I could show you the way.

[01:53:33]

I could show you the world.

[01:53:35]

Shining, shimmering splendor.

[01:53:38]

Well, I can die happy now.

[01:53:39]

You can absolutely take river to Disneyland.

[01:53:42]

Oh, absolutely. No.

[01:53:43]

Who are we? Just.

[01:53:44]

We were talking to Kane, our good friend, Cain Brown.

[01:53:46]

Okay. Name dropping. Nice try.

[01:53:50]

And Nick was saying, I'm, like, an able.

[01:53:53]

Like, who? Wow.

[01:53:57]

Take it way back.

[01:53:58]

Nick was like, well, fuck amusement parks. I'm literally never doing that shit. And he was like, honestly, like, it's really fun to, like, go with your kids. And, like, there's, you know, like, on the roller coasters. And he was like, you get to, you know, experience childhood like never before through your kids.

[01:54:12]

That's sweet.

[01:54:13]

And I hope that it made you feel like Chuck did it. I will be excited to take river to, like, see things for the first time. Like, Disney world will be, like, really cool for her to see.

[01:54:25]

It is so awesome that you're such a young mom. Like, and they're so gonna. It's so beautiful.

[01:54:29]

People do say young mom, and I.

[01:54:31]

Guess, like, not for the rest of the world.

[01:54:33]

Well, yeah, for today's.

[01:54:34]

Yeah.

[01:54:35]

Because everyone I went to high school with has four kids by now.

[01:54:37]

So did you grow up in Utah?

[01:54:39]

No. No. Alabama, Georgia. South area. Yeah.

[01:54:42]

That wasn't a joke. I was serious.

[01:54:43]

No, no, no. Yeah, no, yeah, no, the south.

[01:54:45]

It's my eyelash.

[01:54:46]

Follow utah coming after you.

[01:54:48]

No, I love Utah. I'm like, absolutely. It's actually my favorite place to tour. They are incredible. They are similar to Europeans in their enthusiasm, music. Europeans are just the most generous, and South Americans are, like, the most generous audience.

[01:55:00]

Our good friend Carly Pierce, she was.

[01:55:02]

Oh, my God.

[01:55:03]

This is actually a joke. I cannot believe you made me feel bad about name dropping.

[01:55:08]

No, she was saying that. And when she tours in Europe, she's like, they have no idea what I'm saying, but they know every single word to myself.

[01:55:14]

You know, my good friend Julia Roberts actually told me something similar, so no big deal.

[01:55:19]

That's so crazy. Would she tell you again?

[01:55:21]

Julia Roberts? No, I don't know her. I don't know her.

[01:55:24]

You, like, read this in her book or something?

[01:55:26]

Or she texted, actually, Barbara and I stress him.

[01:55:28]

Oh, yes, of course.

[01:55:29]

What was it like performing with Taylor Swift?

[01:55:30]

Ugh. Nick, do you really have to ask that? Everyone has that. I'm just kidding. She's incredible. It was so fun.

[01:55:36]

She's fine. She's nice. Are you allowed to say anything mean?

[01:55:39]

It was. It was the most incredible thing of my life, honestly. Like, that experience was wild. I had never played to that many people. It was 60,000 people, and stop it. And it was amazing. And it was like, you know, she's really generous with her stage.

[01:55:57]

Have y'all talked recently?

[01:55:59]

I wouldn't say recently. No, we haven't. Like, I mean, our lives kind of went in different directions. Cause I had kids and also got really depressed. So I think that it was, like, a different path than most, like, celebrities. You know, I kind of went a little bit more normal life for a minute. You know, I kind of was, like, hid from the whole world of celebrity and all that stuff. Cause it just. My mental health was struggling. And also, I needed to really do a deep dive in order to create this next body work. Like, I don't know how to create quickly in a way that has meaning and purpose.

[01:56:32]

How long did it take you to make this new album?

[01:56:34]

From start to finish, like, five years. But I haven't put out a record for seven years, if you can believe that.

[01:56:39]

Damn.

[01:56:39]

Yeah, I know. I mean, I did in that time, put out a children's book and, like, wrote songs and released music and made two people. So I'm gonna actually go ahead and say I did a lot. Yeah, you were booked and busy, for sure. But I. But I didn't put out music because I didn't know what I felt yet, and I didn't need my writing yet. And I didn't want to put anything out just to, like, keep, like, status, you know, or just keep my fans engaged. I really wanted to have something to say and understand who I am and what I feel about the world, and. And it didn't feel right earlier, but now it really does. It feels right.

[01:57:14]

Where are you from?

[01:57:15]

I'm from Boston.

[01:57:16]

Okay. Do you. You live in LA?

[01:57:19]

Mm hmm.

[01:57:20]

We have been throwing around the idea of possibly raising our daughter in a different place.

[01:57:25]

Yeah.

[01:57:26]

Yeah.

[01:57:26]

Kevin and I talk about that a lot. You do?

[01:57:27]

We talk about. Don't worry, team. We're not.

[01:57:29]

What? What?

[01:57:31]

Anyway.

[01:57:32]

Oh, yeah. Ryan Reynolds. Yeah. I actually have a video of. Never mind. Okay. I just have to just. You're gonna have to rescind that one.

[01:57:39]

Excuse me.

[01:57:41]

I got so overwhelmed by how inappropriate. Okay. I can tell you. I can't tell you anything.

[01:57:48]

Okay.

[01:57:49]

I tell Yden at Taylor's house when we were there for July 4. I can't. I can tell you just, like, a tiny little bit. At Taylor's house when we were there for the July 4 party, like, years ago, she had a jam. Like, the. Like is so I hear my five year old being like. So, like. And I'm like, why do you say that? And then I listen to myself.

[01:58:07]

It's also hard.

[01:58:08]

Ugh. Yeah.

[01:58:09]

I've turned into a valley girl from the eighties.

[01:58:11]

Okay, so, anyway, there was a jam, and I have videos of all these.

[01:58:16]

Like, a strawberry jamden. Oh, a jam.

[01:58:21]

No.

[01:58:22]

You're being serious.

[01:58:23]

That was so cute.

[01:58:25]

Oh, I thought there was, like, a jam that she made.

[01:58:27]

4 July.

[01:58:27]

That makes sense.

[01:58:28]

I don't know.

[01:58:29]

It was 4 July, and there was music.

[01:58:31]

There was, like.

[01:58:32]

There was a microphone and guitar and piano set up, and it was epic. And it was me and Ed Sheeran and Chaim and kesha and, like. And blake and Ryan, of course, and, you know, and all the. All Taylor's model friends who are lovely and very nice. Actually, gigi is one of the sweetness, sweetest people, and I'm being so name droppy. But what are you gonna do?

[01:58:52]

Honestly?

[01:58:53]

And I have videos of them all singing fight songs, so that's why I was. But I can never show you. It's all getting so much trouble. Bobby, what are you looking. What is her face right now? My bubble sister is like, what is wrong with you?

[01:59:04]

All I've heard is that Ryan Reynolds loves fight song.

[01:59:08]

Yeah, that is kind of what I heard, too. And a cheerin yeah, yeah.

[01:59:12]

Okay. So anyway, lots of people like fightsong, and I'm really popular.

[01:59:15]

I'm kidding.

[01:59:16]

That was, like, ten years ago. None of them know my name.

[01:59:19]

No, that's not true at all. You're a household name.

[01:59:23]

That is. I don't know what households. Well, ours.

[01:59:26]

Ours.

[01:59:28]

No, I think you are.

[01:59:30]

I genuinely do think you are.

[01:59:32]

I'm a lot less concerned with it right now, to be honest. Like, I appreciate it.

[01:59:35]

Then I take it back.

[01:59:36]

No, no, no, I appreciate it.

[01:59:37]

You don't give a fuck.

[01:59:38]

I just. I used to care really deeply, and.

[01:59:40]

Now we don't give a fuck.

[01:59:41]

And I don't really care. I'm kind of, like, I'm proud and I love this music, and I just can't wait for people to hear it and you know what I mean? I really solidly feel that way.

[01:59:49]

You don't give a fucked. I don't really care. No, I know.

[01:59:52]

I'm a mom, you know, and I'm just so. And I just love where I'm at in life right now, you know? It's amazing. It really is to be in your. It's amazing to be in your early forties women. It's incredible.

[02:00:04]

It's also amazing to be in your late twenties.

[02:00:06]

It's incredible to be. I really was not, like, I was not enjoying my late twenties like you probably are. I was really struggling as an artist to try to make it, and I was, like, really, really broke and living in a fifth row walk up with cockroaches and mice.

[02:00:23]

Oh, my God.

[02:00:24]

And was playing, like, four hour gigs to pay my rent.

[02:00:28]

You were grinding.

[02:00:28]

I was grinding. So it was a different. We were having a different experience.

[02:00:31]

I've never had to really grind. Like, I haven't had a career. I haven't been passionate about something that I needed to grind for. Maybe that's on me. No, it's not your passion.

[02:00:42]

Easy, easy, easy on yourself. You're really young. You probably will grind in your life.

[02:00:47]

I mean. I mean, yeah, you're being a little, like. Yeah, hard on yourself.

[02:00:51]

Yeah, you're gonna grind. And everyone has their different ways. Look, my.

[02:00:54]

When I met Natalie.

[02:00:56]

Yeah, go ahead.

[02:00:56]

Was finishing up her res. Was it residency or. She was working?

[02:01:03]

Yes.

[02:01:03]

No, she was. She was finishing up her school for being a surgical tech. She was working at the hospital in the morning, bartending. So she was like, bartending all night. She had to wake up, got 2 hours of sleep, going to school. Then she'd go to the hospital, save a couple lives.

[02:01:16]

You grinded, Natalie.

[02:01:18]

I mean, yes.

[02:01:18]

Oh, my God.

[02:01:19]

Okay.

[02:01:19]

Yeah.

[02:01:20]

Okay. No, I did. I grinded.

[02:01:21]

Do you guys remember the song bump and grind?

[02:01:24]

Do I.

[02:01:26]

It just. It came to mind. I just remember that bar mitzvahs back in the day. Like, it was really weird. Like, we were all like 13 and we were like, humping each other.

[02:01:33]

No. Yeah. The fact that they were playing stanky leg at my, like, school dance ponies.

[02:01:38]

Pony's good.

[02:01:39]

That's such a good, genuine. Ooh.

[02:01:41]

[02:01:44]

Can you believe there was a song we showed my 21 year old sister? Because he was, like, showing us. What was the song that you showed us that was dirty?

[02:01:50]

Oh, it's called Deep Throat.

[02:01:51]

Oh, God.

[02:01:52]

It's called Deep Throat by who? Cupcake? Oh, yeah. Have you heard smell yo dick by risque? That one's really fun.

[02:02:00]

Oh, my God. Grandma, if you're listening, I'm so sorry.

[02:02:02]

[02:02:03]

She's dead. But I just.

[02:02:04]

Oh, my God.

[02:02:05]

Rest in peace.

[02:02:06]

[02:02:10]

Oh, 101.

[02:02:12]

Wait, you guys, I am going to go over the there with a cake. What about in a couple days to wish her happy birthday? Do you want me to come to you, too? Honestly, I am all over the place right now.

[02:02:23]

I would love for you to bring a cake to my house.

[02:02:25]

Okay.

[02:02:25]

Yeah, absolutely.

So good to see you, man.
